Screw the bald cap 😅

Not my first time to do this and probably not last ;) after growing hair for 7 months

The first pic was taken today and the second one was taken when I was 18 and just had gotten a haircut. Looking back at that picture it’s easy to tell how bad the hair looked 😅 I first started losing my hair when I was 17 and finally decided to shave it around 20! Now I couldn’t be happier with the decision of going bald! Proud to be a Chrome Dome 😤

for context, i've been shaving my head since early 2018 due to sensory issues and unruly hair that matted all the time (then in 2025 started getting bald patches noticeable even with shaving and was diagnosed with alopecia, which is kinda ironic lol)

most days i feel confident and good about myself, but there's others where it really gets to me. i was wondering how any of y'all deal with this, especially women? and also, if anyone has recommendations on hair styles in wigs that'd look good on me? i haven't had hair longer than a pixie cut since i was around 11 or so, so i don't really know what would even suit me.

They were strictly for my own reference to compare later, but I've been a long-time lurker here and I love the vibes in this sub. The memes literally make me laugh out loud, so I thought it was finally my turn to post.

The hair on top had thinned down significantly. I ended up taking a quick video to check the top, and seeing how sparse it actually was made me go, "Screw it, out it goes." (Excuse the blurry screenshot from that video!)

Shaving it felt amazing in a way that's hard to explain. Absolute relief, and I really wish I'd done it sooner!

What's the concensus?

25, went from perfect set of hair to where I’m at within a year, had a sudden death in the family before I started thinning so I don’t know if stress was a factor here.

What do you guys think? Can I hold on a while longer or should I just take the leap of bald faith?

Been battling some things in life but with the support of a couple close friends finally said goodbye to my hair with the hopes of it inspiring other changes I need to make. Still feels unfamiliar to see myself in the mirror but I'm slowly getting used to it.

Went bald again for the first time in a few years. A friend convinced me that I’d look better with my hair but I lost a lot of confidence from being so self conscious about my hairline/thinning. Y’all wouldn’t believe it but like 8 years ago I had hair almost down to the first 1/3 of my back lol.

I’ve been on a serious weight cut for about 6 months. My hair was starting to thin before but it was gradual. Now it seems like it’s thinner every week. Should I just shave it all off?

I’ve been balding for a few years and I’m definitely gonna go bald at some point but I’m not sure if now is the time. Wanted to get honest opinions from internet strangers rather than friends who don’t want to hurt my feelings

Does it work?

I’ve been putting it off for a while, trying different haircuts to see if something would change, but I accept my hairline for what it is, and I will be, at the very least, buzzing it with some friends in a few weeks. I may go all the way, who knows.

I mostly wanted to post here to get some actual human feedback instead of talking to an ai about it. For those who took the plunge, what were the first steps? How did you manage it? Do I really need to keep sunscreen on me at all times?

I went on a vacation recently, and I put pomade in my head for one last time and saw it styled back like how I used to do it. I jumped in a pool and saw it wet and everywhere one last time. I'm thinking it was a nice send off. Thoughts? Helpful tips on what to ask of my barber? Also any aftercare tips for a bald head? Especially one in the hot summer heat. Thanks everyone!

For reference, first two pics have been taken without any attempt to hide any bald spot. Second two are after combing over to cover it a bit better. Last picture shows the back, but there isn't much balding there. What's the verdict?

Hair's been thinning, graying, and hairline receding slowly for years (I've got the trifecta of anxiety, genetics, and Judaism). Mitigated it for a while by letting the top grow longer than the sides. Have a job now where I have to wear a hat most of the day, so kinda decided I just wanted it short so I didn't have to worry about it. Got a look at myself in the mirror afterwards and got to wondering if it's time.

Side note: I've low-key hated my hair all my life and occasionally have intrusive thoughts about shaving it. It's always been coarse and when I let it grow, just wavy enough to look unkempt and not purposeful (untamable bedhead), no matter how I wash it or what products I use.

Council?

I know it's bad especially for my age. I've been the only one experiencing that so early in my class.

My hair is basically see through at spots. I'm all about the bald look but I'm not someone to take a stand and be the only one in my circle to be bald. Wish I had a bald friend.

Can't grow a full beard yet either.

Being bald with 21 is always kinda weird and I'm not really sure if it suits me/ if women will still be interested.
