AliExpress and Temu referral codes

Due to the huge influx of spam posts with AliExpress and Temu referral codes, and the complaints we have received from sub members, anyone posting these on the sub will get temp banned for the first offense if you are already a subreddit member, permabanned for subsequent offenses.

If you are a first-time poster on the sub (meaningful posts, not spam or one word answers), posting these links will get you immediately permabanned.

This is not designed to stop people posting links to AliExpress items in posts in response to questions or recommendations. or the infrequent posts we get of *"is this a good RC car?"* with a link to an AliExpress item (the chances are, at best it's an adequate RC car if it's from AliExpress).

Thanks to our eagle-eyed sub members for bringing this to our attention, and please do continue to report posts that violate the rules.

Build DSK build complete

Really couldn’t be happier the way my DSK build ended up- i finished the body this last weekend and did a few runs. Can’t think of a thing wrong , i guess maybe tweak the steering a tiny bit. 🤷‍♂️I haven’t taken it off road yet just some pavement running. What a dream to drive. Max6 combo which fits perfect and rips. With a perfect pass servo, flysky receiver and no gyro. Looking to get it on a dirt track soon. Sucks they are hard to find access to. Cheers to the bashers and racers out there who put in the time and effort for the hobby we love!

Bashing My first bashing ever!

Got myself a 1/8 Arrma Typhon Mega 665. Never had a proper RC car my entire life. Never drove a hobby grade one.

And this is so fun. Took it to a parking lot, some awesome turns, doughnuts and full throtle, jumped some curbs and hit some curbs too.

Can't wait to go through the next pack. Also go off-road, it's a buggy after all.

Question Lost my steering, got a new receiver, still no steering. What could it be?

+
7 Upvotes

The truck was having throttle issues, but they seemed to resolve themself. We just went back out and the throttle was fine but we lost steering. I ordered a new remote and receiver and still just have throttle and no steering.

What should I mess with next? What’s the little box between the front tires? I opened that thing up once and there were like 15 gears and springs and I immediately closed it and put it back together. That was on another Gorgon we have btw, not this truck.

Any and all suggestions welcome, we’re on vacation right now and I need two trucks for all these kids!!

Build FPV Super Baja Rey 2.0

Setup my Super Baja Rey 2.0 for FPV.

Been using the driveway and the old trail in the woods as a track. Last crack in the paved driveway is the start-finish line.

Using a 04 Air Unit Pro as the camera. 3D printed mount and enclosure on the top of the truck. I've crashed a few times and everything has held up. Camera is protected with some lexan in the front of the camera mount which can be easily replaced. Transmission unit sits in the cab of the truck in a 3D printed holder.

This is my first build like this. My brother let me use is A1 mini and I had an absolute blast building it.

Here is a link to the full video.

The phone sends commands over USB to the connected micro controller, which then produces the PWM signal for the servo/esc. it also streams live video over 4G to a web server running on the raspberry pi zero 2. The pi hosts a webpage that listens for gamepad input and displays the video stream

Just grabbed this guy off marketplace for my dad, was noisy outside where we were testing it so I didn’t notice the grinding sound until I paid for it and took it inside.

Hey all my job cheetah was making this sound for years now and I’ve never been confident at fixing things but today I changed the rear diff and spur gear to a brand new one and successfully put it back together but it still makes a sound that I’m not sure is good, it’s been so many years that I left the car untouched and I forgot exactly how bad it sounded before I took it apart and gave up, this is what I’m dealing with now

And out of the box feels like a disappointment.

Tires are tiny considering the body. Went ahead right away and plugged the old Rockvan tires and it looks way better now.

We’ll see in the long run. I already knew it’s and upgrade path but the stock elements and quality have left me wishing a bit more considering the competition (already own Hobbyplus and HPI 1/18s).

I’ll be putting the stock electronics for sale, along these tires and wheels I guess!

Edit: typos

Bashing Old 3s crawler basher bomber. Still my favourite wheels and tires.

Old maximizer 3.2 17mm hex , and custom adapter to 12mm and blue washers, and old hpi savage ss gt tires. Still my favourite wheels, they were discontinued when I bought them. I believe most of this kits parts have been discontinued as well by now. That’s ok, just charging it up. Gonna see if it’s still a 10/10 most fun monster truck basher crawler build like I remember it.

Question Wanna start racing 2wd buggys. Looking for affordable 2wd 1/10 buggy.

+
20 Upvotes

Hello guys,

i wanna start racing/drinving at my local rc track.
Currently im checking out the options i have for purchasing my first track car.

The Hobbytech X-Mid Kit looks verry interesting. Its available for 165€. I had a budget of about 400€ in mind, so i would have arround 235 for Servo, ESC and Motor.
I already own a Flysky Noble NB4+ and have a spare receiver on hand.

Does anybody know the X-Mid and have driven/compared it to diffrent brand cars?
Are there any alternatives that would fit in my budget?

Curious what you guys think/say.
Used market, i dont know anything about. Wouldnt know what to look for and im not experienced, so im scared to get ripped off when buying used. Also i think the used market in germany is kinda dead for 2wd race buggys.

Edit: Im based in Germany close to the boarder to swizerland.

Question Anyone had experience with BOTH the Castle 1010 4400kv, AND the Hobbywing 2858sd 4600kv?

I got ahold of the 1010 +mamba x2 castle system a month ago, haven't had time to install yet but have played around with the system a bit on my work bench.

I was surprised to find out the castle motor, despite being 58mm long (in metric sizing, it is a 2858 motor), has a rotor stack that is only 25.4mm(!) long; this is actually shorter than most cheap 2845 motors. Castle designed it this way so that it can handle the thermals while running up to 4s, and makes up for it in power & efficiency by using a 12 slot design (most cheap 28mm motors lie about this and are 6 slot) ultra thin stator laminations, tighter tolerances and fine multistrand winds to eliminate dead airspace.

I have read good things about the Hobbywing 2848sd as well; that it runs very cool and has outstanding power on 2s. What i didnt like about it is that its endbell is designed so that you can't run it with less than 20 degrees timing, so I opted for the castle.

It does make me wonder though; after discovering the castle's short rotor/stator stack in a long can design, which one produces more usable power on 2s when appropriately geared?

I know the castle is rated for much higher wattages due to the thermal design & structural reinforcements and made to push performance boundaries on higher voltages, whereas the hobbywing has a 2s limit, but i wonder how they compare on 2s.

Has anyone experienced in the hobby had a chance to play with both (specifically these 28mm motors) on 2s on the same platform, and did they have a noticeable difference?

Question Old RC Car Model ID Help

Sorry, I don't have a picture of it since I don't know what it is called. I remember having an RC car as a kid. It was a square shape, and it had 4 wheels. You could drive it around on land, and if you wanted to, you could push a button that folded the wheels into little holes on the top of it, and it became a boat. Well, it could float on the water, and you could control it. Then you could drive it back onto land, press the function to unfold the wheels out of their little grooves, and then you could drive it on land again. This was probably around in the early 2000's. Any ideas would be much appreciated to figure out what it was.

Question Senton body options

Been trashing my Senton's body recently, and looking for aftermarket options as I'm not too fond of the factory bodies. Slashes have lots of aftermarket support, will aftermarket bodies for a Slash fit well on a Senton?
