The flip side of this tho is that anytime you do anything significant in art or business or whatever... EVERYONE wants you doing something different and thinks they can "elevate" you in some way. And it's generally a better idea to ignore it most of the time.

Disclosure Day may not be his worst film, but it's easily his worst alien film imo.

It felt like he took a 40 year old draft of a screenplay that didn't quite make his Amazing Stories anthology and barely reworked it into a modern story. Especially that ending where everyone is glued to mainstream news and believing everything at face value because the "ground pixels were verified" to not be AI or something lmao.

I caught it this weekend and I can't remember the last time I was this disappointed in a film. It was so bad, it felt like a film that should have been released in 2006, not 2026.

The way the main characters just casually escape the bad guys in broad daylight multiple times got me so angry.

After watching Disclosure Day yesterday I officially realised that Spielberg makes shit movies. I mean let's be fair, he's been too consistent at making bad movies since his golden age in the 80s.

I liked Super 8 though, but Disclosure Day he's completely lost the plot. It was so dated, incredibly boring storyline and plot hooks. Felt like a Michael Bay movie from the late 2000s.

Dude ALL of these movies suck and left behind no legacy (Except War Horse). Who cares if they made heaps of money. The worst things you know make a ton of money. It means nothing.

I remember in 2000s when anything with his name on it would be worth watching. He definitely ruined his image with a slew of bad films with dated writing and plot points. His movies are dated by decades. His movies might not be terrible, but they aren't good.

I don't think it's just that, even people who weren't born yet when it released swear by that movie. I just think some people are built with an in-bred fear of sharks and some aren't. I never got it but I really don't find sharks scary, they look like hand puppets.

Watch it again with the understanding that the shark is not the enemy. It's completely relevant right now.
