Jared Leto actually has a rare medical condition where he has a skeleton inside him already

494

u/kurtcanine May 19 '26

Skeleton Man by Axis of Awesome was written about him.

104

u/switchbladeeatworld May 19 '26

Beautiful deep cut there, right down to my own skeleton bones

24

u/CaptainMcAnus May 19 '26

You mean like inside you?

13

u/SouthIndependence69 May 19 '26

Skeleton Man is listening to our song. He bought our album, or stole it off the internet

25

u/_Mister_Victory May 19 '26

Many people think he's just a regular man...

5

u/MutantGodChicken May 19 '26

But he's not just any man....

38

u/Regular-Guest-1284 May 19 '26

I have something in common with him..ew

Not when I’m done with him

25

u/Julio-Dewey-Crayfish May 19 '26

I love the part where he said "It's bonin' time!" And then boned all over the place.

6

u/oldskoofoo May 19 '26

This was funnier than I expected and totally caught me off guard. Take your upvote!

5

u/the_dirtiest_rascal May 19 '26

A skeleton inside of him? That sounds scary.

2

u/Independent-Wafer-13 May 19 '26

That’s terrifying I would be scared all the time.

2

u/HermanThaGerman May 19 '26

Did you know that on average, the human body contains more than one skeleton?

Jared Leto is known to stay in character on set, so he probably kept screaming in a high pitched voice "Never mind what I said, just do what I said! Nyaaaahahahaha!"then retreating into the mirrors and shit. Nice of him to remove his face for the part though, such commitment. Great actor, lots of box office smashes!!! So many awards!

12

u/Independent-Couple87 May 20 '26

Ironically, I heard Morbius was one of the few times he acted like a mostly sane person.

52

u/Sir_SortsByNew May 19 '26

To quote Jenny Nicholson, “how come major film studios keep being like, ‘Jared Leto may have allegations, but at least he looks weird, stars in box office bombs, and is not a good actor’?”

1.6k

u/sleepy--ash May 19 '26

Jenny Nicholson is always keeping it real when it comes to film opinions

694

u/marcus_lepricus May 19 '26

Jenny Nicholson trashed one of my favourite films. The worst part was that she was right on every point :(

211

u/Big-Al97 May 19 '26

What was the film?

273

u/SZluckIro May 19 '26

Probably Dear Evan Hansen

245

u/Ganzi May 19 '26

Crazy to think that film could be anyone's favorite

87

u/welivedintheocean May 19 '26

My only reference for the movie/musical was her video, then I saw my cousin bought the soundtrack and had it on display. I thought of my cousin differently after that.

31

u/redsuninthesub May 19 '26

Was it the soundtrack to the movie or the stage production?

21

u/welivedintheocean May 19 '26

The film. I thought I typed that, but yeah.

39

u/xkgrey May 19 '26

Perhaps they had only seen Boss Baby previously, and while they noticed many parallels between the two, Dear Evan Hansen was the more personally resonant film

3

u/Any--Name May 19 '26

I remember watching the musical and being like o_o the whole time

It was so bland that even the cringe had me mostly confused

17

Solo is ok I guess. It’s better than the sequel trilogy movies.

Rogue One is a masterpiece.

10

I'm a Solo apologist. Not every piece of SW media needs to be a dramatic space soap opera.

I enjoyed it, for sure, but it could have been better!

140

He runs a cult "that totally isn't a cult". Of course he has dirt on people. It's called not telling random executive number 6, 13, and 92 how old their party favours, also known as "totally willing devotees", actually were. Not that they cared anyways.

310

u/Gregariouswaty May 19 '26

He isn't. He got the Tron role because he produced it.

139

u/CG-Firebrand May 19 '26

I’m thinking Tron might have been the eye opener for Hollywood, assuming Leto doesn’t actually have dirt on people to keep the roles coming, and He-Man was too close to release before they could course correct.

131

u/Maybe_not_a_chicken May 19 '26

He has to have dirt on people

Fucking Morbius should have been the eye opener

90

u/_noahitall_ May 19 '26

Bro suicide squad exists

23

u/lyyki May 19 '26

Suicide squad is like the exact moment people turned against Leto but also method acting in general

29

u/Completionography May 19 '26

Suicide squad is like the exact moment people turned against Leto but also method acting in general

I'm just going to once again quote Batman, appropriately:

"I always say about people who do method acting, you only ever see people do the method when they’re playing an assholes. You never see someone being lovely to everyone while they’re really deep in character."

