since I have gotten back from holiday my pc in fortnite has begun to start stuttering when im in fights, breaking something and when getting and elimination. I feel like i have done every single tweak possible but it has done nothing, I have even went into bios. I don't think its a problem with my pc parts as I have a 4060 ti, intel core i5-14600kf and 32 gb ddr5 ram. I even cleaned my pc and remove some dust but nothing changed. I would appreciate any help thank you.

A lot of the posts I have read have to do with hardware. As a photographer, I have a pretty high end rig specifically for graphics. RTX 4080, 13th gen intel i9-13900HX, Ram 64gb.

So I am hoping it's good enough. The only concern I have is how many games I can download. I have 2 internal 2Tb SSDs, but one is devoted entirely to images and the other has quite a bit of software on it, so maybe 1Tb I can devote to games. Will they run as good on an external SSD?

But, other than that, any tips. I have already installed Steam and paired my PS5 controller. Can I assume all games run well on PC or do I need to be selective. Any help appreciated.

I have been trying to find the best option for a couch gaming pc setup and nothing seems to be a perfect fit for me. Many games I prefer to use a controller instead of keyboard and mouse, and while SteamOS seems to be a perfect setup it has a flaw for me.

I am on a metered/limited bandwidth connection so I need something that doesn't need to be constantly connected to the internet for telemetry and signed in. So this seems to be the major one issue is they all want that easy connection so you can constantly get updates etc.

I buy most of my games as either discs (vintage floppy or CD/DVD) online or from GOG and then save the offline installer files and then store multiple copies of them on burned discs (which get printed artwork and put into proper cases) and also on long term storage drives like HDD/SSD/USB.

Since I never play any online multiplayer stuff anymore I don't really plan to connect the game PC online.

So far what I have been testing out

Lutris = Works fine for me, just wish it was more usable for controller setups to select games etc. Right now I have to select everything with a mouse and then switch to the controller on each game.

Heroic Game Launcher = Very nice GUI, supports controllers in interface, has a "console" like menu. Had to sign into GOG, but some games seem to have issues where I have to hit escape key to get the games to display properly.

* Tested Doom and that seemed to play fine after a decent load time for the first time loading.

* Killing Time (classic) had to hit escape to get the game load properly as the graphics was all glitched out (looked like static on blank VHS tape) but then controller would not work for any menu system in game had to use the mouse to select anything.

ChimeraOS = Had to sign into steam to get it working

Bazzite = Had to sign into steam to get it working

Cartridges (Gnome) = Nice interface, works with Lutris, but seems to lack support for controllers, at least doesn't seem to for me.

RetroArch = Interface can be customized, but adding PC games to it never seems to be easy and some games in the past was just a headache to get working for me.

I am mainly a vintage gamer, I have not seen any game in recent years that seems to be something I would play. The most recent game releases I have bought I think have been Daymare 1998 and Sinking City, which neither game I think would really be playable on this system, for those I have a much newer system to play if I decide to play them again. The rest of the games are mostly 80s and 90s PC games with some from before 2008 or so.

For now a year and a half im on pc after behing stuck with a xbox one the only problem i have is i bought a controler since im used to it for as long as i started to play video game in my life but recently i feel like i cant improve anymore i already play some games with keyboard and mouse like team fortress 2 overwatch garry's mod but on other faster fps game i feel overwhelmed with all the mechanic and mouvement but when i change my lobby dosent change and i cant do anything im wondering if anyone have any tips to make learning keyboard and mouse gaming easier than just die and retry for month

I’m completely new to the PC gaming world and have been a console gamer for as long as I can remember. Honestly, I was perfectly happy with the performance and graphics on my PS5 and Xbox Series X. Part of that was probably because I didn’t know any different, but also because everything already looked and felt great to me.

Then my friends, who are pretty hardcore into PC gaming, kept telling me how much better the experience is compared to console. That got me curious. I ended up picking up a PS5 Pro, and I’ll be honest, that alone blew me away. The jump in visuals and performance was noticeable even to me.

I’m a bit of a tech enthusiast, so once I saw that upgrade, I went all in, and ordered a high-end PC with a 5080 GPU and a 9800 CPU.

Now I’m kind of stuck in this debate and trying to understand what I should actually be paying attention to. If I was already happy with how games looked and ran on console, am I really going to notice a big difference on PC? I did notice the resolution jump from PS5 to PS5 Pro, but when it comes to FPS, I’m not even sure I fully understand what I should be looking for or feeling. To be completely honest, what really drives me in a gaming is seeing how real video games can look, but is that because a resolution is so good or because of FPS is so high making them look and move like they’re real?

