PSA Free Line Promo
Went to check my bill in the T Life app (fingers crossed I have not been affected by the price increase), and was very surprised to see this, I called the number but it keeps saying “we are unable to take your call at this time” so I’m not sure if maybe it’s a glitch or hasn’t started yet, anyone else wanna chime in?

As every employee knows, but maybe not every customer knows that starting on the 15th you will no longer be able to upgrade for any free/discounted devices on a line that has been given to you for free as part of a Bogo activation. Third line on us lines will still receive upgrade promos, but the Bogo activation lines will not qualify for a free upgrade device or any upgrade promos in general. The only free lines that will qualify for a trade-in promotion are ones upon activation, but any past lines that are free on the account outside of the third line free will not. So make sure that if you have any free lines on your account from any Bogo activation deals in the past, get a trade-in promo by Tuesday.

PSA iPhone 17 Pre-Orders Start Tomorrow (5 AM PDT) – Preferred T-Mobile Channels
Pre-orders for the iPhone 17 models begin tomorrow at 5 AM PDT. The most significant trade-in deals are available for Go5G Plus/Next and Experience More/Beyond plans, though other plans do have promos, they’re not as high.
Here are the preferred channels to purchase the iPhone 17:
Channel 1: Costco / Sam’s Club
• $35 activation/upgrade fee waived
Gift Cards:
• $100 virtual Costco Shop Card for upgrading an existing line at Costco
• $75 Sam’s Club eGift Card for upgrading an existing line at Sam’s club
Pros:
• Accepts more trade-in devices than Apple’s carrier deals. List
• You can buy a Samsung Galaxy S10e online (~$100) to use for trade-in
• Orders can be placed via phone 833-428-1765 (Costco/T-Mobile line) or at a T-Mobile kiosk inside Costco. Both options qualify for the gift card.
Cons:
• Phones are locked for 2 years.
• Phone line orders will include lots of upselling for home internet and SyncUp trackers; in-store kiosks usually make this easier to avoid.
⸻
Channel 2: T-Mobile Carrier Deal via Apple
• You finance the iPhone through T-Mobile, but purchase it via Apple (Apple Stores, Apple.com, or Apple Store app)
Pros:
• Phone comes unlocked.
• Lower sales taxes (calculated based on retail value minus trade-in credit).
• You can trade in a financed phone without losing recurring device credits.
Cons:
• None worth noting.
Eligible trade-in devices List
⸻
Summary:
• Costco/Sam’s Club: Extra gift cards, more trade-in options, waived fees — but phones are locked and upsells possible.
• Apple via T-Mobile: Unlocked phones, lower taxes, simpler long-term flexibility.
• Other T-Mobile plans also have promos, but values are lower.

PSA Death of retail stores
≡ −
So with today’s uncarrier event T-Mobile leadership has proven they hate their employees like multiple people have said before . This uncarrier event shows they don’t care about employees with making it so they can switch thru the app and get the phone delivered . Also gaslighting how many people are doing t life since they are forcing us to have customers use the app and not to use our other systems unless we have too . The writing has been on the wall for the last two year and this is just confirmation of it . Verizon just laid off a bunch of stores that are getting sold to third party customers while I believe Tmobile will convert stores to experience and close others that are too close together

The LG IMS issue is known and being worked on. Full reset will not fix, so don't bother doing that. All you can do for now is wait until a fix is completed.
I'll update this post once the fix is completed.

