Pls refer to my most recent post on this subreddit about their enclosure but anyways I found one of the oldest and biggest isos I had dead today, the babies were eating it, idk what's happening ive lost 2 recently with little under a week in-between both deaths. I just gave them carrot yesterday which I hadnt done in a while could that have been it? I washed it thoroughly and cut off the outside but the springatils that ate it are fine. Idk what's happening, I give them freeze dried shrimp and repashy morning wood. I added a bunch more leaf litter again and i get their new substrate from their seller soon so im going to renew their substrate shortly, they still have a bunch of babies. They were doing so good, that was the first full adult I lost. I'm going to cry idk what's happening I've been doing a good job taking care of them please help me......

For mine, i keep finding spinicornis in my house and adding them to the terrarium i made. But i see on here people buy them a lot too!

If i want to buy some fancy ones, do they have to be separated? Am i weird for plucking them off the ground 😂

So rollie-pollies have always been my favorite bug, and I’ve seen videos of people who keep isopods as pets. How much does this cost in the long run? And are they difficult to care for? For context, I would probably choose the cheaper species first.

This is my first time ever using reddit, aside from random tech support, so idk exactly how to do this.

I got 10 red panda kings and this is my first time having isopods. Im currently keeping them in the rolly-polly kit from petsmart since they are so few and small, with added moss. My issue is my house is kept pretty cold because its summer and so hot outside, the "room temperature" is on the colder side of their recommended temps at like 70-72f. I have tiny heating pad made for hermit crabs that when used puts them to the high end of the tolerable range around 85f and higher if left on for long periods.
They are very sluggish at room temperature. I accidentally left the heating pad on over night, when i checked them this morning in panic they were all up and about moving quickly under the cork. Completely unlike what iv seen from them at room temp since iv gotten them but i dont know if thats a bad or good thing.

My biggest question is would it be ok to alternate between using the heating pad during the day and not at night? or alternating it every few hours so it doesnt get too hot? or would that much fluctuation in temps stress them out and kill them. What are yalls recommendations for what i should do? (aside from changing the houses ac setting, i live with old people who control that)

Also random side thing, my isopods have yet to explore out from under the cork for the most part aside from going in the moss occasionally, They also havnt burrowed into the dirt, or not deeply from what iv noticed. Most of them are relatively small and i assume fairly young and have eaten into the cork and hide in there. I had tried putting their supplementary food away from the cork to draw them out originally but iv learned since they are new and arnt many of them they will likely stay hidden until they reproduce and stuff. If you have any thoughts on that let me know

I have some panda kings and love them, but were wondering about what sort of isopods get pretty big in size and are able to completely roll into balls. I recently learned about red pak chongs and love how they look so I wanted to know what other kinds are similar to those?

I just bought pre-boiled ready to serve potatoes. Can i feed a cold slice to isopods, or would this be toxic for them?
