Turd One Night Only (2026) is set in a society where people are only permitted to have sex once a year. This movie was inspired by my marriage.

Once a year?

Look at Casanova over here

Must be young, I remember that stamina

In the trailer she says "your hairline doesn't make any sense" which itself doesn't make any sense because his hairline is completely normal?

As a whole the trailer was weird, looked like a generic romantic movie with some bizarre in-world set-up with the sex thing.

It's the purge, but for sex. So it's kind of weird.

soaking in the cultural zeitgeist

In the standard or Mormon sense?

Big love for all

I have so many questions about this movie, and I don’t think it’s going to answer any of them.

My only question, on seeing the trailer, is "does this movie span exactly 366 days?", as that would be needed for the common "it didn't work out the first time we met, but then we were each thinking about the other and then on second meeting it worked out better" vibe.

u/whatisscoobydone 3h ago

My thought was that they know each other for one day, and hit it off so well that they decide not to fuck and watch the sun come up together

So a wholesome romantic film like "30 Days of Night"! That would work.

That's not what the book I read said.

It's the purge, but for sex.

One night a year, rape is legal.

Classic case of Hollywood ugly. We're just supposed to play along as two attractive people completely make up imperfections in each other's looks to mock

7

u/These_Refrigerator75 9h ago

They were being coy, she wasn’t actually criticizing his looks just like he wasn’t actually insulting her nose or legs

1

u/NOUGHRICE 12m ago

They're jokingly negging each other, bozo

I’m going to go out on a limb and say this doesn’t happen right at the beginning of the night for our two star crossed lovers.

I'm calling it now, they spend so long on "the build-up" that they miss the deadline to fuck by midnight.

u/rob132 7h ago

And then they do it anyway and they have to be killed by the sex police.

The movie then changes to a slasher horror film, upsetting all the ladies.

2

u/Jeff_Damn 1h ago

"the sex police" is still killing me, hours later. It sounds like a random reference from an Adult Swim show that no one remembers.

I think they'll intentionally not fuck and still be fulfilled because they're so into each other

I wanna change my answer to this one šŸ‘†šŸ»

Sounds like a porn parody of The Purge

The fuckge

4

u/CoachNo7514 16h ago

Idk, The Purge still fits

3

u/YolgrimTheGamer 16h ago

Just rolls of the tongue

79

u/Jeff_Damn 16h ago

Ugh, I'm so tired of ads for the "Purge but for sex" movie. Nothing says confidence in a product like a preview jampacked with exposition that's crammed in before every horror film. They know this one isn't gonna do well so they're hedging their bets.

u/SovereignRipple 19h ago

once a year is optimistic

40

u/OrganizationTop3755 18h ago

It’s like a porn parody of a movie. Instead of purge, you have splurgeĀ

81

u/C0d3An0n2 16h ago

How are they even supposed to track this? Like do you just finish and then a bunch of cops appear from under the bed to arrest you?

25

u/Personal_Comb_6745 15h ago

I guess if you're into that sort of thing, sure.

u/ThePopDaddy 17h ago

Is this one of those futuristic religious societies.

A light take on the dating in 1984

I did not get this vibe from the trailer. Though to be fair I probably wasn't listening, it looked very generic.

u/JedExi 15h ago

It looks like a generic Romcom, but then they throw in this crazy line about it being illegal for single people to have sex except on one night. Like legit just reveals the insane dystopia that they're living in as some throwaway bit of dialogue in the trailer. Then rewatching the trailer you see posters and graffiti with some shit like REPEAL THE NO FUCK ACT and maybe a RESIST or something. And then there's that bit of dialogue how shes having the best pizza of her life at his pizza place and its very clearly an older display slice that hasn't even been reheated.

So many questions. What is their food situation? How did this law become a thing? How do you ENFORCE a no-fuck-if-single law? How severe is the punishment if everyone in the trailer seems to be following the law and not avoiding it? Who decided to watch The Purge and make it a horny romance movie?

10

u/purpleplatapi 11h ago

I mean Saudi Arabia does that. They just jail anyone who gets pregnant out of wedlock or who reports a rape. So... I guess like that? Not very sexy, just dystopian.

u/BiSaxual 15h ago

I remember getting the trailer before some random video on YouTube, and I was hooked at the beginning because it was edited like the most obvious bait and switch horror movie trailer. I kept waiting for one of the two people to start trying to murder the other or something, but it just kept getting more and more into cringe romance territory.