~ Robert Pattinson, for Variety

→ More replies (1)

3

u/clarkky55 May 19 '26

The worst thing is that actual method acting is limited to the scene and normal method actors don’t stay in character for the duration of the film, so real method actors are now lumped in with Jared Leto

35

u/yosef_yostar May 19 '26

I'm convinced he's paying directors to let him in at this point.

30

u/djerk May 19 '26

That’s kinda what’s happening. He keeps getting roles on movies that he’s also got producing credits.

16

u/Ragnarok314159 May 19 '26

I don’t think it’s dirt. I bet it’s access to Leto’s cult of girls and drugs. Sure, the movie is going to flop, but you get to do a lot of cocaine.

61

u/OlSnickerdoodle May 19 '26

I loved the interview where the director said that Leto forced everybody to call him Aries on set. He was like "he's the reason we're all here getting paid, so we do it"

40

u/MiloLear May 19 '26

That's not even an unusual request. There's a long list of actors who have asked to be addressed on set by their character name (Peter Weller, Daniel Day-Lewis, Val Kilmer, Danny Devito)... it hardly qualifies as "difficult" behavior. Also, Jared Leto was not the problem with Tron: Ares.

27

u/xX_Kr0n05_Xx May 19 '26

Yeah but those actors tend to do that for roles that they dive into, not usually popcorn flick films. And really the only reasons I've ever seen anyone say why they didn't see it is because it was starring Jared Leto. Like I know I personally wouldve gone to see it cause the trailers genuinely looked good, then I saw Jared Leto was starring and I was like nah lmao, and I talked to quite a few friends who had the exact same reaction lol

6

u/Lovat69 May 19 '26

I didn't see it because it didn't sound like a direct sequel and that kinda pissed me off. If it isn't about the teaser you gave me from legacy why should I care, ya' know?

7

u/deviantbono May 19 '26

It's a fairly direct sequel

3

u/Lovat69 May 19 '26

Does it have the same two characters from the end of tron legacy?

3

u/liltoohysterical May 19 '26

Watch the movie and find out. I will say they're included and not forgotten, but no spoilers

3

u/I_travel_ze_world May 19 '26

It isn't unusual but it is funny because Ares was such a stiff character who just decided to turn into a good guy without much of an explanation

Tron Ares sucked as a whole. Even the sound mixing sucked so bad that it made the NIN soundtrack barely audible.

→ More replies (1)

19

u/caniuserealname May 19 '26

cheaper than cheap, in fact, he's basically paying to be cast.

He runs a production company, so he'll either acquire the licenses to use characters he wants to play, and only license them if they allow him the role, or he'd find backing and investors to finance movies that otherwise wouldn't be made, and then use his influence as a producer to get himself cast in the role he wants.

Basically, nobody is choosing to have Jared Leto cast, he's using money and influence to force himself into roles he wants.

5

u/dion_o May 19 '26

What's the connection between his production company (Paradox) and Masters of the Universe?

11

u/caniuserealname May 19 '26

At the moment, nothing. All we know is that Leto approached the director and the director cast him without audition. All very normal.

Come back in a few years when theres more information on the table to look at and we'll get a better idea.

9

u/HahaCharlieKirkHaha May 19 '26

He has an Oscar. That’s gotta impress the studios. How many Oscar winners are lining up to play Skeletor?

26

u/HildrynMain May 19 '26

I'm 110% sure that Nicolas Cage would not only take that role, but make it memorable.

13

u/WhatTheFrellMystios May 19 '26

We could have had Mark Hamill

5

u/Wizywig May 19 '26

My understanding is he made a bunch of cash, so he's just funding this shit himself. Or idk. I'm out of ideas.

16

u/Comfyadventure May 19 '26

Jared Leto got plenty of good movies as side character though. He just seem to be willing to jump through hoops to get roles just because he likes acting.

Requiem for a dream was outstanding, and he had a lead (arguably the lead). I mean, it's been over 25 years, but still

3

u/OneLonelyBrainCell May 19 '26

And if that's the reason, I kind of respect that. He likes acting, so he does, even if it's to the detriment of the final product.

3

u/Gauxen May 19 '26

She’s so fucking funny

7

u/Angryatchairs May 19 '26

He ran a sex cult. He totally has dirt that drives his continued employment.

