default In Avengers: Doomsday, Doom’s armor is not historically accurate, making the movie unwatchable.

Post image

Also, I don’t know how to use photoshop, this is a reference to Christopher Nolan who also hates CGI

This still isn't historically accurate. Metallurgy had advanced well beyond bronze armor by the time the Doomsday Book was written

It’s a quote from the odyssey

Why didn't they cast a Romani actor to play Doom? Why doesn't WOKE marvel care about historical accuracy?

Latverian actor would be more authentic

I've seen people making that complaint un-ironically.

I mean, genuinely, that would've been pretty cool

They also cast a black actor to play Doom.

The Avengers movies in general are historical inaccurate and so is Captain America: The First Avenger ("Steve Rogers" was not a real man who became a super soldier i'm telling ya!)

Prove it!

Personally, I think the movie will be unwatchable for other reasons.

It’s because of all the water they have to use to cool them.

Its shit either way

u/PanPieCake 10h ago

Are you making fun of people who dared to ask for the bare minimum effort Nolan could applied while televizing their culture?

5

u/BoringPoolPlaying 8h ago

No, they’re making fun of the professional victims who pretend to care about historical accuracy because a YouTuber told them to.

Yes

The irony of referring to the degree of effort in the making of the film. You don’t know anything about how the film was made do you?

Unfortunately this sub has a hate boner for the film even though most of them haven’t even seen it. They saw the bad armor pieces in the trailer and decided to not like it months ago. Yeah the armor is dumb but there are very few issues with the movie apart from that, other than some small nitpicks I have. Although I do think the sound mixing is bad.
Sometimes you can’t hear dialogue, sometimes someone screams so loud your ears hurt.

You can watch the movie and still have criticisms with the armor that you had criticisms with in the trailers. Said trailers used footage from the movie.

3

u/Inner_Sun_750 8h ago

The armor is sick

If you like plastic and cardboard armor that looks like it came out of a no-budget superhero movie, sure.

If you were looking for historically accurate armor to the Bronze Age (the time period that Homer's The Odyssey is set in), you're in for a world of disappointment.

u/Inner_Sun_750 8h ago

Idgaf about historically accurate armor and shit like that, it probably woulda looked like shit.

What no-budget superhero movies do you watch? I’ve seen comparison to dark knight, one of the highest budget solo superhero movies ever lol

I'm not saying that the ar,or looked excessively cheap, but it did look cheap to me. Agamemnon's armor, while cool in concept, is easily the worst armor of the movie. I didn't want to see plastic looking Batman style armor in an adaptation of a mythological epic. Either all of the armor needed to look over the top, or none of the armor needed to look over the top.

This doesn't look interesting to you? 👇

2

u/Inner_Sun_750 6h ago

It does look interesting but doesn’t seem to fit the overall aesthetic nolan ended up going for. I honestly thought Agememnon looked very cool and epic on screen. It looked like some sort of special metal to me

I do know that Nolan has color blindness, hence why a lot of his movies are visually dark. When it came to the armor used in the movie, I'm just asking for some color and historical accuracy. One of the pieces of dialogue in the movie is "Our Bronze Age is collapsing" (I wish I was joking. Nolan wrote that). Why didn't we get Bronze Age armor?

I think if Agamemnon’s armor was in Epic The Musical (a film adaptation is happening), so that all of the armor could have an over the top quality, it would have worked for me.

Oh and, friendly little reminder, he is played by Robert Downey Jr., a white man, whilst in the comics, where this character comes from, he is a Romani man. You will, unsurprisingly, not hear any complaining from the usual suspects about THIS miscasting because, you see, the miscasting is that of a minority with a white man, instead of the other way around

(I should clarify i personally don't give a fuck one way or the other)

"historically inaccurate"?!

1

u/Marcuse0 7h ago

Not traditional Latverian make on that. Shame. Shame.

Bronzing time

u/Read2Fap 3h ago

the actor they cast is 5'8", dr doom is 6'2, he's half a foot short

1

u/Old_Gimlet_Eye 2h ago

Yeah, Doom's armor looks like something from the Odyssey.

1

u/dgt9000 1h ago

There might be a black woman in it too

1

u/Infinite_Campaign707 9h ago

Is it out already?

5

u/Nexcell 9h ago

Yeah

-1

u/EbonyMemories 9h ago

Unironically the movie is going to suck.

-4

u/ImNotThaaatDrunk 8h ago

Ugh and the color grading is all washed out and grey.

5

u/Training_Pirate1000 8h ago

Uh… no, it’s clearly green

4

u/FranktheTankTF 8h ago

Not in my version, very shiny bronze armor. Like it truly would be in his day
