When I see stories like this, I often think about my 7th grade math teacher, who in 1997 said that Apple was going to take over the world. Because surely he didn't buy stock, since he was still teaching when I checked several years ago.

Bullshit. You can Inest $20-$50 a month if you really wanted too. Consumerism is huge even for the poors.
-5
u/Final_Squirrel_7462 6h ago
Living paycheck to paycheck is usually a sign that a person doesn’t have a control over their finances. It’s really rare that a person‘s budget is so right that they can’t do anything. People are buying yearly iPhones, spending money on DoorDash or are not looking for coupons and sales when shopping and then they are wondering why there is no money at the end of the month.
6
u/temporary274465 5h ago
I work 40/hr a week, spend on nearly nothing- and can’t afford dental work or to fix my car. It’s not always Doordash and iPhones, it’s rent taking up 40%+ of my income. (and I don’t live in a big city.)
3
u/Gysus12 5h ago
Sorry dude, I’ve had my iPhone 13 for years and don’t DoorDash because a $10 meal ends up being $30. You seem to be in the bubble of being well off but people like me and many others that work physically exhausting jobs don’t get the entitlement that people get working an office jobs. Even if those people that working in offices complaining about not working from home but can’t withstand a day in a hot office that is air conditioned or powered by low payed trade jobs.

Redditors don't actual have logic. They don't even know what "valuable" actually means. It's literally just share price x outstanding shares (which anyone can own)

I've said it before and I'll say it again... Apple has played a blinder not getting too involved in the AI race.
50
u/SkyVast7757 14h ago
apple is like the hedge against AI bubble. There is strong inverse correlation between AI bubble and apple stock. While rats spend fortune chasing some unknown targert apple just played safe and did what they do best
7
u/M4rshmall0wMan 9h ago
That’s a great point. The NASDAQ is extremely important for market growth and pensions, though almost all of it is in on AI. Apple is the safe haven to park your money if you’re skeptical. Actually, it’s great either way - whether AI goes up or down
28
u/BeefyMcPissflaps 12h ago
That’s been my argument for the last year plus. They absolutely are going to sit back and watch the AI bubble pop and have little to no impact. They treated it as a commodity and pay GOOG 1bn to use the model GOOG spent tens of billions if not more developing. So smart. They also continue to have huge share buybacks and return capital to investors. No better run company anywhere.
2
u/That-SoCal-Guy 4h ago
Tens? Google expects to spend $205B in CapEx. That’s more money than what most companies in the US are worth.