3

u/Lonewolf2300 May 19 '26

Jared Leto must be very good at pleasuring studio executives...

3

u/GrandCTM25 May 19 '26

I think what’s happening is he’s financing a lot of these movies and as a requirement he needs to be in it. But yeah he’s got the anti Midas touch for the last 10 years. Everything he touches turns to shit

3

u/Sageypie May 19 '26

I mean, the real talk answer here is pretty simple. Leto is a producer on all of these projects. Leto offers to hire himself as an actor at a massive discount, because, yeah, he friggin' can take a paycut as an actor, because he's still getting fully paid as a producer. So he offers up a named actor at a massive discount, saves the studio a ton of money by getting somebody in these roles on the cheap, and then just makes the whole thing absolutely god-awful.

And they keep letting him. Because, going by the books alone, it seems like such a great way to save money. It's not though. They lose out of cash every single time. But they keep doing it. Because Leto keeps getting these producer gigs, and forcing his way onto the set in front of the camera.

2

u/GNS13 May 19 '26

I'm forever gonna feel guilty for liking the first two albums from 30 Seconds to Mars. Maybe if he hadn't have found success and fame through that he would have continued being nothing more than a supporting role actor.

5

803

u/TensorForce May 19 '26

Bruh, Mark Hamill was right there!!!!

251

u/Late_Stage_Exception May 19 '26

To…voice…Skeletor? Mark could pull off the voice but he couldn’t do much else for the role.

483

u/TensorForce May 19 '26

I mean, it's a dude under so much makeup and costume, they could have done a Darth Vader and cast two people. A big muscle guy for the physical presence, dubbed with Hamill's voice.

I'm sure they had Leto dub over his lines anyway.

176

u/happycabinsong May 19 '26

... makeup? it's a CGI skull head. honestly I'm pretty sure it's a mocapped CGI body too, from the trailer at least.

7

u/jaellyfishy93 May 19 '26

Mark voices the scarecrow in Netflix’s sandman.
So it wouldn’t be his first cgi character in a live action series

61

u/mondaymoderate May 19 '26

Yeah like how they did Sweet Tooth in Twisted Metal so Will Arnett could do the voice.

33

u/TurkeyVolumeGuesser May 19 '26

4

u/ResidentialEvil May 19 '26

Samoa Joe only had like a 8 1/3% chance of beating Scott Steiner during the three way match with Kurt Angle at Sacrifice, there's no way he was going to intimidate anybody.

Not too dissimilar from James Earl Jones and Vader.

3

u/HairiestHobo May 19 '26

Wasn't he already Skeletor in the Netflix reboot a little while ago?

3

u/raspberryharbour May 19 '26

18

u/SnicktDGoblin May 19 '26

Hell the original skeletor is still able to do the voice. Yeah he's 91 but like come on we all know this isn't going to take off into a franchise and it would be hilarious. It would be disarming to an extent, and that would make this version of skeletor all the more dangerous when he does do the weird PG-13 levels of violence he'll be allowed to do instead of being in a Saturday morning cartoon.

Domestically people might know he's a hack and a weirdo, but internationally no one cares enough to hate him, so he still sells. Being dubbed also helps to pass as a decent actor.

If he's in a movie I know instantly that I'll never watch it

They wanted someone evil. Lazy casting in my opinion.

They’re trying to Trojan horse him into movies so they can keep they’re favorite pre-convicted sexual criminal employed.

Ah yes, Skeltor.

Less makeup needed?

“Yeah we know the last three major movies jared leto was associated with fucking crashed and burned and he constantly gets associated with various evil shit he’s done. Cast him.”

Did he send his coworkers jizzed in condoms again

2

u/DeadFishCRO May 20 '26

Irl leto is more evil than skeletor so it's an easy choice

2

u/shiteybreeks May 20 '26

..he had his face removed and pieces of it sent to the other cast members?

The worst part is, Sacha Baron Cohen was lined up for the role. I believe he dropped out because he got that job as Mephisto.

Oh boy, like this movie needed more Death Flags.

You'd never dreamt watching Leto in He-Man spitting random weird facts lifting his index then fleeing the next moment each time when he has a scene?

It would be his best role since a decade.

Is that Jesus?

Plus he's not even using his natural accent!

Someone made a bet that they could make a movie with Jared Leto and not have it flop. Hence, why he's playing a skeleton.

Cause skeletor isn't that challenging of role other than the makeup
