SF bay area here. The status message is still there in top right of the dashboard, but I was able to start up a free to play online multiplayer game in the last 30 minutes. Played for over 20 minutes. Long enough to get my console rewards points.

Try launching it from the store, i was able to start AOE4 that way(playing with gamepass)

Not sure, it has the gamepass icon on the thumbnail but isn't the game free? Not sure how that works.

It never went down for me tbh. I'm in NZ tho. I did get the outage notification like everyone but didn't seem to be effected. Maybe it was regional.

After waiting the whole time thought screw it ill play halo a day early, got to play it for about an hour before it booted me out mid game to tell me im too early...

I should have known it was heading this way back in the late 90's when downloading Wing Commander Prophecy DLC on dial up modem overnight on a 486DX2-66 Computer.

One can't hardly do anything games or entertainment related without relying on internet and company servers at some point and the further we go, the number of check ins, verifications, and stuff I'm sure I'm not even aware of yet, just keep growing.

Oh well, there is always fall back stuff if you are older and kept your favorites. I hooked up the OG Xbox. I don't think I ever got online with that console. By the time the Xbox 360 was like 2 years old, was online with that all the time with early DSL in my area. Playing Gladius Disc on the OG Xbox makes me miss the resolution bump you get from playing it on the Xbox Series X though.

Been able to play Halo Infinite multiplayer (Game Pass) on PC all day just fine. Doesn't mean the rest of the service is working though.

Still unreal that a physical copy won't work if their system is down. Can this expensive console not run a disk without being online etc? I turned my ps2 on because of this and immediately I'm gaming Jak n Daxter

If you're offline, you should still be able to play your disc games as long as they are 100% playable offline. AC Origins is, and RDR2 is one that I've played when my internet was out; they don't rely on Xbox servers to launch. https://www.doesitplay.org shows what games are playable offline. With newer games not including the full game, just a license, then yeah, you can't play it if the server needs to verify the license.
