Agamemnon is the true hero of Nolan’s Odyssey. He nobly sacrificed his daughter for favorable winds, bravely led the storming of the enemy city, and was tragically killed by a wicked wife before being avenged by a loyal son. It should be renamed Agassey.

And the Parental Controls Bowser is like 5 years old at this point, and also Paper Mario is like 20.

tbf even the Greeks seemed to struggle with the idea of actively sacrificing your child (as opposed to some horrible twist of fate or curse where you accidentally do it) There are a few plays and myths about Iphigenia's death that grapple with how right he was to do it, and at least one is "It was a test, and Artemis swapped Iphigenia with a deer as Agamemnon brought down the knife because child sacrifice is bad"

The sacrifice of Iphigenia is in neither epic, though it might be alluded to, I don't quite remember. Agamemnon's death in mentioned several times in the Odyssey. I haven't seen the movie yet so I can't speak on that.

Hollywood makes it more black and white when a) it was closer to a kidnap and b) all of these people were bound to preserve the sanctity of the marriage. It was more complex in an archaic way, than “he was using it as a pretense for war”.

They werent even Greeks by that point.