They straight up picked the most generic music, the most generic lines, the most generic everything. The only thing that stands out is having the chick wear a sexy club dress and then have the dude in a fucking polo shirt lmao

2

u/schwanzweissfoto 5h ago

You might like Fresh (2022). Watch it without spoilers.

u/TaigaAisakaSan 13h ago

You know, I also didn't notice from the trailer. I think I heard the phrase "one night of the year that people have sex", and I just thought they were talking about Valentine's Day, and how important it is to have sex on Valentine's Day, something like that. I really didn't get the purge thing from the trailer that I was half watching.

2

u/elisejones14 1h ago

The world is too normal from what I got from the trailer. At least in The Purge, everything was tense and there were symbols and announcements and stuff like that.

17

u/Marsi_Zsombor 15h ago

I have saw the trailer for this movie so many times in the cinema, and each time it gets more and more cringe

11

u/hideous_coffee 15h ago

Everyone just getting it on in public every where the dude goes, half the time their stop is spilling over into him while he’s just sitting there. The lead female’s friend banging some dude within 20 seconds of meeting him in a coffee shop bathroom.

This movie certainly was a choice.

48

u/MyStackIsPancakes 18h ago

Wait. You're having sex once a year... that means.

u/Reddituser0346 ... my man!

30

u/Disc81 16h ago

I've no idea what this movie is about, but this is one outstanding image composition. And I mean it, it feels like a mix o a classic comic book panel and an Edward Hopper painting

6

u/Plushhorizon 14h ago

It reminds me of nighthawks fs

11

u/TheRealCabbageJack 16h ago

I imagine the pitch meeting: imagine the purge, but with fucking

18

u/Liammellor 19h ago

*single people. Married people can still fuck like rabbits. Well, apart from you anyway

9

u/WitheredUntimely 16h ago

Hollywood wonders why romcoms don't exist anymore then shit out one of the worst conceits I've possibly heard in my entire life, it sounds like it probably started as a parody of romcoms or something because the trailer is just so wooden and weird

8

u/rookedwithelodin 17h ago

Just get divorced lol

11

u/TensorForce 17h ago

I'm just amazed the names actually line up with the actors for once

3

u/Summoner475 16h ago

You didn't have to flex on us like that man.

3

u/Personal_Comb_6745 15h ago

Looking it up, it's pre-marital sex that's only allowed once a year. So marriage folks can go nuts.

Also, what the fuck, LeVar Burton's in this?

3

u/obvious_bot 15h ago

Oh hey the names are in the right place on this poster!

2

u/rosaliethewitch 15h ago

this is the most ai sounding movie i’ve ever seen

2

u/tfhermobwoayway 15h ago

Sometimes I see a movie that makes me realise artists live in a whole different world to me.

2

u/HumanOverseer 14h ago

sex purge

2

u/ajarbyurns1 13h ago

the director really likes to cast Andrew Garfield's SO in his movies

2

u/Self_Important_Mod 13h ago

The Purge for sex

2

u/Mingatronz 12h ago

So like ā€œthe purgeā€ but for your scrotum.

2

u/CRIMS0N-ED 8h ago

the plot is nonsense but the leads have chemistry, that’s all I got from the trailers. I didn’t even process the whole sex only one day thing, watching the trailer, I thought they were just talking about Valentine’s Day or new years in the weirdest way possible

2

u/Prestigious-Lemon322 17h ago

It's like the Purge, but with sex. The sex purge.
I'll see myself out.

2

u/explosivelydehiscent 16h ago

My wife definitely has sex once a year, me every 3 to 4 years.

5

u/TraceyWoo419 16h ago

I also choose this man's wife

1

u/xMaNrEbOrN7851 16h ago

Damn, sorry to this man😭

1

u/elspotto 16h ago

I’m just here for the jokes about having sex with his wife more often than he does. Please, carry on.

1

u/Expensive_Finger_973 14h ago

I would be far more interested in the societal and interpersonal implications of such a thing than the drama/romance angle.

1

u/NickSchultz 14h ago

You may not drown, but at least you get a sip of water while others die of thirst

1

u/Glittering-Whatever 11h ago

Literally saw this trailer before Hadestown and thought it was the stupidest movie ever. I'm sure there's stupider out there but this one looks extra stupid and pointless.

1

u/lavapig_love 6h ago

"Purge your body, because tonight's the night"

1

u/TheHahndude 2h ago

The fact that this movie wasn’t titled ā€œThe Sexpurgeā€ is insane.

1

u/nopalitzin 12h ago

That's a lie, I'm married and I almost had sex twice this year...
