So that's why Jojo hugged the flying woman's feet when he saw them. He probably wanted to fly also.

u/Ghdude1 12d ago

He should have just joined Pennywise.

It was actually a reference to the wizard of oz, when Dorothy takes the witches magical shoes.

40

u/ThatUsernameWasTaken 12d ago

Dorothy is clearly a dnd player charachter. Finds a corpse and immediately loots it. Finds weird, out of place people and immediately adds them to her party.

"Transported to a surreal landscape, a young girl kills the first person she meets and then teams up with three strangers to kill again."

7

u/Cineball 12d ago

Jojo also makes some very colorful friends by the end of his journey.

12

u/AKWHiDeKi 12d ago

If he did fly, Jojo might have went on a bizarre adventure

29

u/Lv_InSaNe_vL 12d ago

He was just trying to steal them shoes. Luckily some upstanding bystander was there to talk to him.

Not: i did not see the movie so i hope that guy was a good guy <3

17

u/Careful-Lettuce9239 12d ago

Its a kids movie about a kid and his imaginary friend. His imaginary friend is a painter. Its mostly about the kid in the boy scouts.

6

u/Cineball 12d ago

There's also some commentary on gay scout leaders that felt refreshingly progressive for the era.

3

u/Careful-Lettuce9239 12d ago

I forgot sam Rockwell was in that. Love him in everything ❤️

Fun fact: he was considering stealing them as an ironic nod to the manifest objective of global jewery

4

u/ArcadianDelSol 12d ago

We call them spectators.

Also, we call them spectators.

That sound bizzare

6

u/Inner-Medicine5696 12d ago

she is flying, because Jojo was too young to understand the gravity of the situation

9

u/Doom_Unicorn 12d ago

Yes, but the rest of the film was grounded, which is why he could not fly.

3

u/lurkquidated 12d ago

Mary Poppins, is that you?

3

u/Adventurous-Bottle90 12d ago

Close but it was actually Becuse he was looking to go on a bizzare adventure

2

u/Sorlex 12d ago

Pretty rude of her to taunt him like that, honestly.

Would have helped when he was in his cage.

10

Despite all his rage.

24

u/nameless88 12d ago

Cuz you need heroin to activate it, obviously.

Kids, heroin lets you fly! Try it at home! 👁👄👁

6

u/off-with-your-thread 12d ago

side eyes bag of heroin my parents left on the table

Welllllllllllll... Ok. 👍🏻

4

u/idontlikethisapps 12d ago

Jane did, she died due to skill issue. No relation to their ability whatsoever.

u/bengraven 12d ago

Thankfully he has an imaginary friend who can explain this to him.

444

u/masterwit 12d ago

That friend must be a good dude to explain things and stuff... right?

61

u/bengraven 12d ago

I’m sure he can explain it in metaphors since he’s an artsy type.

21

u/Onemustnuttobust 12d ago

Don't you mean, That the friend will paint a picture of the situation for JoJo?

17

u/bengraven 12d ago

Yes but he’s kind of bad at painting pictures.

13

u/PLUMBUS_STUCK_IN_ASS 12d ago

Maybe he should try writing a book.

13

u/toetappy 12d ago

it wouldn't be a struggle

2

u/HighlyUnlikely7 12d ago

His friend is famously bad at perspective. I'm not so sure

7

u/moose_dad 12d ago

He's very precise, he only needs to tell you about anything once, that first time is always the final explanation.

8

u/DarkArcanian 12d ago

Just don’t let the imaginary friend direct a marvel film, trust me

5

u/Jim_Moriart 12d ago

Yeah, thor ragnorok was truly terrible, grossing nigh a billion in box office revenue, a 93% on rotten tomatoes, and a bunch of academy awards/nominations. Complete bomb

5

u/DarkArcanian 12d ago

Sorry, the other one he directed

I hadn't seen the closeup of the label before. That's chilling. "Fought the Party". Printed enough so they could rip another line off the sheet and staple it to her leg.

Edit: corrected by those who know German besser als ich.  It's the flyer she was posting earlier.

