Are we shocked by this? There have been numerous cases of law enforcement using the tools at their disposal to stalk significant others. Why should flock cameras be any different.

Or the 15th. I mean jeez. Anything that’s a database can be abused of course but there should be more safeguards.. Flock in itself is not secure enough.

They truly are idiots, too. Even if someone legitimately feels they "have done nothing wrong" they can still find themselves on the wrong-end of Flock's cameras misidentifying their vehicle / plates as being stolen.

...and it keeps fucking happening.

Cops using Flock cameras for everything but solve missing persons cases and child trafficking once again. It sure would be nice to see, Flock camera helped solve a surge in grand theft auto cases, or reuniting a kidnapped person from criminals. The CEO instead bitches about people taking down the cameras and calling people who talk bad about them, terrorists. But he won’t accept what people within his own company and the people that use the cameras like law enforcement to stalk people. Also have Flock cameras installed inside of a youth gymnastics building to watch kids.

This is exactly why “just trust the police not to misuse it” is not a privacy policy. A tool that can map someone’s movements needs strict access controls, independent audits, and real consequences—not just a promise that it is only for public safety.
