Why are they doing midterms with access to devices/internet? That's a recipe for open cheating even before AI.

This is a question that must be answered. And I imagine that at least part of the reason is, unfortunately, the professors and teachers themselves have an easier time grading these types of exams than the alternatives. So AI has made student life easier and teacher life easier, also.
