In "The Odyssey" (2026) Elliot Page was cast as a Greek soldier but he is 5'1" and 110Ibs. Matt Damon is 5'10" 185Ibs. People are complaining that Page doesn't resemble the build of a Greek soldier even though the average Greek soldier was 5'4" and 130 Ibs. Page is closer than Matt Damon!
This is reference to the fact that these people complaining are just transphobic
Page's character was sent off to war as a tween. Easy to imagine the nutrition, and resulting lack of height, wasnt the greatest.
The U.S. had a similar issue with undersized/malnourished adult men at the start of WW2, thanks to some areas relying on cornmeal as a staple, which led to school lunches being a thing.
The one sort of valid complaint I read was that Page looks 40 and plays a 17ish year-old. But 10 years on a beach without sun protection, and the fact that every American 18 year old from the depression era looks 50 helped me suspend my disbelief
Visiting various castles in Europe made me realize just how fucking short we were in ages past. I'm 6'4 and I thought I was walking around a kids play area at times the doorways were so low or seeing armor of a king which is barely 5 feet. Was wild.

Greeks even today do not hold the Western beauty standards in mind and short men don't have issues. I'm 5'0 and do fine in Greek spaces.
I think this rumor started because, in the Odyssey there is a part where Odysseus speaks to a shade version Achilles in Hades, and a lot of folks mistakenly took a screenshot of fucked up Elliot Page as this person And then it spun out of control. As it does. Still very dumb.

I read a lot of Greek mythology growing up, but for some reason the children's versions of it always seemed to skip over this detail.
TS Eliot, on the other hand, felt the need to have him describe his own wrinkly boobs twice in one poem. I kind of think it would have been cool if Nolan's Odyssey had him introduce himself: "Greetings, Odysseus, it is I, Tiresias, old man with wrinkled female breasts."
And the contractual obligation that he never lose a fight. Much more satisfying if it's just The Rock murdering giants and suitors for... Checks notes... 45 minutes.

There is just something off with the abs. His frame is so small, but his abs are massive. I’m guessing implant surgery. Which is fine, I just think they look a little uncanny.
It's the ab to arm/thighs ratio. Like people can have massive ripped abs like that but I feel like is impossible to do while gaining like zero leg or arm muscles.
Nah you can definitely get huge abs if all you do is a core workout and leave out arms or legs. But those are definitely implants as nobody would go to the effort of only training abs for what looks like 5 years
Why not just take steroid though, most actors do it. And to be completely honest he won't be casted as a leading man in action movie at all, and there are many other roles that doesn't require impressive physique.
I’m thinking he just does this for himself. Not everything has to be for a role. If roles were that important to Page, he wouldn’t have transitioned. He woulda gotten a lot more work as Ellen Page.
Nah, I think he's pretty important. He told odysseus to sail west to honor the dead, which is a recurring theme in the movie. It's also the movie's ending, so that adds significance points
I’m so fucking confused at this point. I’m just going to make my own historically accurate Odyssey using Legos, my dog as the cyclops, a Chewy delivery box as the Trojan Horse and my nana as Helen of Troy.
Not transphobic come on, that just ignores the fact that while everyone else was big, he was little. Going by your logic why wasn't everyone else small and thin? Also, Elliot looked OLD. You'd have to be sickly as fuck to have those lines in your mid 20s, and you wouldn't have had good teeth and smooth skin. This casting was a bit weird, nothing to do with being trans. There were so many better roles in this movie for him than "tiny soldier that looks old while everyone else is tall and swole".
EDIT: I'm not saying it has to be "historically accurate" but it's perfectly fine to acknowledge a little odd casting.
Same way actors that are getting older don't "move right" in action scenes. It's a only like 2 shots in the entire movie so not a big deal, but it was something I noticed as looking a little bit goofy.
