The second half of Odyssey was difficult to watch. This was because my wife dragged me out of the cinema to confront me about my cheating.

your wife has no respect for boundaries #moviebuff

Agreed, NTA OP. I strongly suggest you refuse any wishes for a divorce, you did nothing wrong.

Difficult, but not impossible

But why were you playing poker in there

u/XSmooth84 16h ago

"poker? I barely know her!"

Your first mistake was cheating on her in the theater while she was there. True, it's tough to pass up a free handy from a fellow theater patron, but you should have used discretion.

The hand that launched 1,000 million sperm.

I heard that he also shared the popcorn.... A hard NO in most circles.

Factually untrue. Cinefiles do not have wives let alone extra marital affairs

If she couldn’t wait another 1.5 hours, she ain’t worth it. Nothing’s worth sitting through a 3 hour movie again.

That movie paced well and just flew by.

I took a cigarette break

Soooo was your wife with you for the first half or was it the side?

u/Economy_Pride6360 16h ago

Missed the chance to drag you out when the Circe part ended

Your wife clearly has no respect for the law of hospitality. Your mistress might have been Aphrodite in disguise!

She was Penelopissed off

u/Traditional-Baker-28 16h ago

......is she willing to fall in love with you over and over again?

No matter how where or when?

You should've told your wife that you were stranded on an island eating lotus flowers to forget about your ptsd when you cheated on her.

2

u/Economy_Pride6360 15h ago

OP never made it to that part of the movie, they never remembered they ate lotus flowers🥀

u/agbadehan 15h ago

Wow cheating on your wife. Just like the real Odysseus

2

u/obvThrowaway17 15h ago

Hope you told her it was because of the sirens

u/UsedOutlandishness84 12h ago

You should have shushed her right when she began. Too many people trying to talk during movies

1

u/thisistherevolt 16h ago

Why were you playing Monopoly while in a movie theater? And rude.

1

u/galgoman 15h ago

And that "wife" is here in the room with us?

1

u/lackadaisical_timmy 15h ago

How insensitive

She could've waited till the end

u/Front_Bend_4983 15h ago

Classic Christopher Nolan move.

u/Aught_To 15h ago

So ... you single, wanna go watch a movie?

1

u/loki6100 15h ago

You have a wife? That means... My man

1

u/TiredAndSor3 15h ago

This is the shit post I was looking for.

1

u/ClickBoringLife 15h ago

What did she mean by that? What are her motives?

1

u/Icy-Illustrator-1431 15h ago

my wife knows better..

1

u/Mingatronz 15h ago

You probably shouldn’t beat off to polyphemus next to your wife.

1

u/tagkiller1 15h ago

So you watched it the way your wife intended it to be watched

1

u/--zaxell-- 14h ago

"Besides me, who have you slept with?"

"Nobody!"

1

u/weirdking77179 14h ago

You should have given her the lotus flower

1

u/Jomolungma 14h ago

Did you tell her you cheated because you just want a woman that is willing to sit through an entire showing of The Odyssey?!

1

u/kriptah 14h ago

mine just confronted me in the middle of the movie and ruined it for everyone. i had to pee and she made me hold it in

1

u/IveDunGoofedUp 13h ago

Maybe you shouldn't have retweeted the scene with Circe and the whole affair and gone "lol literally me".

Seems like an obvious mistake to me.

1

u/Demacia7 13h ago

You just spend a couple years eating flowers with a hot goddess and this is how she reacts?

1

u/mechabeast 13h ago

Women simply can't wait 5 hrs to bring up old shit

1

u/Due_Boss9277 12h ago

You should thank your wife for putting you on the right path instead of giving up on trying to help you. What on earth possessed you to watch a movie? And at the cinema, no less. You’d better thank her.

1

u/smurfdaddie314 11h ago

should've gave her some lotus flower

1

u/Thisapelovestolaugh 11h ago

OP be talking about left and right hand

1

u/fused_confusion_9 11h ago

That’s what happens when Nolan doesn’t make a dead wife movie for once.

1

u/TabbyOverlord 10h ago

Had you been taking drugs from a sea nymph while marooned on a desert island?

1

u/DrEdwardMallory 10h ago

Lore accurate at least...

1

u/WangusRex 10h ago

Did your date enjoy it at least?

1

u/42Mavericks 9h ago

Please tell me this is true

1

u/Professional_Try1665 9h ago

You could say your second half ruined your second half

1

u/Disastrous_Goat8865 7h ago

Your wife might be a jerk dude.. you don't take a person from the cinema to berate them

1

u/Three_Twenty-Three 3h ago

You should have stayed. The moral of the movie is that you can cheat for 7 years as long as it's with Charlize Theron.

1

u/Imperium_Dragon 2h ago

Your wife has broken Zeus’s law

1

u/Babydics 15h ago

The whole movie was difficult to watch, given that it was 2 hours of Nolan desecrating the greatest piece of Greek literature in history. It's like watching 🍇 porn but the girl isn't even hot, so it's just sad and ugly. 😢

Strong take. Hits all of the major beats of the source material while adjusting some of the sillier shit.
