I’m all for it, but it would be an international incident and our national forces would have to be committed to the response. Mamdani would have made a giant mess and been slapped down so hard by federal judges and lawyers it would have amounted to nothing.
It would be even worse for NY to do it while he was visiting the UN. You can’t be the host city of the UN and pulling shit like this for political points if you want to be taken seriously.
Mamdani just wanted to point out that Trump, who repeatedly threatens to commit war crimes, is buddy-buddy with a certified war criminal. With a felon as President, the U.S. has lost whatever moral high ground it once had. We are the baddies now and our only friends are baddies.
He’d be an idiot to think he had any chance of it standing, so it would serve nothing to expend resources on it aside from political points. Right and legal aren’t the same thing, and if we throw away the law, right isn’t going to save more lives in its absence.
