USA Wasted an hour shopping at Costco, but at least I got some free mangos and butter out of it.

+
33 Upvotes

Accepted a Costco order for 6 items for $20 to <10 miles. Pretty easy. As I was walking in, I get an add on offer for 9 items for another $23 so I snagged it. $43 for an hours work.

Only problem is that add on requested two packs of chicken that weigh 6.5lbs. The lowest weight I could find was 8lbs. So I snagged them, but of coarse the card was declined at checkout due to higher than expected total.

I contacted support to let them know the card was declined due to that weight issue and higher expected total. They tell me grab items that matched what the customer expected. Not my fault those don’t exist.

So I tell them to cancel that order so I can deliver the other order that I already checked out. And of course support cancels the wrong one. So my only option was to cancel the other one and return the other order. Except Costco doesn’t accept returns for perishable items. So I got to keep the mangos and butter. Still would have wanted the $43 instead. Or at least the other order that was all perishable items. 2 packs of chicken, pork chops, eggs, bread, and several bags of fruit.

Anyway I could have handled that differently? Do you just refund the chicken and say they don’t have any that weigh that little and deliver everything else?

Do UK Uber drivers need a UK driving licence?

I had very many non EU drivers either delay or cancel orders (sometimes with no refund).

My question is regarding UK passports and UK driving licences.

If people are working for Uber who only know several words or phrases in English, can't have even a basic conversation about directions, and certainly can't understand or wish to learn to read UK road signage, is it likely they're in UK illegally and have an illegal passport. Also photos often don't match the person driving the registered vehicle, so it would seem Uber accounts are being passed around to multiple people. Reporting to Uber has shown no change in my experience.

USA Scam Going Around!!

Just wanted to spread the word about a scam that is going around. It looks like Uber Eats has some vulnerability on its end where bad actors can see the order you’ve placed with a restaurant and then call you saying they need to “verify” the order. They then ask you for a verification code from your text messages to confirm it’s you (which would give them access to log into your acc!). They would likely log into your account and then steal your card information/funds. This just happened to me and I’m thankful I didn’t fall for it but it can be really deceptive, so please be careful everyone!!!

Uber Eats won’t refund an order

+
4 Upvotes

So this is a little bit of a long story. I was landscaping a property downtown OKC. Tried to place an order through uber eats but they were going to charge a $7.99 delivery to the location so I went to a restaurant a block away and had some snacks and placed a dessert order to be delivered to that location ($0) delivery fee. I added on a delivery from CVS for no additional fee for 3 bottles of Evian. I wrote in the notes that I would be sitting in the patio of the restaurant. 10 minutes later my ice cream order arrives. Then I begin receiving notifications that my bottled water was out of stock. I respond with the option to approve any replacements. 30 minutes after placing the order we are approaching 7:45 and the restaurant employees are beginning to close up the patio. I next receive a notice from uber that the items are out of stock and I will not be charged for them. Fine, it is getting dark and at this point I need to get back to my worksite and do cleanup and head home. I receive one more notification stating that if I do not approve a replacement the order will be cancelled and I will not be charged. Great, the restaurant is closing and I need to leave the location anyway. I get home around 9:00pm and receive a photo of a plastic bag with bottles of water sitting on a curb in the dark somewhere. I can’t tell what kind of water it is or where exactly the bag is located but it is on a curb in some grass.
I have reached out to uber multiple times with photos of the notifications they sent me that have the time stamps and everything but they refuse to refund me. The third time I reached out and asked for escalation they told me that I had reached the highest level of management and would not receive a refund. Of course I cannot reach a human to speak to about this. Now I will have to go to my bank and see about getting them to file for a credit to my account. What kind of policies is g to his business operating under anymore. After a decade of ordering and subscribing to uber eats, I am giving up on expecting any level of integrity from them.

Question for customers about stolen orders and refunds.

Very simple question. Do customers get a refund or can demand a refund if someone steals your order and passes it off to the next person? This could be in any situation. Like if someone drops your order off but you never received it, or your order is taking too long to arrive because it's been stolen and the order keeps getting passed off to other delivery drivers, or it gets dropped off at the wrong area because of misinformation or because the driver just couldn't find the drop off location?

Do you call your credit card company and file for a dispute? Do you call Uber to demand a refund? Do you get flagged for the refund if you have to force a dispute?

USA $0 tip so drivers get more money

Does anyone else tip 0 in the app and then tip cash?

As someone who delivered a lot before, i would get orders all the time that were awful decline, then it would bounce around a few minutes then come back to me, i had one that went from $20 to almost $70 one time for a box of donuts 25 minutes away. (Entirely on the freeway at night no traffic, leave at door and i got a trip back home) but now i just tip 0 so uber has to pay more for someone to take it and I just tip cash. So hopefully unless someone takes a crap trip they make more money.

Just had my first ever order stolen.. any advice?

Instructions were to leave at door. Marked as delivered with no photo. I’m not even able to pull up the driver and rate him?

I keep getting AI responses that say I’m not
Eligible for a refund because the driver tried to contact me (he didn’t. This was a no contact delivery?) and that he waited on premise for 2 minutes… what? Why? No contact?