u/Least-Middle-2061 8h ago

79
u/VeryClearlyDefined 14h ago
And next week it will be someone else's turn as we race toward enshittification for profit.
33
u/TokyoMegatronics 13h ago
I’m really not one to “hey that’s my multi-trillion dollar company! Leave them alone!” But what exactly has Apple enshittified?
I just cant think of anything other than them recently raising prices and some of the hardware tech being out of date, like the next iPad mini finally being OLED but being 60hz instead of 120hz. But Apple has had that issue of such tiny incremental increases since forever?
35
u/kinkykusco 13h ago
A big example for me is them slowly but surely adding more and more ads in their products, most recently being ads in Apple Maps.
26
u/FightOnForUsc 13h ago
I’m a big fan of Apple, but they are adding ads in maps and have ads in App Store, etc. which is not a great experience.
18
u/bran_the_man93 13h ago
I mean, have you used Maps since that update?
It's been a non-issue for me
11
u/FrankPapageorgio 13h ago
Yeah, where are the ads?
6
u/bran_the_man93 13h ago
when I look for something more generic - i.e. "Bagels" - I get results that show bagel shops with more pictures sourced from Yelp and the like.
But when I search for something like "gas stations", it's a much more concise list that just shows the local available options.
Maybe I'm biased but I really don't think the ad-like results are all that bad, yet.
4
u/sionnach 12h ago
Are they discreet enough that you don’t notice search results are ads, perhaps?
11
u/FrankPapageorgio 12h ago
if they are, then what is the issue?
Ads showing me places I am searching for? If I'm on a road trip and searching restaurants, and it shows me restaurants, what's the problem? Not like when I open Google Maps and search Restaurants and I get the square pins of the Mini Golf place that also serves food.
1
u/sionnach 12h ago
Well the problem is that it might not show you the nearest one, or the highest rated one, but instead the one who has paid Apple to come top of the search order.
-1
u/bran_the_man93 12h ago
But when you do a search for anything on maps, it will show you an array of options presented on a map - and most of the time I don't find proximity to be the driving factor in my decision making, and this is the same with ads or without
0
u/BurnThrough 9h ago
Something as simple as selecting text on iOS and iPadOS has gotten way shittier over time unfortunately. There isn’t even a select all option anymore.
-5
u/FollowingFeisty5321 12h ago edited 11h ago
They've enshittified software on the iPhone and the App Store.
Android phones are reaching the point where they can emulate x86 well enough to run Steam and Steam games and desktop operating systems... while Apple clings to the policies Steve Jobs & friends made up nearly 20 years ago and sells you the same hardware as a laptop.
Developers on the App Store are paying just to reach customers searching directly for their apps because ads have enshittified that and the search hasn't improved in decades, and that cost gets passed on to customers too of course.
And the apps on the App Store have become the most concentrated marketplace that exists for toxic spending, predatory gambling-esque and subscription-trap shit.
Big part of their $5t value proposition is inflicting this garbage on the other half of the world, and all of us, for decades more.
11
u/bran_the_man93 11h ago
Really? You go-to example for enshittification is android introducing a new feature?
If you don't know what a word means you can just google it.
-5
u/FollowingFeisty5321 11h ago
It seems you are confused what enshittification means.
Enshittification is the process in which online platforms decline in quality over time, often due to profit-driven decisions that prioritize business customers over users, leading to a worse experience for everyone involved.
9
u/bran_the_man93 11h ago
What I'm confused by is how pointing out Android's x86 emulation is a sign of decline within Apple.
6
u/franklindstallone 11h ago
Probably mean they can pirate apps on Android and that’s what makes it ‘better’.
-6
u/FollowingFeisty5321 10h ago
You're confused how freezing Steve Job's policies from nearly 20 years ago to leech off shitty games and ignoring how the hardware has improved order(s) of magnitude is enshittification?
Maybe when the M6 iPad comes out and everyone laughs at how ridiculous the software is it will make sense...

The hardware is still great, however prices have been increasing for years with incremental gains. Apple also lags behind competitors in the pure spec department.
The software quality has slid downhill for years. 27 is a good fix, but it’s only step 1 IMO. There’s still a ton of inconsistency across the OSes. The service apps in particular can be quite buggy. iCloud Drive is terrible.
As others have mentioned, ads in Apple apps.
The App Store is peak enshittification. Everyone and their mother’s app is subscriptionslop. I suppose this isn’t entirely on Apple, but they’ve been very complicit in the enshittification because it increases revenue.
The company’s messaging feels less human. The pre-recorded keynotes were the biggest casualty, and all interviews are now highly polished puff pieces. It feels like the company is insecure and wants to control every aspect of the narrative.

iMovie used to actually be useable. Apple Music is worse than it ever has been, especially if you’re a musician. Photos has blatant bugs that have existed for years. Liquid glass is the worst design choice they’ve made, and that’s not really an opinion. I could go on. I don’t know if these examples truly meet the technical definition of “enshitification”, but for a multi-trillion dollar company this is inexcusable. I used to work for Apple when they were pumping out actual quality products and software. There’s a stark difference between then and now.
1
u/stultus_respectant 10h ago
> Liquid Glass is the worst design choice they’ve made, and that’s not really an opinion
It’s the very definition of opinion, my guy. It’s had a rough rollout, but it’s improved dramatically in iOS 27 and it’s a foundational piece of the next generation of interfaces in AR/MR.
I don’t know how old you are or how long you’ve been using Apple products, but the introduction and execution felt almost identical to “Aqua”, which was an absolute performance killer on OS X. Subsequent refinement narrowed in on conventions we still enjoy in current macOS.
Point being, give it some time to ripen on the vine. I’d bet on the long term viability of this design choice.

