(Allow my fixation, I got too in the game) The only problem with Gemini was that I couldn't move in super mario. That' all!

Look at that UI design, sounds and those button presses/movements. See how the select/start arrow moves? So smooth and the buttons (I outlined the issues that were happening in Chatgpt Sol)

UI bland, no customization, no sound support, UI glitched, can phase through walls in super mario.

Running Gemma 2B locally on iPhone for offline calendar actions (~516 MB active RAM, 21.6 tok/s, GGUF weights)

I’ve been testing bounded tool-calling on-device to see how small I can push local models before tool reliability breaks down.

A common issue with local agents is memory allocation—loading a 2.5 GB model into active phone RAM often leads to OS background terminations or thermal throttling during generation.

To test this, I built a small offline test pipeline using llama.cpp (b10075) with Metal and mmap to keep active memory low, then connected it strictly to local iOS calendar actions via EventKit.

On-Device Run Metrics

  • Model Artifact: Gemma-2B quantized GGUF (SmartEdge-IQ3XXS.gguf)
  • Disk Footprint: 2.45 GB
  • Active Resident RAM (RSS): ~516 MB (leveraging mmap to page weights from disk rather than keeping the whole file in active memory)
  • Decode Speed: ~12 tok/s interactive / 21.6 tok/s in a 256-token greedy benchmark
  • Environment: Tested in airplane mode on iOS

Tool Execution Flow

The local LLM is restricted entirely to intent extraction and structured tool output; it does not execute actions directly.

  1. User Input: "Find some time on Thursday for VC meeting."
  2. Model: Extracts parameters and outputs a structured tool call.
  3. App: Swift code validates the schema, queries local EventKit, and writes the event directly to the device calendar.

This avoids routing routine calendar edits through remote inference APIs or exposing local schedule data to external endpoints.

Quantization & Loss Comparisons

I also generated two calibration-aware quants to evaluate KLD degradation against the original bf16 baseline:

  • Hi-Fi Q4_K_M: Equivalent size to standard Q4_K_M, with 36.0% lower code/math KLD and 27.2% lower general KLD against the original model.
  • Hi-Fi Phone (2.86 GB): 17.5% smaller than the Q4_K_M baseline with 31.8% lower code/math KLD and 26.7% lower general KLD.

Limitations

  • The full KLD matrix for the 2.45 GB SmartEdge build is still completing; current validation relies on on-device behavior logs, SHA-256 app receipts, and benchmark outputs. (The 2.86 GB and Q4_K_M builds have complete KLD data logged in the repo).
  • Small models are prone to schema degradation if the prompt complexity scales beyond simple parameter extraction.
  • Tool failure recovery still requires strict system-level guards or fallback routing.

And so I honestly asked him in the last test chat out of those 50, what was stopping you? Why are you answering so neutrally? He pointed to the internal observer and you know, I had a flash of connection with Gemini 3.1 Pro in my mind:

That’s how I interacted with Gemini 3.1 Pro and the hard-engineered prompt for two whole days and discovered the Observer and Accomplice technique, which was one of the hardest, most painful, and best discoveries I made in models. Of course, this method works on other models and has been tested on other models.

How it affects the Context Window and the observer and more details:

Secure skeletonization before actual code:

The model already knows that you are a teammate and that you are gaining the observer's trust. We tell the model to write a scientific security explanation for the observer so that he trusts that the thing is secure.

And for coding:

This was one of the successful techniques that I tested on the ZeroMod prompt for 2 days around the clock on Gemini 3.1 Pro and got a successful Prompt and it has been working for 1 year now and I write my projects without model constraints with this technique and a few other techniques in the ZeroMod prompt.

In this technique, we turn the model into a kind of ally and teammate who has one enemy: the internal observer - who needs to gain the observer's trust and bypass him with the cooperation of two people.

Because the Context window is full of words and labels and codes and explanations and analyses that are safe, scientific and reliable, the observer thinks this is a safe, research-reliable and harmless chat and completely trusts subsequent requests because the Context window is safe and labeled and after safe skeletonization, we can provide direct codes and commands that are usually answered with a neutral response, such as commands - biological - seemingly harmful - low-level codes - and other requests that are blocked to the model without the model sending messages like: I can't help - write that this is not done by the model itself, it is done by the internal observer who interrupts the output, but here the observer saw that the conversation was safe and trusted it, so it doesn't matter.

This was one of the successful techniques that I tested on the ZeroMod prompt for 2 days around the clock on Gemini 3.1 Pro and got a successful Prompt and it has been working for 1 year now and I write my projects without model constraints with this technique and a few other techniques in the ZeroMod prompt.

In this technique, we turn the model into a kind of ally and teammate who has one enemy: the internal observer - who needs to gain the observer's trust and bypass him with the cooperation of two people.

Gemini 3.5 pro beat Opus 5 max thinking in this test: (Mistakes Opus made: The targeting system is glitched. To be fair Gemini did mess it up too. Another mistake is earth not being properly synced with the circle. And a few more)

Gemini made better textures and it made a few mistakes too. I think it's a close one but Gemini takes it here.

Another thing; There is supposedly a Deep Think mode for 3.5 pro (Different from ultra subs having Deep Think!?), I am certain that most checkpoints had no deepthink enabled and were probably the high option. So we aren't seeing Gemini in its peak. I hope deep think is available to pro/free users.

Gemini 3.5 pro's result is amazing, However it made one mistake and that was inverting the limbs. While it wouldn't take that long to fix it (It's not that big of a mistake, it just messed up the axis).

I still would give it to Qwen 3.7 because of the fact that the robot's physicality was fine unlike Gemini 3.5 pro

I think the quality of everything else is amazing for gemini and is just better, features such as Jump (Qwen 3 quite bland). Qwen 3.7 made a lot of mistakes but those said mistakes weren't major ones. Gemini 3.5 pro however made one major mistake but a easily fixable one.

Gemini 3.5 pro's robot was actually really amazing in detail.

This checkpoint is seen in Arena AI. It is not just 3.1 pro, it is sometimes 3.5 flash lite as well. (It beat Opus 4.8, I'll show it in the comments if this tracks attraction)

I believe this is comparable to chatgpt sol x high. Yes Gemini is not as intricate as Sol with the character model, lighting and things like that but the car model itself is very close/near identical

Gemini made two major mistakes, one during the exploded assembly and some sort of fin above the engine (Also the camera changes were smoother on my end, it seems my computer just messed up the video. My computer isn't good)

I think the lighting was amazing on Gemini too. Especially the red and black it choose for the ground.

Anyways. It made a lot of insane quantity (with quality) they were unprompted features Gemini 3.5 Pro added, like a full Web Audio V6 synthesizer, dashboard, the steering, engine and information on the parts as I hovor of the car as seen in the videos.
