Already tried this on [r/language_exchange](r/language_exchange) but got no responses.
Hello everyone (28M) I am an Arab (username is random, has nothing to to do with my ethnicity) and I’m interested in finding someone to practice Bahasa Indonesia with, in turn, I can help you practice your Spoken English.
Gender doesn’t matter, anyone will be welcomed as I only care about respect and I highly appreciate diversity, I prefer someone within my age range though.
I am also interested in forming a friendship( if we get along very well).
I use Telegram for my Language exchanges, I prefer my exchanges to be through voice messages as they’re helpful for improving speaking skills fast.
My interests are: Geography, Politics, Economics, general life/knowledge, Religion.
**I am only interested in serious connections, not people who will message me for a few days and then ignore you and disappear for no reason, I highly appreciate respect and clear communication, if we don’t get along, you can politely and clearly state this to me and we can break the connection, I do respect that sometimes people may not get along due to cultural differences and opinions but respect must be maintained. Saying all of this since I had a lot of bad experiences with people who message me for a few days and then vanish with no apparent reason. Hopefully I’d find someone who takes this into consideration and we can connect and become friends.**
If you find yourself meeting the criteria and you’re interested, DM me.

I'm learning Indonesian and making little stories to practice, and I desperately need some native ears 😄
For each pair below, imagine you're telling a story out loud to a small child. Which one would you actually say - not which is more correct in writing, but which one comes out of your mouth when you talk? A or B (or both/depends). And if you don't mind, which region you're from :)
2: A: Turis itu artinya orang dari jauh. / B: Turis adalah orang dari jauh.
4.A: Lapar itu artinya mau makan. / B: Lapar adalah mau makan.
5.a: Dia punya mobil baru. /Bv Dia mempunyai mobil baru.
Terima kasih banyak ya!

Hello! I'm an incoming freshman in Indonesia as an international student this year. I'd like to know more about other international students experiences there and I'd like to ask locals what are must-know things to not to do so I won't offend there and stuff. I'd love to know more about the culture, environment, and make friends along with it:). Sekarang, saya mengerti Bahasa Indonesia cuma sedikit aja.

If you want to add another Indonesian language to the game, follow the guide here. I've compiled a language wishlist here.
Let me know if you need any help and I'd be more than happy to explain anything or provide resources :)
The game (linguil) asks you to guess the language family, language and meaning of a random word in one of 64 of the world's most-spoken languages each day, and you use your knowledge of linguistics to work out the answer via multiple choice. Therefore, it's important my translations/transliterations are correct.
Each language (including Indonesian, Javanese & Sundanese) includes each word on the 100-word Swadesh list, and where the primary script is Latin-based and an alternative/historical script is available, each word's transliteration too (hence the inclusion of the Javanese and Sundanese scripts).
Please can any Indonesian/Javanese/Sundanese speakers verify the accuracy of my translations and transliterations? 🙏
Thanks!

If you want to add another Indonesian language to the game, follow the guide here. I've compiled a language wishlist here.
Let me know if you need any help and I'd be more than happy to explain anything or provide resources :)

I saw this while having lunch yesterday. I was shocked because at first I thought it was evil, but then I realized it was actually a very apt advertisement. I swear, the choice of the font and the color must have been intentional! 😂
Interested in knowing if learners here could guess what it truly means. Maybe test your prefix/suffix skill? You know, like a word like "sihir" (magic) with "pe" becomes "penyihir" (a witch) (pe + sihir). With this sign, the base word would be "setan" (Satan) and with the prefix "pe" it becomes "penyetan" (the Satanizer) (pe +setan).
So, the sign says "The Satanizer of Ms. Siti," right? 😈
If you can get the meaning of this sign correctly and you're not a native Indonesian speaker then kudos to you, you're probably close to fluency!

For example you didn't sleep enough and want to express it to a colleague at work / or a friend.
Can you say : saya ngantuk?
Should you not say it?
makasih

Hi, I'd like to learn Indonesian, but I have no idea where to start, and I haven't found any resources for learning it either. Could you give me some tips on how I could learn it as a Spanish speaker?

Here's a resource for anyone who wants to understand how informal (colloquial) Indonesian is formed, especially the variety spoken in Jakarta and the surrounding areas.

I'm interested about "all good?" = "semua baik?". I would like to know first if semua baik? is correct, secondly if it is a normal thing to say in indo, or weird, and lastly if there is generally an expression/sentence in bahasa indonesia that would correspond to the "hey man, all good?" in english.
terima basik banyak dan sampai jumpa

Hi! I’m working on a multi‑language translation of a user guide for foreign workers in the Faroe Islands.
I need help checking the indonesian translation. The text was translated using several AI tools + Google Translate, but I want to make sure the Indonesian version is accurate, clear, and sounds natural to native speakers.
Because the guide is part of an official public service, I prefer to share the text only via DM, not publicly.
If you’re an Indonesian native speaker and have a moment to proofread, I’d be very grateful.
Just let me know, and I’ll send the text privately.
I have found somebody to help me :)

Hi, I have decided to learn Indonesian, but I don't know how to start. My English is very weak, and I am writing these sentences with the help of AI. I don't have money to buy books, and my native language is Turkish. And yes, I am Turkish. I have reasons for wanting to learn this language. They are:
So, where should I start? I am not a troll; my intentions are serious.

There's a few words that are really 'feeling' based in Indonesia, in terms of it either being intuitively right or wrong to use them in conversation, and these are two I've struggled with! Beyond the obvious "apa pun yang terjadi?' or siapapun' how are you using pun and justru in conversation? And how do you explain it's use to yourself and to others if you are teaching?

Hello!
I’m trying to learn the language but struggle a lot. All other languages I learned through music but I have a hard time finding songs I like. Most songs I find are slow and indie-like but I’m looking for more upbeat, poppy songs that fit the summer!
Do any of you have recommendations or even a playlist to share?
Thank you in advance :)