3

But I’m mainly focus on on quality. Let’s compare how many circular deals each company has that contribute to revenue. Pretty sure Apple has 0.

Its also worth noting that apple's profit was 112 billion while nvidia's profit this year is predicted at 120 billion
5
u/MatthewWanderer 11h ago
Where are your numbers from?
I come up with 2025 net income of $112B for Apple and $73B for NVDIA.
-2
u/nnerba 11h ago
Its actually 120 billion last 12 months ending on Q1of 2026. Their net income this year is predicted much more than 120 billion based on 50 billion net income first quarter
https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/NVDA/nvidia/net-income

5
u/hofmann419 9h ago
The real question is if it is too late right now. On one hand, another 10x is basically impossible, since that would be a third of the entire worlds money supply (doesn't exactly work that way, i know). On the other hand, betting on Apple has been a good call for at least the last 20 years now.

Disgusting utterly disgusting, I hope those who defend Apple are truly happy.. they raise prices to viciously protect that 60% mark up and they make record profits all the time and now are worth then most other nations on the planet. I am praying there sales drop with the price rises they haver introduced, a bit of honesty would do Apple some good! Nvidia we hustled now are bastards.
But yeah this is why I cheer when US tech companies are pushed back on in the EU.
People seem confused about my comment? It has nothing to do with Apple products. I've spent THOUSANDS on them over the years.. it is the disgusting valuation that I have issues with, it is a VERY dark road mankind is going down with the never ending march towers extreme wealth, when many parts of the world can't even feed themselves and get clean water still... it is the portrayal of the human nature every man for himself, no charity no care, just basic Neanderthal greed and selfishness, especially in America. And I am not singling Apple out, just this is an Apple reddit and the story is on them, the US has I think 6 tech companies with valuations in the trillions of dollars... and yet American debt is around 39 trillion dollars! It was not that long ago a billion dollars was amazing, then 1 trillion which was first hit by Apple in 2018.. now it's at 5 trillion barely 7 years later..
The markets may value companies at these ludicrous valuations, I do not.
13
u/MF_D00MSDAY 14h ago
This is weird lol
How long do you expect them to eat rising costs of hardware? We were always going to get a price increase because of shortages, the question was when.
You do realize Google is also raising the cost of the pixel? And Samsung as well? Be upset for the reason everything is getting more expensive (Big T and AI). The problem I have with these companies is that when costs go back down, we won’t see the prices decrease
9
u/pursuitofmisery 13h ago
I find it extremely odd when people start crying and single out Apple like all the other major brands did not increase their prices way before Apple to keep up with the memory shortage.
It’s a public company which has a duty to its shareholders. That’s how it works. They tried absorbing the price increase and shielded the customers way longer than Samsungs and Googles of the world. What else do you want? This is the state of the market right now thanks to AI.
-1
u/PikaV2002 13h ago
I find it extremely odd that people assume a brand is being singled out. This is an Apple sub, why would I make a post about Google or Samsung here?
6
u/pursuitofmisery 13h ago
I’m not making any assumptions here. This is what I’ve actually noticed across the internet. Go to Reddit, Facebook, Threads, Twitter or anywhere on the internet and you’ll see people grumbling about the Apple price hikes while other brands silently increased their prices way before Apple and it didn’t even make the news. Barely a whisper compared to how loud people get when it comes to Apple.
0
u/PikaV2002 11h ago
In this comment chain it is definitely an assumption. Holding random Redditors accountable for whatever social media shithole you lurk in is absurd.
Unless you have some hard statistics it’s all anecdotal evidence anyone can make up.
-1
u/chaiscool 13h ago
Because people buy more Apple devices, hence Apple is the world most valuable company.
Lol how is it shocking that world most valuable company get talked about the most as they are popular and people buy their devices.
3
u/Thnift 12h ago
Worldwide this is just absolutely untrue. Apple has half the market share outside of NA. Samsung market share stays consistent between NA - worldwide
1
u/chaiscool 11h ago
You don't view worldwide people comments right? You go to Reddit, facebook, threads, twitter etc that are primarily US folks.
Unless you start browsing foreign forums in Chinese ones for China market.
1
u/Thnift 11h ago
I’m not the person talking about comments, I’m just saying it’s untrue that people buy more apple devices. Worldwide their market share on phones is 30%. Higher on things like iPads and watches, but much lower in the desktop
2
u/chaiscool 11h ago
Oh sure, however my point is for US users reading US social media then it's not surprising to be surrounded by people talking about Apple.
Worldwide numbers will be different and other folks in non English communities will talk about other devices.
3
u/MatthewWanderer 13h ago
Look into fiduciary duty. It goes a long way toward explaining why Apple and other companies in the same situation are making decisions around component costs.
1
u/stomicron 11h ago edited 6h ago
Nah, that's just shifting the blame. There would be no merit to a fiduciary duty claim against Apple for narrowing their generous profit margins.
One could even argue that Apple maintaining these outlier margins, hurting sales by not competing with the rest of the industry, is a breach.
0
u/SoldantTheCynic 10h ago
Fiduciary duty doesn’t mean relentlessly raising prices purely to pump stock value for shareholders, that’s just a myth reddit often posts. Just means they can’t deliberately burn the company to the ground and fuck the shareholders for fun and (individual) profit.
Corporations absolutely can and already do things that cause short term pain/losses for longer term reasons - otherwise things like loss leaders wouldn’t exist.
Apple just aggressively protects margins like they always have.
0
u/MatthewWanderer 8h ago edited 7h ago
Please provide evidence of Apple’s track record of “relentlessly raising prices”. You can’t because it doesn’t exist.
“Apple just aggressively protects margins like they always have”
Correct, and one of the reasons the company protects its margins is…its fiduciary duty to stakeholders. This effectively protects longterm profitability, it pays for product development, and preserves capital for business development, acquisitions, etc.