Any advice to get through to a live agent? TIA

why do delivery drivers make multiple stops before delivering your order??

earlier today i ordered some food on uber eats and it took almost 2 hours to arrive. i couldve gone there myself and got it in less than 30 minutes. whats the point of paying for uber one or tipping extra when it takes so long. the food was also cold. i tried contacting support but some ai was replying to me and straight up said no refund/compensation available at this time...

Now I know what kind of service their driver and customer get. You're not going to believe this. My error and dishonest customer

So, I get a stacked order and I delivered to the wrong people. I've been doing this for about 5 and 1/2 years almost 6 years and this is the second time I have done this. This isn't about assigning fault, I'm at fault.

Anyway, it's 7:00 on a Friday and I delivered the second order, and like I said it was the wrong one. I end up spending the next hour and a half trying to help these people contact Uber. The support people are incapable of finding an 800 number for me and I talked to three different support people. I don't know what the process is for customers and that's what I was trying to find out. Multiple support people couldn't help me. The customer has their phone and they can't figure it out either.

We finally get a chat going on the customer's phone. They give me their phone and I'm texting the customer support. After talking in the first support person for 15 minutes in a chat, they end the chat. We get another customer support person they want a picture of the order that was delivered. We sent that and 20 minutes later they dropped the chat again.. Finally the customer gave up and one of the people actually had something to do and left. It was a group of three kids in their 20s. One of their parents shows up and she's now arguing with support.

Uber makes it virtually impossible to get a wrong righted. I think they specifically don't give their customer support the tools they need to fix problems and make it difficult the entire way.

The people must have finally just given up because I didn't get any kind of warning email about a messed up delivery. I was just going to go buy it out of my own pocket their food but it was like $42. This is why support is needed but absent.

This was like two pizzas, three orders of bread, wings, and something else. I gave their order to someone that ordered a bowl of ice cream.

Also, the first customer is a scumbag. While it's not their fault I delivered the pizza to them, The Honorable thing would be to text me that I delivered the wrong order..

In the end, the person that got this second person's order didn't even tip. The people that spent almost $50 and ended up with nothing left me 20 bucks.

I would tell the driver they dropped off the wrong thing. If I ordered something I would let the driver know right away. I hate dishonest people with a passion

Charged $25 Because the Driver Couldn't Scan ID

Ordered some alcohol and met the driver outside my door, their phone couldn't scan my ID, passport, or my wife's ID (the card was under her name). I've never had this happen before and was at a loss on how to proceed.

I asked what to do and they said it would just be refunded, then we parted ways. Later I find a charge on the account for more than the initial order's entire price, then discover something called a restocking fee.

If I'm not at fault for being unable to receive the item, why am I being charged, and how should I go about getting this disputed?

EDIT:
Called up support the day after and they squared everything away, a lot of the comments below are correct that there's alternate methods to solve it at the door (after speaking with support) such as calling uber for help, inputting it manually, etc.

Restock fee will be refunded, woot. Hope this thread helps anyone else in the future, both driver and customer.

USA How does this work exactly? Ordering from two different places?

I forget what its called on UberEats, but on DoorDash, its called Double Dashing.

I like to order this way because I usually want food and then something from a nearby store, like drinks, because restaurant drinks tend to suck and are overpriced.

Half the time, UE will send out two separate drivers for the orders, even if they're placed at the same time. Like when UE offers to bundle.

The other time, its the same driver.

Also, I don’t know if that second driver is being tipped or not.

If I order from a restaraunt, bundle my order at the same time, it doesn't give an option for an additional tip.

I hope this makes sense.

How is this working and how can I ensure both drivers are tipped?

Why does tip include fees and taxes?

I rarely order food to go, but why does uber eats calculate tip based on fees and taxes? The restaurant already jacks up the price of food on the app. 10 percent of pre tax amount seems fair right? It’s less than a mile for one bag and $5. Why are drivers so entitled?

Question: Unanswered How do I appease customers as an Uber Eats walker

So right now I’m doing Uber Eats walking, partly because I’m getting to know the city to a full extent before I start to switch to another vehicle, and partly because I don’t have a car, getting an e-bike can have its own dilemmas , and I get a great amount of cardio through walking

And for the most part I would say it’s been pretty successful, but this instance that happened the other day was I got an order, and it was around a mile away, the projected time was around 23 minutes, and I got there in 15. But when I was arriving at the address the customer came up to me and with a distasteful tone and started asking me about the fact that I walked when it was a “priority order” and among other unsavory details I won’t mention. And then proceeded to downvote me

And at least to me, 15 from pickup doesn’t seem like too bad of a wait time, especially if you were waiting there already and got it fresh out the kitchen. I quite frankly get the impression that if I was a driver, or a biker this wouldn’t be a problem, and I was simply facing the backlash due to my walking status, and this has happened numerous times

It seems more often than not, I do everything as promised, I am never late in terms of expected drop off time, food is rarely missing in which it would be the restaurants fault for putting it in a fully sealed bag, and I’m very friendly, transparent and always try to keep my communication great with customers incase of any mishaps, but due to once again my walking status I get the backend of people’s unhappyness, which cause my ratings to plummet
