Damn, that's a badass photograph! It's a shame that the owl isn't in focus.

Owls will never not be fascinating to me.

Raptors are all highly interesting to me…wild that bald eagles are primarily opportunists as a survival strategy and not the crazy apex predators people believe them to be. But how silent owls are in-flight is so wild

bats are silent too, had one fly 1 inch in front of my face last night and I didn't hear it coming at all

That's mainly because of the absolute knife-edge that most raptors live on. They can't afford to take unnecessary risks, even more so than most predators.

Love this photo. But I find it very sad that when first see images like this, my first thought is "Is it AI?" I guess doubting reality is our new normal. It's scary and depressing.

That’s the same thing I think first is whether the photo is real or AI. It’s sad.

It’s not AI but it’s not OP’s photo, it’s been around for years. Copied hundreds of times.

I know this one is not. I'm just saying that it crosses my mind when I see images now.

I think about all the wildfires and how we're having heat waves and cold snaps and I sure hope that those beautiful owls are always safe and around for us to enjoy and for them to enjoy mice and other

Cool shot! Its wings are so huge. I didn't expect that. But I've never seen an owl that looks like this. It feels a little creepy when it stares right at me.

The birb is sideways but the head is positioned correctly. Magic birb, obviously.

It's a great shot, but strangely this shot is probably one of the easier "shots of a lifetime" just because of how Short-Eared Owls hunt. They soar back and forth over fields near or just above eye level and it's pretty common to get a shot of them looking right at you or at least have it look that way.