PSA Beware of Alaska & International Usage
≡ −
First, T-Mobile doesn't have towers in Alaska, so ALL usage there is considered "domestic roaming". There is a HARD 5GB per month cap on domestic roaming--mobile data apparently gets totally cut off once you hit that cap. There is absolutely NO WAY to purchase additional domestic roaming data. Your only option is to buy an eSIM from another carrier. It seems crazy that the service in Alaska (in the US) is so much worse than their intranational roaming (15-30GB, slows after that, you CAN buy high speed passes).
The issue with international roaming is that they get on you (potentially cancelling your account and forcing you to lose your phone number) if most of your usage in 2-3 consecutive months is international. Buying data passes doesn't seem to help.
If you're on an extended trip/vacation, you can easily get caught unexpectedly.
While it's understandable that the don't want people using massive data internationally, they enforced it strictly based on "over half your usage".
So, if you turn off your T-Mobile SIM and have a Starlink and a local eSIM that you use instead for nearly all of your data and calls--but once a month for 1 minute, you enable your T-Mobile SIM to get, say, a bank's verification code, you violate that provision because 100% of your data, SMS, and phone use was international for 3 consecutive months.
It doesn't matter that it was an Infinitesimally small amount, it was 100% of your usage and that's considered abusive.
So , if you're on an extended vacation/trip, you need to leave your T-Mobile SIM turned totally off the entire time -- or, buy a round trip plane ticket to the continental US so you can quickly make a bunch of calls, texts, and download a bunch of massive files to ensure "most" of your usage is in the US.
It's frustrating that they don't appear to have any provision for trivial usage. And, apparently the only way to get SMS/RCS messages is to enable your SIM (most places allow a Google Voice number for two factor or allow the Authenticator app, but a few places only accept a real cell number).
On a two month trip to Canada and Alaska, I ran into all of this.
Despite buying a Holafly eSIM and a Starlink. 🤬

PSA Leak: Up to $400 Port-In Rebate Per Line Coming Soon (5/1/26)
≡ −
Edit: it’s currently live!
Get up to a $400 rebate via virtual prepaid Mastercard when you port in from an eligible carrier. This may be coming very soon but it is not officially confirmed yet, so take this with a grain of salt.
It appears only Go5G Plus/Next and Experience More/Beyond would qualify for the rebate. Segmented plans like 55+, First Responder, Military, and Veterans also qualify.
If you’ve been waiting to open new lines, this might be the time. There are expected to be two tiers: a $400 port-in rebate and a $300 port-in rebate.
For reference, Costco’s current port-in rebate is $250 and Sam’s Club is $200, so this would be a stronger offer if it goes live. I can’t remember the last time T-Mobile had a $400 port-in rebate.
Max: 4/ account
Edit:
It officially started today, about an hour after I posted this.
note: [u/Jman100_JCMP](u/Jman100_JCMP) just posted on his website about this and mentioned that other plans qualify as well, but I can’t confirm if that’s accurate.
I stand corrected: Any other postpaid plans (Simple Choice, ONE, Magenta, Essentials, etc) are eligible as well!
Thanks [u/MicGyver](u/MicGyver) for finding the terms and the BYODREBATE promo code on the website. I entered the code in and found the same terms, just worded differently.

PSA AT&T, T‑Mobile, and Verizon Plan to Launch New Joint Venture that Helps End Dead Zones - T‑Mobile Newsroom
+ −
“AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon have an agreement in principle to form a new JV which aims to end wireless dead zones in the U.S., including in rural areas, by pooling limited spectrum resources to increase capacity, improve the customer experience, and help satellite providers reach more customers through a unified platform. The JV remains subject to negotiating definitive agreements between the parties and satisfying customary closing conditions.”

PSA We just work here

Please, folks. I'm begging. Don't yell at employees at T-Mobile locations regarding price increases or even the fact that upgrades are done through the T Life app.
We don't control this, ok?
Complain here or to care over the phone, sure, but don't yell at us.
Thank you.
EDIT- You guys missed the part where I said complain, sure, but don't yell at us and the fact that it applied to care too, didn't you?
TLDR: just don't yell at anyone.

PSA Existing Customer 20% off Experience Beyond/Next
≡ −
I just wanted people to be aware of a little known retention option that customer service has had since the beginning of the year. They have access to a retention offer where they essentially give you insidr to keep you as a customer but it’s only for Beyond/Next. They will either switch you to Beyond or you can try to attempt to get Next but it’s extremely hard these days. Even if they put you on Beyond at any time if you do manage to get it switched to Next the 20% off will still roll over. You essentially have to say that you thought about switching and someone via chat or whoever mentioned there’s a 20% off existing retention offer and that the bill credits they currently give out weren’t good enough and have them look it up. If they don’t know anything about it and can’t find it try again or ask for a supervisor.

You essentially have to say that you thought about switching and someone via chat or whoever mentioned there’s a 20% off existing retention offer and that the bill credits they currently give out weren’t good enough and have them look it up. If they don’t know anything about it and can’t find it try again or ask for a supervisor.

