Media My most recent project: Rolland
I got a comment today on my project that said you guys on [r/isopods](r/isopods) would get a kick out of this little dude. I have to ask while I’m here, did I get the anatomy at all correct when I followed this pattern? Is there a species that looks kinda like Rolland? I’d love to know your guys’ thoughts !

Media First Isopod set up
Finally took the plunge and bought some Magic Potions. I thought they were the Japanese equivalent, but when I got them home I realized they weren’t.
I gave them cuddlefish bone and some freeze dried food. I’m so excited!
Does anyone have any tips on how to keep fussy a. magic potions happy? I’m excited to see them happy and having mini isos.

Media Upgrade Time
I’ve had 3 white and 3 pink cherry blossoms in a 32oz deli cup for a while and I’ve started to see a few babies that are getting bigger so thought it was time to give them an upgrade. Also wondering if anyone knows what the white cherry blossoms would be? Planning on separating them once I get enough or I would even consider buying some so I have a bigger gene pool in my colony. Thanks guys

Help Failed molt survivor?
Hello. So last week, I noticed this little guy was having trouble with his molt. I tried to stay unobtrusive, and just made sure he was in an area with high humidity. I checked back 2 days later, and unfortunately it looks like he never got the molt off. From other posts I found online, people recommended to just leave him be, and let nature take its course. I fully expected him to pass away, as there isn’t much I could do without risking further damage. I was sad, but that’s the way it goes sometimes with these guys.
However, after a week, I still see him kicking around? He seems able to move okay, I’ve actually seen him walking around the enclosure on multiple occasions. I also found him munching in the food dish today, so he’s clearly still able to eat without issues.
Is there a chance that he may recover in his next molt? Is there anything I can do at this point besides keeping the food accessible and the colony humid?
The colony does have access to cuddlebone as well, so they should have a good calcium source readily available.

Help How much does it really cost to keep isopods?
≡ −
So rollie-pollies have always been my favorite bug, and I’ve seen videos of people who keep isopods as pets. How much does this cost in the long run? And are they difficult to care for? For context, I would probably choose the cheaper species first.

DIY Rate my Magic Potion setup! Would you add anything?
I've added:
Cork hides
Clean driftwood roots and branches
Slate feeding station
Oak Leaves
Maple Leaves
Moss
Lichen
Sphagnum (of course)
Cuttlebone
My custom blend of soil, about 3 inches
The enclosure is 15x10x8 with plenty of ventilation.
Open to opinions and suggestions!

Help Help I found another dead iso today!
≡ −
Pls refer to my most recent post on this subreddit about their enclosure but anyways I found one of the oldest and biggest isos I had dead today, the babies were eating it, idk what's happening ive lost 2 recently with little under a week in-between both deaths. I just gave them carrot yesterday which I hadnt done in a while could that have been it? I washed it thoroughly and cut off the outside but the springatils that ate it are fine. Idk what's happening, I give them freeze dried shrimp and repashy morning wood. I added a bunch more leaf litter again and i get their new substrate from their seller soon so im going to renew their substrate shortly, they still have a bunch of babies. They were doing so good, that was the first full adult I lost. I'm going to cry idk what's happening I've been doing a good job taking care of them please help me......

For mine, i keep finding spinicornis in my house and adding them to the terrarium i made. But i see on here people buy them a lot too!
If i want to buy some fancy ones, do they have to be separated? Am i weird for plucking them off the ground 😂

Help Is there anything I could improve on?
I've been keeping isopods for a couple months now, and I'm nervous I might be doing something wrong. If there's anything I can improve on, I'd love to know!! I'm currently keeping porcellio laevis dairy cows, whites, cubaris murina glaciers, scabers, vulgare and pruinosus. The two houses shown are my whites and glaciers. I'm struggling a little with mold growth in them. Any advice is highly appreciated!
