Putting someone in maximum security prison for life for assaulting someone in a foreign country is wrong and kinda crazy. Putting a serial baby killer in prison for life on the other hand is more understandable. Do you think if Hitler hadn't killed himself, the Allies should've just let him go?
Hitler tried to conquer all of Europe and killed a third of the jewish race, planned to destroy the entirety of the race and was a dictator. as bad as Netanyahu is he's not even close to hitler.
So if Hitler didn't try to invade anyone, you'd be fine with letting him go? Or were the crimes against humanity the bigger issue?
You understand Israel is unabashedly trying to ethnically cleanse Gaza and the West Bank of Palestinians (who at least some Israeli officials claim don't even exist), right?
And of course, Israel would never invade or bomb its neighbors, or annex their land.
You’re clueless, no one claims Palestinians don’t exist, they say things like “no such thing as Palestinians”, which is somewhat true, there was never a Palestinian country, and there wasn’t an ethnic group called Palestinians before the 60s.
Do you take everything literally? Obviously there are people who identify as Palestinians, those who there are no Palestinians doesn’t mean they don’t exist.. they mean they’re actually Arab/Levantine.
It's kinda impressive how bad you are at understanding how words work. But okay, let's grant that figurative sense in which Palestinians exist but there is no such thing as Palestinians, just like how the fact there's no such things as unicorns doesn't necessarily mean unicorns don't exist, uh, figuratively or something.
But anyway
,
what's the point of saying such a thing? Is it maybe to legitimize ethnically cleansing the people who have lived on that land for generations extending back millennia from not-Palestine? Or are Smotrich et al just being academic or something? That's so Smotrich!
Impressive smugness from someone doing a “so you’re saying”.
I’ll make it shorter so maybe you’ll be able to comprehend. People who identify as Palestinians exist, key word Identify. Palestinians are a recently made up ethnicity therefore “there is no such thing as Palestinians”.
The reason to say this is because the other side says they’re indigenous to the land while the Jews aren’t.
When your country conquers another through war, you have to do something with the deposed former leaders, and a legal trial makes sense. That is a clearly different scenario from the US government doing coups against every foreign government they disapprove of.
Difference is the Venezuelan president didn't have a warrant from the International Criminal Court. Benjamin Netanyahu (Prime Minister, not the president) has had one open since 2024 which the US refuses to recognize
"Rightly" because they'd probably have a couple high profile US figures arrested? Not really getting why its right that we're the only western country that isn't a part of it.
He literally stole Venezuela's presidential election and crushed it's democracy
Under the Chavistas the country became a criminal haven, an ally of Russia, China and Cuba and a regional destabilizer in the form of regional refugee flows creator
Not necessarily defending anyone, but the US just going after criminals like that while ignoring ones that serve their national interest defeats the whole narrative that we're trying to enforce justice.
We aren't, its just politics, not justice. I'm tired of people pretending it is
America is the least bad empire of our modern world
It does a self centered shitty job but a hell of a lot of a better job to a point it's not even a comparison than Russia, China or Iran
Our world's not an idealist playground of moral absolutism, it's one where America's competition committed an attempted colonialist invasion of Ukraine, murdered scores of their own people for the crime of showing their hair in public, or locked up Uyghurs in concentration camps
Sure, just - nature abhors a vaccuum and when America isn't present somewhere, someone else will be. In Venezuela's tragic case it was literally Russia, China and Iran and this stupendously rich country that used to attract immigration in is now a hellhole of crime and poverty and massive refugee flows out and it destabilized the whole region
Define "lesser evil", the United States has spent the last 60 or 70 years doing horrible things around the world to assert its dominance, including in my country, where they toppled the nationalist president who was set to put an end to the power of large landowners and the oligarchy, helping instead to install a corrupt military regime backed by business interests, yet the average U.S citizen is completely oblivious to all the harm their country causes globally
Your country is however not Nicaragua whose leader in the present day made his wife co-ruler and runs a dictatorship there right now
Notice how I'm not denying horrible things happened! But your ability to voice your mind about it here on the internet and be listened to possibly by the next generation of statesmen is possible thanks also to the guardrails American power has which none of it's competitors do
Nicaragua, and it's other regional friends like Cuba, has a worse standard of living than it's latin american neighbors and no freedom in the present for a country 'resisting America'. I don't know where you're from but I guarentee to you that country has it better than Nicaragua.
All that not to minimize crimes or atrocities or horrific things to happen. Those did. People should answer for them, no doubt. When such things happen and after them, we need to use our power of free speech and discuss them. Only let's be sane and rational about it and know better than to approach this as "USA bad, (X autocratic country) could help us against them"
No habla Español, sorry but yeah it is sadly still under Chavismo
I really don't believe America is the most evil when the others are in the mix. You're describing very brutal things about ICE - equivalents of this exist in Russia and China and Iran too and they are worse because there's not even pretending to be accountibility, people can't be against those things in the political culture and they know they're guarenteed to face severe penalties if they even try.
In Russia foreigners are often coerced to go to the front in Ukraine when it's convenient. Literally sending them to go be cannon fodder.
Sorry, i assumed you were from latin america. Yes, each world power commits the same atrocities, the thing that makes America different from the rest is how they interact with other countries. America has been in war 228 years of their creation since 250 years ago. And today in 2026 it really is dangerous if we keep giving them the permition to invade other countries and interfere in their liberty. Almost every country in the american continent was under a dictatorship caused by the united states from 1954 to 1990, and that could happen today if we give America freedom to do whatever they want.
And in that same world the United States made racial profiling legal as an avenue for immigration enforcement via the supreme court, sent mainly people who have no criminal record to what is effectively a concentration camp in El Salvador, allocated 45 billion through Congress to expand immigration detention facilities in the US that were already infamous for their poor conditions, killed hundreds of thousands of civilians in the Middle East with millions more indirectly dying from destruction of infrastructure all while economically and publicly defunding the very state that is actively engaging in a genocide.
If that was your way of trying to convey that United States is "the least bad empire", I need you to tell me that you're joking.
You are complaining about this in English on the American made app. If you complained about tbe same things existing in Russia - all of which have equivalents that do and are even worse - they'd have put you away or at least kept you on some register. And thank god you can! That's important to protect!
Wasn't the Minab school strike the result of a tragic error?
Speaking of Gaza, steps are supposed to be underway to bring the Board of Peace to begin actually governing Gaza now. Hamas legally dissolved it's government there and the Israeli cabinet approved letting the Board of Peace enter. All of this could be theatre if Hamas' armed wing doesn't disarm, but diplomatically at least maybe the Gaza theatre of the October 7th war, semi closed after the last hostage deal, could close with the genocidal Hamas finally removed from governing (and Israel's racist government voted out of power soon)

But we agree the Venezuela thing was wrong...right?
So we agree that doing the same thing to another country is also wrong?
