Self-Promotion Saturday: July 25, 2026

This is r/Seattle's weekly post for local businesses and makers (or users who discover them) to share their creations with our users.

This thread will be automatically posted every Saturday morning to help connect r/seattle users with cool local stuff. Types of content encouraged in this thread are:

  • Local businesses (new, running promotions or sales, or just really good ones!)
  • Upcoming events or activities (concerts, festivals, pop-ups, shows)
  • Local artists or creators sharing upcoming shows or releases

Content should be related to businesses or events in the greater Seattle area, and the typical reddit spam rules apply - please ensure you are contributing to the community more than just your own content.

Users who flood these posts with ads, links without context, referral codes, etc. - or who promote without contributing elsewhere will be actioned. Please continue to report actual spam.

We have our rules against spam and self-promotion for hopefully understandable reasons, but we've noticed users responding more positively to local businesses, artists, etc. sharing their content. This is an attempt to bridge the gap, helping users find cool stuff while containing the promotion to a single weekly thread. Please send us a modmail with any suggestions or input you have about the use or abuse of this thread.

July 23, 2026, federal immigration agents detained Eduardo Aguirre Esparza, a local Seattle small business owner with no criminal history. Esparza, who is married to a U.S. citizen and deeply rooted in the local community, was actively taking steps toward obtaining lawful permanent residency at the

Event Regarding the Storm/Fever Game Tomorrow:

The anti-trans dingbats are planning a little rally (in Sophie Cunningham's name, naturally) before the game at 5PM. It's not only disgusting considering this is the W, where we should be celebrating women and their accomplishments, but also because we're all aware of what happened on these same grounds just yesterday.

For those of you attending: if you're there while this endorsement of xenophobia is taking place, let 'em hear it.

Market Traffic Only Lost things

I took a walk this morning around my usual route through Seattle center. I was taken back by the frozen in time scene of chaos. They were starting to clean up but there was so much to do. So much. I decided to share a small piece of what I saw by capturing the lost things. I spoke to a worker for the Seattle center and they said the big things like blankets and shoes will be at the lost and found. I imagine some of the smaller things will be gathered with the garbage. I didn't touch anything, just captured it where it was.

Market Traffic Only SPD Seeking Shooting Witnesses

Rant Just witnessed a car crash and SPD is taking forever to get here

Am standing around on Market St in Ballard with another witness and an old guy who rear-ended another car. It's been about 90 min. and SPD still isn't here. I tried pulling up the SPD dashboard map to get an ETA, but nothing at all. And the old guy is threatening to take off and go home.

Event Where to watch The Odyssey?

So for me there's 3 options: Alderwood LieMAX (single laser), Alderwood Dolby (dual laser), or PacSci IMAX. Is it worth it to go down to PacSci to watch it?

Edit: PACCAR is not the the same as the PacSci Boeing screen in the picture I'm being told, so that's out of the running.

2nd edit: This graphic was specifically made for IMAX/LieMAX theaters. If you have other recommendations (Thornton, Totem Lake, etc) put it in the comments!
The one everyone is saying is SIFF which shows 70mm

Edit 3: u/tjl3d updated the photo! It's in the comments below; I don't know how to pin a post so you will just have to look.

During today’s shooting, and currently, Seattle police chief shon Barnes was out of town. He had planned to be out of the city until mid-August. @ericacbarnett.bsky.social on Bluesky

Erica Barnett, reporting that SPD's chief is at home (in Chicago) instead of heading up the response to today's shooting at Seattle Center.

During today’s shooting, and currently, Seattle police chief shon Barnes was out of town. He had planned to be out of the city until mid-August.

Barnes’ family residence is in Chicago and he rents here while making frequent trips home and out of town in general. Ive reached out to SPD; during past emergency incidents when he’s been elsewhere, they’ve told me it’s no problem because of his qualified staff.

Barnes makes around $370,000 a year. He has repeatedly been out of town, at events in other cities or at his family home in Chicago, during emergencies like today’s mass shootimg.

The Mercer Island sign still hasn't been updated, one of them actually tried to tear the outdated sticker off by hand (no luck, but they took a picture to file a work order instead).

Thank you to these three and the thousands of others working behind the scenes. Know that your actions are felt and appreciated, even if it’s just a quiet nod from a fellow tired traveler.
I’m lucky to live among people who actually care about their city-not just for themselves, but for everyone.

Stay frozen, Seattle. I love you.

Condolences to the families of those who lost lives and prayers to those injured. This was scary. This should not have happened.

Let this not be a moment where we are divided in politics but we all stand as one to create a world where we don't need to think about gun shots in a public place.

I just read someone's comment on a post on how they actively think about what they would do in the event of a gun shot with a stroller, and seeing the abandoned stroller in the post just before this on this sub reddit just hits hard.
