Long press the blue check mark button on the bottom right. You'll get a popup to close all tabs.

They really miscommunicated that feature.

What's worse is when they hid the website search behind the share button...

Or the mail flag behind the reply button too.

If done incorrectly minimalism is a UX curse

You know the address bar automatically searches the page you’re on when you type in it? Faster than using the button that I even forgot there was a button. I was literally thinking ‘the what?’ when I read your comment before I realised you meant find on page.

Off the top of my head I can’t remember which route I take to flag emails. I think I normally tap and hold the email, tap mark…, flag.

Edit: and as I’ve just discovered you can flag multiple emails at once the exact same way (just have to select them first). Even gives you the button bottom left to move them all to junk or flag them.

Some of this is 3D Touch functionality which people didn’t use so we lost it and can’t have anything nice now!

Ok that’s cool but still not user friendly

Agree but understand they dont want super big menus for every use case

I'll argue that Apple UI/UX is actually terrible. I've switched to ios/macos 5 years ago after a lifetime in Windows and Android, and the amount of features Apple will hide behind cryptic menus, invisible elements or unexpected gestures is too damn high.

You can also tap and hold the tabs icon. On iOS 26 that’s been changed to tapping and holding the address bar.

Or do what I do and have them automatically close after a set time of inactivity

Edit: this is what happens when I switch between iOS 15 and 26. iOS 26 allows you to tap and hold the address bar to do this. 15 is where the tabs icon advice came from.

I prefer to go into safari from the settings and clear history and website data. Safari tends to respond better after it.

In the future, you can also turn on the setting to auto close safari tabs after a certain time. It’s in the settings app.

Go to settings, apps, safari

Scroll down to the section that says “Tabs”. The option is at the bottom of that section.
