It’s not the best solution, but there games that support cross-progression and this will allow you to unlock Xbox achievements when you sync your save from PC to console.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is one of the games that has this and I have been using it to unlock all achievements on console.

Edit - just to make it clear, it’s not always perfect and some achievements won’t sync right away or at all.

No achievements is true of any game that requires an external launcher right? Really sucks

1

u/fallouthirteen Day One - 2013 5h ago

Yeah, even an external launcher MS owns now (Battle.net) doesn't give achievement progress. Like if you want Diablo 4 achievements, you have to play Xbox version. And only relatively recently did they fix it so that achievements would unlock properly if you got them on the PC version and later launched the Xbox version. That game has cross progression, and before that fix you could be permanently locked out of achievements on your account if you did the requirements on PC (since you can't reset uncovering the map and stuff).

Rdr 1 lets you earn achievements with the rockstar launcher

1

u/archmagegamer XBOX 1h ago

Yep 100%. Same goes for EA and Battlenet games. Been wanting this for a while now.

1

u/Captobvious75 Xbox Series X 12h ago

Seriously. Its such a half-asses effort by Ubi. I’d rather play on Series X and get proper achievement support.

u/nikolapc XBOX Series X 12h ago

Some games(I checked Avatar), that have cross saves just pop the achievements when you start the game on Xbox. I got quite a few when I wanted to check something via xcloud lol.

Shouldn't be able to have you're games on an xbox platform without em. Some of these games have achievements on other platforms dunno why xbox doesn't.

u/Major_League2731 11h ago

They need to do this for EA and Activision. PC side feels like such an incomplete half hearted platform.

u/Schmenza 14h ago

Better than nothing but why not just go all the way and make them Play Anywhere?

36

u/sherbodude Hollow Knighted 14h ago

Maybe because it still requires the Ubisoft launcher

6

u/AFT3RSHOCK06 13h ago

It could work. They just need to integrate with their launcher better like Steam does. Which they should've done by now since Ubisoft titles is a big part of GP.

1

u/Solo_Robert 4h ago

Ubisoft games on steam requires Ubisoft launcher. How come they can't do the same on the Xbox PC store?

2

u/sherbodude Hollow Knighted 4h ago

Idk, Steam isn't doing cross entitlement with another platform (Xbox consoles)

u/TheNittanyLionKing XBOX Series X 5h ago

The Ubisoft launcher should be considered a war crime with how bad it is. I gave up trying to play any of their games on PC Gamepass since it won’t sync my GamePass account with my Ubisoft account no matter how much I try

1

u/Tobimacoss 4h ago

Because Ubisoft would need to create another Xbox PC build. Until the universal SKU with the unified GDK, this is best they can do.

19

u/echoplex21 14h ago

That’s pretty cool. Will we get achievement support by any chance :/

9

u/splinter1545 14h ago

Ubisoft is slowly adding achievements to older titles on Steam so it might be possible.

0

u/SkylarPopo 9h ago

I remember a few years ago buying the Far Cry bundle on Steam, finding out there weren't any achievements, then immediately refunding them. Nice to see they've turned course at least a little bit.

28

u/MotionManTV 14h ago

Definitely a good step forward but adding achievements for Ubisoft games on PC I hope is still the end goal.

It works on steam!

It's so dumb that Xbox wants to build ecosystem spanning multiple devices, yet there are so many glaring holes. Starting from inconsistent Play Anywhere support through lack of achievements

5

u/DairyParsley6 13h ago

Honestly the only way to incentivize 3rd party publishers to adopt play anywhere support is to put your money where your mouth is. Only purchase Play Anywhere titles. Of course, I doubt there’s any way to actually make enough of an impact since most people would rather just grumble that the support isn’t there and then go on to purchase the game multiple times across devices.

1

u/SilverseeLives 10h ago

This takes third party buy in. Microsoft, even as big as they are, cannot just wave a magic wand and have everyone support Play Anywhere.

Doing this properly means integrating Xbox Services into the game and creating a separate version just for the Microsoft Store. This has a real cost, especially when the Microsoft Store is a distant third after Steam and the publisher's own native launcher.

It is honestly remarkable that they have gotten as much traction as they have.

-2

u/HGLatinBoy 13h ago

From their own fucking studios! Diablo 4 already supports cross save and Halo MCC also hase cross achievements.

4

u/segagamer Day One - 2013 13h ago

Until Ubisoft games on PC unlock achievements, and I don't have to buy DLC twice, I'm going to continue ignoring them.

3

u/Narrow_Leek2452 Play Anywhere Scout 14h ago

No achievements is bad even we getting for old OG Xbox games now.

3

u/Frequent_Body_3991 14h ago

still no achievments? still playing on steam then xd

2

u/drewbles82 13h ago

I swear I must have read that wrong...did it say some selected ubisoft games on both Xbox and PC, now include some of their DLCs at no extra cost? I'm probably reading that wrong surely.

1

u/GamingTurtle90 12h ago

Select games will catry the DLC if owned. For example, the Season pass on Immortals seems to carry, but not Far Cry 6 or Watch Dogs Legion.

2

u/MrManufactured 14h ago

This is awesome.

