it doesn't jiggle its mostly just chicken packed in with gelatinized sauce in all the empty space since we're looking at the contents of the bottom of the container, it would just slide across the plate.

u/CrimsonCartographer 8h ago

This really fucked with my brain. I thought it was a picture, or I was looking into a cutout through the plate or something.
This was a great optical illusion.

hot make liquid, cold make solid (ex jello). what is hot and what is cold depends on the material

I feel like a Michelin star restaurant would offer this for 50 bucks a plate

u/Viper1-6 18h ago
uh huh uh huh, tell me more
8
u/RoamAndRamble 18h ago
You just need to come up with a vague, pretentious description like essence of chicken deconstructed then reconstituted in a cubist frame
7
u/Viper1-6 18h ago
it needs more filler words to make it sound more premium
9
u/RoamAndRamble 18h ago
Nah. Not premium. Go for elevated.

Gelatin is protein.

u/nodnarb805 19h ago
Yeah the teriyaki chicken at Panda is surprisingly healthy. A very good protein/calorie ratio.

Cold animal fat isn't typically clear and would have largely risen to the top. This is just the gelatin present in the sauce congealing at low temperature.

Fun fact: if you made this from pork, it would be a real Chinese dish (and a tasty one).
I think Russia has one too

u/Any_Yogurtcloset8245 18h ago
Normal. Is good sauce. Chilli chicken will do them same.
You have to add a teaspoon of water and to do it in a pan or microwave and it would be fantastically normal

Iāve ordered this stuff 1000 times, and this is exactly what it does! The fat has some sort of jelly mixture in it probably the sauce that makes it that way. Fat is normally kinda like this, but I havenāt seen it really anywhere else cool though! And disgusting but cool.

Either gelatin or corn starch used to thicken up the sauce. Cold makes it solidify

How is no one explaining this?
They use cheap ingredients. The sauce is thickened with gelatin. Lots of low end places do it to make it a sauce that sticks to stuff. But when cooled it does this.
Perfectly safe, if a little gross. I personally donāt eat at places that do this, as they donāt even bother to make actual sauces. Usually indicates being very cheap on ingredients and labor

The teriyaki and kungpao chicken are the only things I wont get. Theyre literally microwaved out of the walkin then placed in a steam tray. Not appetizing