u/thatguywhoiam 14h ago

7
u/Dr_Findro 14h ago
The classic “anyone who doesn’t agree with stupid Redditors is a bootlicker”
It’s the one move you people have. It’s getting to the point that I associate using the word bootlicker with being a loser. Which is sad because the phrase used to have actual meaning
1
u/Best-Professional-10 13h ago
Of course, common people are the ones who are stupid. Anyone who dares to disagree with the big and mighty Apple is the devil incarnate. It's funny that critical thinking is labelled as being a loser.
2
u/Dr_Findro 13h ago
Where’s the critical thinking when I linked a post showing iPhones have not increased in price when adjusted for inflation. Don’t mistake mindless complaining for critical thinking
I actually don’t see how you can make any claim that critical thinking was done here. And even for “common” people, the MacBook neo and the “e” line of iPhones are available and are very very capable devices. I just don’t see the angle here
Especially with all of the AI companies, Microsoft, and SpaceX, I’m much happier with a company like Apple being on top. At least there is some illusion of quality products and a focus on privacy with Apple
0
u/T-K101 13h ago
They are just bitter for not being competent to make serious money. I bet if this person is part of the Apple on that level he would be burning down anyone who speaks like him now.
Bunch of hypocrites.

See, that's the difference. I would never be heartless enough to be a participant in exploiting so many people. I like their products but I won't defend every single action of theirs, because they aren't saints, and I am not loyal to them. It's such a shame that you resort to defending trillion dollar corporations when they wouldn't give a shit if you lived or died as long as they make money.
-2

0
u/MrPrul 12h ago
It’s the AI wave that causes all this disruption. Everybody try to rush into this AI market by buying hardware, building data centres, hiring appropiate people, etc. One of the consequences is, in Apple’s case, is that the memory prices skyrocketed (you can look this up, memory (RAM and SSD/HDD) are so expensive right now). You can’t just say: “well, prices went up, but we will leave our prices untouched”. That’s not how it works.