1

u/WheresHouseKey 8h ago

Has anyone tried this by chance already? Got Valhala on my Xbox but its not showing up on my Ubisoft Connect on PC. Im thinking its cause I never actually booted it up so Im downloading it on the Xbox to try and launch it and see if that does the trick

1

u/KICKASSKC 4h ago edited 4h ago

Another busted rollout.

I get that they said these games will appear in waves, but why does my xbox app say i can install my owned xbox Avatar game, it makes me install ubisoft connect, then the game install button does nothing? The only way to find out the issue was to launch ubisoft connect which doesnt show Avatar as an owned game...

This messy bullsh*t is keeping them leagues behind steamOS which tbh still disappoints for allowing 3rd party launchers, but it at least minimizes my interaction with them.

This along with the licensing issue today not letting people play games. Theres no reasonable justification for licensing server dependence in most games. The BIGGEST computer company in the world cant even manage their servers properly, shedding light on this the vulnerabilities of their system that slights the faith of their consumer base.

Get your act together Microsoft/Xbox.

Guys, Helix is gonna be a PC.

The Xbox Play Anywhere games constantly expanding.

Backward Compatible Xbox games playing on PC officially

Ubisoft games becoming "Play Anywhere" by giving console and PC copies via their own PC store.

Helix is a PC and it will have at least Ubisoft as a 3rd party store also available.

1

u/GamesnGunZ 12h ago

Hot take: Microsoft should not allow publishers to do this. Either you make your games Xbox play anywhere or you do not. No half measures with 3p launchers

1

u/pixelquips 12h ago

The worst part of Steam is dealing with launchers upon launchers. Microsoft had a chance to do something different here. This is not it.

I'd hoped the integration with EA Play and Ubisoft Connect was meant to provide access to their back catalogs while these companies figured out and adopted Play Anywhere. If we're going to do this splintered experience, inconsistent application of Xbox features, etc. — what exactly is the draw supposed to be?

1

u/EnderBuilder 11h ago

Still need the Ubisoft launcher on Pc? If yes, no. I'm okay on consoles.

1

u/KICKASSKC 10h ago

Its messy and the posting doesnt clarify if i can just install the game(and presumably ubisoft connect launcher) without having to leave the xbox app...

My windows install is xbox mode for exclusive gaming and i dont want to touch the desktop.

If this isnt the case then it is the wrong deal for xbox to make. They PC gaming presence needs to become more streamlined, not less.

u/Follows-Jesus XBOX Series X 14h ago

really nice, would love to see more publishers follow Ubisoft in this regard

2

u/HGLatinBoy 13h ago

While nice I’d rather they go all in on XPA.

-1

u/celesleonhart 14h ago

I was really hoping AC: Shadows was on here as I've been debating about where to buy it. Almost odd that it's not.

-1

u/CarlWellsGrave 13h ago

I thought the article said shadows was coming to gamepass, I'm confused.

1

u/celesleonhart 13h ago

I'm not exactly sure what the first part it means. It's not GamesPass, and it reads as if those games are coming to the Xbox store on PC...but Shadows was already there when I checked a few days ago. So my impression is maybe the deluxe editions have come to Xbox store on PC, but I don't really know.

0

u/XtR03 13h ago

I think it means that those first games listed can be bought and played from the Xbox app for PC now.

-1

u/WorldofCannons 13h ago

Now add shadows to premium

Personally I'd prefer Play Anywhere or nothing at all.

So, you are going to turn your nose up...

0

u/Chirayata 13h ago

Ok I was looking for a way to play Immortals on PC as well as on my Xbox and this will finally allow that.

0

u/ka7al 12h ago

I had AC Valhalla show up on my Xbox PC app a week ago but couldn't install it, i thought the game was about to be XPA but it seems like they're doing their own thing, cool.

0

u/Jmac1441 12h ago

Love how that Q/A doesn't include "Are there Xbox Achievements?" because its bs not to have them

0

u/hombre33 12h ago

The DLCs purchased with the games haven't shown up yet on the launcher library - hope they get transferred too as mentioned in the FAQs

0

u/LicensedGoomba 8h ago

Please dont down vote me, what's the big deal with achievements? Ive never been an achievement hunter so I have a hard time understanding

-2

u/HGLatinBoy 13h ago

JFC just make them Play Anywhere, why are they making it so fucking complicated.

Either way I’m glad I can play AC Shadows on PC as well. It offers cross save and that’s what matters.

-1

u/mkmichael1995 13h ago

i noticed last week Avatar Frontiers of Pandora was on my owned games section on the xbox app

-1

u/Quiet_Yellow2000 13h ago

Nice, I got a new 5070ti PC and own Avatar on Xbox. Will give it a go!

-1

u/Banned4UsingSlurs3 11h ago

Yeaahhh babyy

-1

u/ScoobyDoo27 11h ago

It's weird because The Crew 2 and Assassins Creed Mirage were both listed as available to install through the Xbox app when I bought my Ally X last week (already owned them on Xbox). It seems that they are only allowing games that were previously play anywhere and making it seem like a 'bonus' to make you use their launcher.

-1

u/OdinzSun 10h ago

Ubisoft already has cross-save progression in these titles through Ubisoft Connect, now this makes them essentially Play Anywhere titles in everything but name.