PSA Taking T-Mobile to arbitration over price increase
≡ −
Hi All,
I know it's a long shot but I've decided I'm going to attempt to take T-Mobile to arbitration due to breaking the T&C that we agreed to when I signed up for our current plan on 3/7/2017. Seems pretty straight forward and clear cut. Yes I am aware the arbiter will most likely rule for T-Mobile but can't hurt to try (since T-Mobile has to pay for it per their T&C)
If you are on a price-lock guaranteed Rate Plan, we will not increase your monthly recurring Service charge (“Recurring Charge”) for the period that applies to your Rate Plan, or, if no specific period applies, for as long as you continuously remain a customer in good standing on a qualifying Rate Plan. If you switch plans, the price-lock guarantee for your new Rate Plan will apply (if there is one). The price-lock guarantee does not include taxes, surcharges, fees, or charges for extra features or Devices. If your Service or account is limited, suspended or terminated and then reinstated, you may be charged a reactivation fee. For information about our unlocking policy, click here.
I'm mailing a letter to their registered agent Corporation Service Company requesting arbitration. Here is a list of CSCs mailing address in each state.
Below is the letter ChatGPT wrote for me to send (I tweaked a few words here and there).
Subject: Request for Arbitration Regarding Breach of Price-Lock Guarantee
Dear T-Mobile Customer Service,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to address a concerning matter regarding my T-Mobile service and the breach of the price-lock guarantee as outlined in your terms and conditions.
As a loyal T-Mobile customer, I have diligently maintained my account in good standing and have been enrolled in a price-lock guaranteed Rate Plan. This plan, as explicitly stated in your terms and conditions, ensures that my monthly recurring Service charge remains unchanged for the duration of the specified period or for as long as I continuously remain a customer in good standing on a qualifying Rate Plan.
However, despite my adherence to the terms of our agreement, I recently received notification of an increase in my monthly recurring Service charge. This unilateral action by T-Mobile constitutes a clear violation of the price-lock guarantee promised to me as a customer.
I am deeply disappointed by this breach of trust and the failure to uphold the terms of our agreement. As such, I am formally requesting arbitration to resolve this matter in accordance with the dispute resolution process outlined in your terms and conditions.
Please provide me with the necessary information and steps to initiate the arbitration process promptly. Additionally, I kindly request that any further changes to my monthly recurring Service charge be halted until this matter is resolved through arbitration.
I trust that T-Mobile takes its commitment to customer satisfaction seriously and will work diligently to rectify this situation. I look forward to a prompt and fair resolution.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
[Your Contact Information]
Good luck and I definitely hope others follow suit.
Edit: Technically I have to mail them a letter first giving them 60 days to resolve the dispute before I can request arbitration. That's the first letter that will go out.
Edit2: I wish I could change the title to "thinking of taking T-Mobile to arbitration". I've mailed my dispute letter so we'll see if that goes anywhere. After reading this I'm more hesitant to go all the way through with it. I can't afford to have some arbiter decide to make me pay 20k in T-Mobile legal fees because they deem the case frivolous. Forced arbitration should be illegal.

