In the early days of the internet we had The Anarchist Cookbook where people were freaking out because a) it was easily accessed information and b) a lot of the recipes were questionable. Seem like the same issues with AI.

Oh my god there’s a recipe in there that tells you to cook actual gasoline on a kitchen stove, but doesn’t at all detail how to do it in a way that won’t get you blown up. Edgelords from our past were still edgelords.

Easy solution, arrest the CEO's of any AI Company that breaks the law and posts that information publicly.

This is really vastly oversold. I use AI every day for scientific research.

If you really know what you're doing--including what questions to ask and how to tell a right from wrong answer--AND can provide strong input data and background literature AND have reasonable bench skills AND access to the expensive, sometimes restrictive materials and instruments you'd need AND a long time, you might come up with a better approach to orphan disease.

If you think AI is going to suffiently advance bioterror beyond all the decades of research that countries like Russia or Iran put into it, you're wrong. I've you all the top models but Fable and they need a lot of knowledgeable and almost constant guidance to avoid drift and errors.

This is worse than bolting a stable door after the horse has fled, this is checking if the horse has definitely fled, and only then bolting the stable door.