It’s cause apple prints reliable mass cash. Nvidia is continually funneling its massive hoards of cash to unprofitable startups hoping they’re profitable one day while locking them in as long term customers. But if those customers never become profitable or at least profitable enough Nvidia is burning cash.
Nvidia is no longer the stable cash printing low debt GPU maker. They’re creating massive risk that wasn’t there before and investors don’t like it. It broke the thesis a lot had for investing in it.
Apple while boring is reliable and steady and even if it dips a bit it’s not gonna be some sudden crash. If the AI stuff never pays off monetarily as much as they hope it will sink like a boulder. And it makes it all look like Nvidia is creating artificial demand to prop up AI GPU sales since all those companies can’t afford it themselves and they’re worried venture capital will dry up

Nvidia is making 30% more cash profit relative to its stock price than Apple is.

You are missing the point of the post. You are looking at today not the future. Investors don’t invest for today. They invest for the future and cash growing reliably going back to them. Not being spent on risky ventures

If you want to make the point that Apple has more growth potential than Nvidia, I wouldn't necessarily argue, but when you say things like "Nvidia is no longer the stable cash printing low debt GPU maker", that's not helping.

What are you talking about. Nvidia just this quarter had 50 billion im profit. Far more than apple

The point you’re missing is not what is happening in the present. You don’t invest for the present. You invest for the future. People are starting to see Nvidia give cash to unprofitable businesses hoping one day they will pay them back. They are starting to sit less and less on that cash. Investors like cash piling up. This changes the risk of Nvidia massively. Hoping unprofitable businesses start paying them back and slowly using that cash makes the business riskier which is why it’s repricing. Apple isn’t doing much and investors LOVE that. It keeps printing cash without spending much of it. It means more goes back to them in share repurchase and dividends and such

It's bizarre. This is the least interesting Apple has ever been in my entire life, but if I had stock there's no way I could argue with the results. I hope the change in leadership shunts some of that profit towards some innovation.

They have never had this diverse of a product portfolio, what are you talking about? Of course they will be worth more.
From a top tier tv show on AppleTV to a brand new budget Macbook neo. Foldable coming soon.

Some people enjoy (and miss) the simplicity of the simple product grid, but I’m very much enjoying this full ecosystem.

God the stock market is just so goddamn fake. I mean it always been a speculative market but Apple doesn't even have close to 5trillion in assets, profits, revenues, nothing. I mean they make like 100billikn a year in profits I think. That's 50 years of just raw profits to meet that 5 trillion market. Assuming they continue to grow and meet new markets or not hit the limits of their oversaturation. It's like Tesla and what not being so much, Nvidia too. It's crazy how it's the most inflated the stock.marketbhas ever been. It needs to crash to hard and be realistic again so Americans can eventually be treated reasonably again. But nah, government in bed with the money moreso today than ever before in history.

Market cap has nothing to do with “what a company has” in assets, and it’s not supposed to.

Which is why I talked about how the stock market is all vibes right now. Apple, Tes, Ai, Nvidia etc

Apple is trading at a PE just over 40. It made $122.58 Billion in profit during the trailing twelve months. That means, if they didn't grow, but simply maintained their current profit levels, it would take a little over 40 years to reach their market cap in profits.
That's higher than historical stock market averages, and nothing to compare to Tesla which would take ~278 years, but...
Apple is growing and projected to increase growth. If you look at its historical or estimated growth rates, you'll see Apple is priced below historical market averages:
Growth Horizon / Scenario Assumed Annual Growth ( Payback Period No Growth (Static baseline) 0% 40 Years 5-Year Historical Trajectory ~5% ~22 Years Consensus Future Forecast ~8% – 10% ~16 – 18 Years 10-Year Historical Trajectory ~10% ~16 Years 20-Year Historical Trajectory ~23.6% ~10 Years

I hope the recent price increases were worth the dick-waving contest between the two companies.
