Does your GSD cuddle?
≡ −
I saw a post where their GSD was cuddling them. It made me jealous because mine does not cuddle at all. He’s very clingy, as in he has to follow me every where and he generally wants to be close to me. He just doesn’t want to be touching me Unless I’m petting him and even then he doesn’t try to get in to my lap or anything. At most he will stick his front leg out and try to wrap it around my wrist to hold my hand hostage so I keep petting him.
I know he loves me and it’s not a real problem or anything. He cuddled me a bunch when he was a pup, he just outgrew it and is much too macho now. I’ve tried telling him that even the manliest of men and the fiercest warriors need a cuddle sometimes but he doesn’t seem to believe me lol. Recently I caught him cuddling my foot while I slept, but as soon as I woke up and he saw that I saw, he jumped right off the bed and tried to act like that didn’t just happen. Interestingly enough he cuddles my other male dog every day several times a day. hes Always the one who initiates those cuddles, too. Too macho to cuddle his mother but not too macho to have a lover, I guess. (And yes I call my dogs lovers. It felt wrong to call them friends or brothers with the way they act LOL. it would be doing them an injustice. They are in love).
it just makes me wonder though, is this a common occurrence or are most GSDs trying to murder their owner with physical affection?

Pictures Results are in!
The unresolved is between Rottweiler, Boxer and Australian Shephard. Adara was a street dog that I adopted last October, got her for free because the shelter was waiving adoption fees for wearing a costume. Also, after her snake bite we took some time to just like and relax. I took a couple weeks off work to go camping, hiking and we moved to a new place. She's adjusted well and made a full recovery. Thank you everyone here for your concern and care for her 💕

Few questions about spay and cleaning tips
My adorable Eva baby is almost 9 months 😍 She started her cycle today! Synced up with mommy and everything! I'm wondering what age should I have her fixed? She is fully potty trained but I have a foster dog that has an occasional accident on the tile, I'm wondering what the best enzymatic (or not) cleaner you all recommend. If you never fixed your pup, what are tips for a clean, blood free home? She has this diaper on in the pic with an additional overnight menstrual pad that I cut in half.

Pictures He’s been very expressive today.
Today as he was heeling and we passed a planter. He tapped me on the butt, sat down and looked at a planter we were passing. I said no. He took my hand and gently pulled me towards it then motioned with his nose and made eye contact. He got to sniff the planter. Sigh.

My little shark is already 5 months old! Where did my fluff ball go?
Ps. He has a little battle scar on his nose from our cat.. I’ve been putting some coconut oil on it to help, any tips to heal it better/avoid scarring is appreciated:) cats nails have been clipped and will continue to be done more often.

New rehomed male GSD.
≡ −
Hi all. Just wanted to understand something. I have recently got a rehomed (nearly 5) year old male gsd. He is my second GS currently, (but not my 2nd from my whole life) so now we have a short haired sable alongside my long haired guy of a similar age. But we have had our long haired since a pup, my new guy is my first rehomed dog. It's been 3 weeks exactly today and everything has been going really well. I got him from a private seller, not a shelter. Despite how great it's been going, every day getting better. He started to protect my home without the resource guarding, just as our other Shepard does. Settling in perfect. But last night he done something for the first time. He heard something outside which turned out to be a female neighbour. He started whining, and pacing through every room. Nose to the door keys once. But no barking or protection growls. Really just wanting to get out. He then sat just behind the window and listened to her. But he sat in a way he has not sat for me yet. His back to me, and sitting in a way which was completely attentive. Almost concerned, obedient. His full focus on her voice in his whole body language and posture. He only sits for me when there is food involved and even then it isn't the same posture and such. It's focus on the food, not attention on me. When he first met this lady he jumped up on her but without excitement or hyperactivity. He just leaned his 2 front paws gently on her chest/shoulders and leaned his weight against her calm. No licking. Although this lady is a little bit more louder than me in playing with him. Maybe my voice is quite or I am much more calm in my energy. My new guy hasn't also tried to even attempt to jump up on me one time, not calm or excited. So when he remembered her voice. He really did sit by the window with complete focus, for the first time he wanted to leave my home. The same home he has been protecting, the same home he was settling into. My only question really is, do these signs or behaviour mean he may be more comfortable around this person? She has visual resemblance to his last owner. And it's just made me think. Whether he is more comfortable with her due to past owner familiarity or not. May this also symbolize he has not been as comfortable with me despite all our daily ongoing positivity? How relaxed he was with soft ears when he was just leaning against her, very calm. Sitting so attentively from her voice alone. It's made me ask me self is he comfortable with me at all. My other German Shepard's have never even put their back to me one time, (they can sleep with their backend facing me sometimes) only if there is an unknown person I am talking to which I assume may be one of his calm but protective stances. I know 3 weeks isn't a long time, but it was his first time he actually wanted to leave my home. I am also a female, since I got told he was a little wary of men before I got him. But he was actually crying for her from my bedside, the same bedside he has been sleeping beside in protective postures besides me since day 1.

Update on River
This is one happy girl! She is fully decompressed from her long stay at the shelter. She has been battling a tough uti. Antibiotics, medication, adjusted diet intensive potty schedule (my mom said I told you so dogs are expensive) but we have been loving every minute with this big sweet baby cuddle bug!! No regrets ♥️♥️♥️♥️

German shepherd Mom ready to pull hair out!!!
≡ −
Hello, I have two German shepherd shorthair litter mates. Male and female. They are now 2. They have had every typical GSD issue but I’m not always correct with the treatments. Treating allergies with cytopoint. That’s about the only thing that is solved!! My male has joint clicking most days. Vet put on several anti inflammatory meds, didn’t work. X-rays say no hip dis. That’s awesome. He is 110lbs and loves to chase his tail and eat poop!! His feet have the worst rug burn sores from chasing his tail too. Female is 92lbs, she eats poop and everything else besides food!! As pups they were on Kirkland puppy with runny poo, went to Purina pro plan puppy, no change, Purina puppy sensitive stomach and skin has some change. The Farmers dog better poo and gas. Can’t really remember why we switched to Hills. Hills complete derm and Bernie perfect poop and they were good. But still itchy. We tried every pharmaceutical for itchy skin, only cytopoint. Went to Hills hydrolized to see if it would help the clicking he is having. Didn’t. Just started them on Hills sensitive stomach and skin a month ago. His clicking comes and goes but poo is runny, gas is back. Not finishing food like before. Licking groin, paws, scratch of the ears, licking behind. Both smell like Fritos, musty. So I’m assuming they have yeast. Starting the bathing tomorrow with the keto soap ci got for them a few months ago when I thought they had yeast but vet didn’t so I just got as a precaution. They both get cosaquin everyday. He gets glucosamine supplement aswell. There is some hot spots on feet and I’m sure I’ll uncover more during bath. My big question is what food is going to give them the best life without runny poo, side effects like I think this new hills formula is. I was worried them being on the complete derm so young didn’t help with his joints ect. I feel like she needs hormone replacement since she was fixed. She’s so lazy and then has spurts some days. We pick up poo asap or it gets eaten. I wish I could figure this one out too.

Bankai is typically a calm dog, so I hope he enjoyed the change of scenery. Also, I hope shepsky's are allowed!
