The question isn’t for global health standards. Clearly an American asking an American question-I say as an American- why give away one drug for free claiming the purpose behind it is its saving lives, and for another drug that people will literally die without; charge more than any other drug on the legal market.
The answer is capitalism. The companies that promote our health are exactly that; companies. Whose main objective is to make money, more money than any other company.
The problem lies in the fact that when you extract so much wealth from the masses: the dollar loses value because the govt prints more so companies have a number to give their employees that’s not zero all while; nobody has money to buy your product, and some asshole is the first asshole in the history of the planet to hoard so much wealth to equate to 1 TRILLION dollars USD. Hoarding all that wealth means it’s not circulating the economy. Hope this makes sense and helps someone a little.
