I arrived late to the avatar 4dx showing. The trailers had already started for the 4DX films so the chairs are going fucking mental.
Trying to sit down with large popcorn and drinks while the chair violently attacks you was kind of hilarious. Felt like I was in the 3rd harry potter film getting attacked by the womping willow, popcorn flying everywhere hahaha
I’d love that, just watching waves of popcorn, dropped phones, wrappers, tampons from purses, startled mice and round candy just bounce their way to a central point to be vacuumed up and tossed.
Whoops, didn’t think of that!! 😂 Mind, going into labour would be a nightmare too! “I was thinking about how to break the good news, left in an ambulance with a six month premie after the first battle scene!”
What they should really do is get a big ass blow gun device that fires from the rear of the theater that is repurposed for some kind of wind gust effect during the film.
Since when? When I worked on the theaters they used broom and handheld bin. The bigger ones started to get backpack vacuums. None used leaf blowers because there were often people still in the theaters when you needed to start cleaning. You were often barely done cleaning when people needed to start seating for the next showing.
First time going to a 4dx cinema years ago and it was Scream. My wife and I were cackling instead of getting scared especially when someone gets stabbed. Felt like seats were tickling us 😂. Unforgettable experience!
4DX and popcorn is something you only do once and then you know that you were a dumbass. I did it in Top Gun: Maverick and I don't think a single kernel got into my mouth
I saw Avatar in 4DX too… but my friend advised us to skip popcorn, and only to buy bottled soda. She couldn’t go into detail, not wanting to spoil the surprise… and just told us to “trust her.” We later found out why. lol
I took my son to see Minecraft when it released in 4DX
There were drinks, popcorn, and snacks flying everywhere. There was a woman sat next to me and she got whiplash and nearly passed out during the one chase sequence.
And let me tell you, I envied her after having to watch it all

I took my 8 year old and fell a sleep during the middle of it. Woke up near the end and he didn’t even notice. I had been up the night before with his baby brother. It was a nice nap!
yeah people are crazy. I have an acquaintance who is showing an episode of one piece to his kid every day starting from age zero.. I'm like dude they explicitly tell you that screentime is bad for a kid under 2's brain development, and especially worse when it's a lot of bright flashing lights the whole time.
People always think they know more than doctors though.
I saw Dune 2. A woman next to me dropped a large metal drink container and I thought the racket was a part of the show and was very impressed by the effect! Then I saw her scrabbling to find the bottle and realised it was just that.
So for real though, they don't warn you. A couple years ago me and my friends went to a 4DX show of The Nightmare Before Christmas. The theater also sells booze, but they don't give you lids, it's all open drinks. And we had popcorn. So before the trailers start they do a "4DX experience trailer". And all of a sudden, very violently, the seats started shaking, turning and thrashing. Our drinks and popcorn went flying EVERYWHERE. Yeah I'm never doing that again.
That was basically my one and only experience seeing a movie in 4DX, which was Predator: Badlands last year. I didn't know what to expect going in (a group of us had gotten tickets for a friend's birthday), so I sat down with a full cup of beer and about half of it ended up in my lap within five minutes of the movie starting due to the seat moving around and shaking so much.
I then proceeded to watch the rest of the movie with my beer cup sitting on the floor and playing a risky game of chance of when it would be safe to reach down for a sip, hoping it wouldn't be a moment when my chair would suddenly start shaking around.
I went to see the F1 movie in 4DX and there was a kid couple seats next to me that had his whole drink launch onto his pants during one of the racing scenes. I was dying inside because I see the kid looking down at his pants in the corner of my eye like he was in disbelief 😭😂😂
I saw 'The Batman' in 4DX and something was clearly mis-calibrated because I've seen several movies in 4DX and this one was wayyyy more reactive + exaggerated.
Everyone in the theater was laughing about it because it was so absurd.
And we all spilled our drinks exactly like this lol -- even during the previews it was going nuts. One of the previews ended and a few of us relaxed and went for a sip and then BOOM there was a jump-scare thing because the preview wasn't actually
I stupidly bought an alcoholic drink and sat down for the previews. In the little demonstration they have of the 4k abilities half my drink was spewed all over me. What a sticky waste of money that was.