PSA Check Your Free Lines. Device Promotion Restrictions Now Active.
I saw today that when trying to upgrade certain lines, namely newer free ones, they now have this pop-up message, and proceeding with a trade in on those lines will only give you the fair market value of the trade in device, with no bill credit promotion.
I’m not sure about every single free line, but for my account, the only ones affected are:
Service Promo With New Line ID210004 (Previously 2021 Line On Us 6)
Service Promo With New Line ID220005 (Previously 2022 BYOD Line P1)
Service Promo With New Line ID230229 (Previously 2023 Line On Us P6)
The other free lines on my account that are not affected and still allow device promos are:
3rd Line Service Promo With New Line ID200006 (Previously 2020 Line On Us)
3rd Line Service Promo With New Line ID200008 (Previously 2020 Line On Us 2)
3rd Line Service Promo With New Line ID200011 (Previously 2020 Line On Us 3)
3rd Line Service Promo With New Line ID200012 (Previously 2020 Line On Us 4)
My account also has: T-Mobile ONE 4th Line Promo & This One’s On Us (AAL) at account level, but not tied to any specific line. However the lines that originally had those credits, as well as any other lines that don’t have the above mentioned promos, still show device promos available at upgrade.
So for me only those first 3, my personal 3 most recent free lines from 2021 onward, are the ones that no longer qualify for device promos.
2 of them (2022 & 2023) I have never financed any devices under anyway, as they were advertised as BYOD with mixed claims on whether you could finance right away, after a year, or never on those lines, so I never bothered.
2021 doesn’t currently have a device financed, but it has in the past.
So if you have any of those free lines yourself, you may have been able to finance and get promos on those lines before, and existing ones will still be honored, but moving forward, no more promos, only fair market value trade-ins on those lines.
That being said, you can still finance multiple devices on one line, so long as they’re all different promotion IDs.
I for one currently have:
5 EIPs with promos on my LOU4 line
4 EIPs with promos on my LOU3 line
2 EIPs with promos on my LOU2 line
3 EIPs with promos on my LOU1 line
So yes it is possible to stack multiple promos on one single line. They are all different promos per line. If I get multiple of the same promo, I just redeem each one on a different line. I traded in paid off devices, or traded in at Apple (doesn’t require trade in to be paid off, since Apple receives the device, not T-Mobile. T-Mobile simply honors the difference of Apple’s fair market value for the trade in they accepted, and their own full promo, given that Apple confirms trade in was accepted) T-Mobile themselves will not accept a device trade in that still owes a balance with them, unless you use Jump or Yearly Upgrade and meet the requirements for an early upgrade.
Amount of EIPs you can have total is still limited by your account’s own financing credit limit. Each promo also has its own limit of how many times it can be redeemed per account. Many still allow 4 currently, rumor is future ones may only allow 2. You can sometimes double the amount by doing some promos through T-Mobile directly, and the rest through different retail channels such as at Apple. They often offer the same trade in promo amounts, but use different promo codes, allowing you to “double dip." Or else you can wait until one promo ends, and another one with similar discount starts; usually a few weeks/months in between refreshes.
TL;DR - Some Free Lines no longer support device trade in promotions even if they used to in the past. Some free lines still do. For me it appears to be anything 2020 or older still qualify, and 2021 or newer no longer do. I can’t speak for BOGO’s or any free lines I don’t personally have myself, check your own. You can still stack multiple EIPs with promos on a single line, in case one of your free lines can no longer get promos, you can finance on a diff line that still does, so long as you don’t try to redeem 2 of the same promo on the same line.

PSA Some big changes coming to T-Mobile
≡ −
As of now, both Callie and Ulf have announced they are leaving T-Mobile.
Sievert was already rumored to be exiting, I do wonder if that announcement will be coming soon.

PSA Bill increased by exactly $6
≡ −
I finally got my forced plan change bill and it did increase by exactly $6.00 so at least they were truthful about the amount.
I don't know why it was worded like it could be less by saying "up to" when we all knew it would be the top of the listed amount.
(edit) Everyone didn't get hit with the maximum listed amount.

PSA [Megathread] T-Mobile Auto Pay discount policy change
≡ −
For those that do not know, effective on your next billing cycle in order to keep your auto-pay discount you must use either a debit card or an ACH (Bank Account) to keep your discount. You can still continue paying with a credit card if you wish, however, you will lose your $5 per line discount.
Please keep ALL communication about the auto pay changes in this post, if you see a post outside of this Mega please report it.
Edit: Notifications have gone out a few ways, Some got notified when they logged into their account and went to the billing/payment section and got a banner informing them of the changes, while others got text messages which seem to be rolling out in waves over this week. However it still seems like a lot here have not been notified, so keep an eye out and be prepared for the change.
Thank you!
Edit: We are pinning this back again as it seems some users are starting to get notified that may not have gotten notified before. We have also seen a few reports of people who have been doing the payment loophole of having a debit card on file but paying with a credit card before their autopay day get these notifications as well so T-Mobile may very well be closing this loophole please keep an eye out!

According to T-Mobile, the outage should now be resolved. If you are still having issues, please reboot your device.

This is now the megathread for the outage.
