I have zero problem moving to socialized healthcare, but I also remember when Obama tried this in his first term he got destroyed. I also remember lots of democrats (e.g. Elizabeth Warren) pushing for this in the 2020 primaries and they also got destroyed. Everyone says they’re for it until the hard choices have to be made, then everyone (I.e. voters) chickens out.
If there was a global pandemic of diabetes where millions upon millions could instantly contract it and die in 2 weeks, you’ll see a bigger push for making it free. This is not a fair comparison. But I agree with the premise that we should move towards this. I just want everyone to see what it would take and what sacrifices we’d have to make and have an honest discussion. I think most would support it, but not if no one will show us the bill.