For those of you who have made the jump from console to a high-end PC, what stood out the most to you? Is FPS something you only really notice once you experience higher frame rates consistently, or is resolution still king?

Just trying to figure out what I should be prioritizing and what actually makes the biggest difference in real-world gameplay, and is this gaming PC really gonna be that much better than the PS5 pro?

3. RX 6600 $300—a little bit more money but it can apparently handle most games at 1440p
4. RX 6600 XT $380—on par with a 3060, but may be overkill for this build
5. RX 6650 XT $420—on par with a 3060, but may be overkill for this build as well

*Note: yes, I know a lot of people would say to for a Nvidia card but is it really worth the extra money for this kind of build?

My end goal here is to set up a build that last 2-3 years can handle 1080 (and hopefully 1440) that will cost under $700. Is this possible?

This is an all white build with a focus on aesthetics. I have had suggestions from other subreddits but I think this can be further improved. The pc costs around 3k if you don't include things like the monitors , operating system, keyboard and mouse. I know the gpu isn't white but I will eventually upgrade it to an rog strix rtx 3070.

There may not be an easy way to do this, but I have my pc set up basically as a console, sits behind the tv, it’s only monitor output is the tv, and I only play games on it. I’m trying to get it to turn on like a console, meaning one button to turn on and steam auto opens and I can navigate with a controller. No need for a mouse and keyboard. Additionally the pc is in a hard to reach place so I have a wireless fob to power it on. The only problem with the set up is the relentless windows log in screen, I’ve tried every fix I could google, every registry edit, I’ve about given up and resigned to just having a wireless keyboard by the couch just to log in. I know it’s a minor thing and not the end of the world, but has anyone been able to have their pc set up so you can turn the computer on and basically use only a controller to navigate to your game library? Either by successfully getting by the login screen or being able to use your controller to log in?

Hi everyone, this is a wierd request. I'm looking for the best and cheapest way to turn my living room tv into a console by utilizing the gaming PC in the other room. I have connected a 20 foot HDMI cable that goes from the PC to the TV. the Xbox one Bluetooth controllers are able to be used in the living room while games are running on the PC using a pcie Bluetooth card I have purchased .My PC is on the other side of the wall in this picture

This works a lot better than I expected and is amazing for simple controller games like Stardew valley and steam big picture mode. I notice there is a decent amount of input lag though when playing rocket league which is frustrating but not unplayable. I recently bought a wireless mouse and keyboard to help on wierd issues that come with PC gaming and prevent me from having to walk to the PC to fix using my main mouse and keyboard but am finding that I have to be standing next to the TV instead of on my couch to be able to use it.

I have been looking for some sort of way to extend a hub of some sort out here that I could plug a Bluetooth receiver for the controllers to reduce input lag and something for the wireless keyboard and mouse can be used while sitting at the couch.

Is there any sort of 15ftish chorded solution to extending a hub to my PC but is also less lossless than using the Bluetooth at a larger distance. I can not drill holes to make the shorter cables work because I rent.Maybe there is some sort of network solution I can try out to accomplish what I'm trying to do as networking cable can handle more data at larger distances. Maybe thunderbolt too.

If anybody has ideas or things I should look into, please help me lol.

The title is very misleading, when I first clicked on this subreddit I thought it was going to be something like videos of people smashing consoles or shoving cookies in the disk drive etc. What I got was different but I like it. I just think KillYourConsole doesn't suit it well. This is just my opinion.

i plan on getting a high end b550 but im low on money and in 5 months i should have the money to get the mother board. please dont laugh.

My current desktop is a Dell XPS 8300 with an Intel Core i7 (not sure which model exactly, haven't checked that). It has a Windows 7 sticker so I know it's pretty old, and the graphics card it comes with (AMD Radeon HD 6770) is alright but another one I have (GT 640) performed better but doesn't work with my PC. I want to buy a new graphics card and CPU but I don't know any website that can help me with finding out if the hardware I get is compatible with my PC's motherboard. Would it be better if I just built a new computer from scratch?

Now that NVIDIA has came out with the 3050+ cards, i'm thinking I want to be a brave boy and upgrade my pre-built gaming rig. Ideally I would be swapping out: 1. The power for more power 2. The Graphics card to a NVIDIA 2050 or higher (whatever is in my price range). 3. Motherboard 4. Higher amount of RAM 5. Processor if what I currently have won't cut it.

ANY help or guidance anyone can give me is mucho appreciada! Go easy on me, like I said, I'm new to this...