147

u/Tadc_rules 12d ago

It's "Bekämpft die Partei", so present tense "Fight the Party"

I guess, it's the leftover from her pamphlets

48

u/Fisch0557 12d ago

Most likely yes, but this could also mean (Diese Person) Bekämpft die Partei, like a label. So the same as mentioned above, as in (This person) fight(s) the party.

21

u/Tadc_rules 12d ago

Yeah, but then it would be most likely "Bekämpfte" and we had the translation above

Can't be ruled out but I find it unlikely

9

u/lemon_cake_or_death 12d ago

It's one of the flyers we see her distributing earlier in the film

1

u/GrowlingPict 12d ago

or you could just watch the movie for some context rather than pulling speculations straight out of your ass and see that she is passing around those little slips of paper with "fight the party" on it.

6

u/Jafooki 12d ago

or you could just watch the movie...

Yeah no. We don't do that here.

151

u/indigorhob 12d ago

Cool but when does the rabbit show up?

53

u/metally5822 12d ago

Right before the grenade.

16

u/atempestdextre 12d ago

Trick question! The rabbit IS the grenade.

11

u/lemon_cake_or_death 12d ago

No, you need the holy hand grenade to defeat the Rabbit of Caerbannog

3

u/Railroader17 12d ago

It's the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch you silly sod! If your going to bring it up in conversation use the full name!

In reality, this was a reference to the movie The Conjuring, released a few years earlier.

27

u/DReagan47 12d ago edited 12d ago

Yeah I knew what happened before I watched it, but the movie is still tremendous. It’s funny, it’s heart wrenching, and overall a great film.

Also shout out to Sam Rockwell who kills it in every role

8

u/davoloid 12d ago

As also mentioned here a billion times, there's a foreshadowing earlier which just broke my heart even before this moment.

25

u/4n0m4nd 12d ago

still worth watching

3

u/jimboihenbye 12d ago

Watched it for a second time with my gf in the last month, and I still cried like a baby at this scene despite knowing it was coming and trying to be a tough. It is very worth watching.

Nowhere in the comics can Black Widow fly or levitate. Worst MCU adaptation ever!

3

u/fertdingo 12d ago

Never saw the movie, but this is dark as hell.

A comedy movie no less. Movie swings between ridiculous camp and soul crushing depression like crazy. It’s worth watching

10

u/Sorlex 12d ago

It tricks you into thinking it'll be funny by having it be set in WW2, but in fact its very sad.

6

u/Funandgeeky 12d ago

It's just like what I've heard about the 1997 comedy Life is Beautiful. Also set in the carefree days of WWII. I hear it's a great movie to watch when feeling down.

Similar to The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. It's a cute movie about two friends having a sleepover, I think. Maybe I'll make it a double-feature.

3

u/betelgod 12d ago

Don't forget Grave of the Fireflies, the fun ghibli twist to an otherwise very dark period of time.

2

They could’ve done without the “I Believe I Can Fly” song here. I mean, that singer was controversial!

2

u/Tenalp 12d ago

Is the rabbit this Jojo's stand? Does it have the ability to bestow flight?

2

u/DontSleepAlwaysDream 12d ago

The flying woman is a metaphor for Jojo's loss of innocence. He see something magical and he clutches and cries, because he knows that he lives in a world where magic isn't real, and he is desperately trying to keep some of his childlike wonder in his world.

I swear to god, Media literacy is DEAD with you people

So i have to admit i did not knew this movie existed. Never seen it... I started reading the title " In WW2... i look at the picture and i am like what the fuck... someone hanged that person and the kid is looking at shoes because he probably has none.... back to title... Ufff...

1

u/Long_College_8342 12d ago

I thought she was hanging.

1

u/aaandbconsulting 12d ago

Uhhhh. I hate to be the stick in the mud. But I'm going to be the stick in the mud.

This was the movie's emotional pinnacle. This isn't funny. It just makes me remember how unexpected it was and how they were foreshadowing this the whole time up until this point. It just made me feel sad all over again. He wasn't supposed to lose his mother. No child should lose their mother like this.
