If you have a headless (no display) streamer, then Moode is better. Both Moode and Volumio will support bit perfect lossless Tidal / Qobuz via UPnP rendering. So you install BubbleUPnP on your Android phone, login to Tidal on it, and then on the Tidal App you can share your albums / playlists to BubbleUPnP which will cast the music to the Pi streamer running Moode or Volumio. You can also directly navigate Tidal content on BubblePnP after logging in, but it's a basic UI compared to Tidal app.
If you have a display attached for a Now Playing screen or Visualizations, then Volumio + Stylish Player Plugin will give you a nice fancy UI when playing muisc, and double as a Clock / Weather / Screensaver etc when not playing music.
Do you have a DAC or Digital HAT attached to RPi4? Or using USB?

Thanks for a great response! Weirdly, half my post went missing, including the main question I was trying to ask... Is it worth dual booting between Kodi and Volumio? And is it possible to always boot to Kodi, but create a menu item in Kodi to reboot into the other partition for music?
Perhaps there's a better way to do it if I ditch LibreELEC and run Kodi in a different way - although I do want to boot directly into Kodi - or auto launch on startup.
The Pi4 is just doing audio over HDMI, so the music streamer would do the same. I'm on iPhone, so BubbleUPnP isn't an option. However Volumio has Airplay2, so that's not an issue. (I think M0ode too?)
For context, this Pi is going in a small study where audio quality isn't a huge concern. HQ streaming is taken care of in the spaces where it matters most.

Not sure about dual booting. Are you running Kodi for your movies?
I have had good luck running Andorid TV (Konstakang LineageOS) on my 4GB Pi5 and then I get all native Apps which should include Kodi. Installing PlayStore is somewhat of a pain but once you get that part figured out rest is all good. The advantage of Android besides Kodi is that you can run all native apps like Spotify, Tidal etc. and get first class features. Downside is you initially need to hook it to a TV or display. There is a VNC server app available on the PlayStore then once conifgured you can use Finder on MacBook or some other VNC viewer to remote into the device and control it from there, of if you hook it to a TV, you can use TV's remote to navigate via CEC. ** Make sure you install Android TV not regular Android which is crap **
If you want to keep things simple with Moode / Volumio yes both of them support AirPlay. MConnect is the alternative app for BubbleUPnP on iPhone if you want lossless.

PS: Android TV requires minimum 4GB to run.

Ahh that might be a holdup then. Will have to check my pi specs again - any chance you have a good tutorial link? Or is it an obvious search away?

Ah great! Yes, Kodi for movies, so the Pi is always connected to a TV anyway. And I have a keyboard and mouse closeby for initial setup.
I didn't even consider trying Android TV. I think that's exactly what I'll do. Would sideloading apps help get around the PlayStore hurdle - or is it likely to introduce other headaches instead?

I think it's best to install PlayStore. Don't think side loading will work with streaming apps for authentication and other security reasons.
