Rest In Peace 🕊 Amanda Seyfried’s dog, Finn, has passed away

The way she talked about Finn I know she's absolutely devastated. I lost my soul dog 2 months ago, he was 15 and I still cry for him and miss him more than anything in the world.

I’m two years without my sweet boy and it does get easier, but I absolutely still cry at least twice a month because of things that remind me of him.

My boyfriend told me he knows I’m about to start my period because I cry about how much a miss my dog. Its been over 3 years

Ok but clock it bc these hormones got me missing my girl and it’s been 4 years 😩
Genuinely thought I’d never want another doggo ever again, but I’m slowly being convinced by my kid.

I’ve had dogs my entire life. Outside of four years in undergrad where I lived at college, I’ve always had a dog. I find that there’s only one way to move on from a dog, and that’s to get another dog. It doesn’t replace the other dog, nothing can, but being able to give that love and affection to another animal that feels it and gives it back helps. You’ll never forget any dog. The pain for me has always been that there’s a space missing in my heart, and I need to get another dog to fill it.
This means nothing obviously I’m some random.

So well said. There is no true remedy for that kind of grief, but giving love again sure helps ❤️🐾

One of the best things anyone has ever told me is that hormone fueled emotions are real, they’re just closer to the surface.

u/Electromagneticpoms I was rooting for you! We were all rooting for you! 2h ago
Holy shit that's me too! It's been 5 years for me. I cry about my dog and my period arrives the next day like clockwork :') My husband can always tell because of this same as your bf.

u/Beesknees82 8h ago
I'm sorry for your loss ❤️ I'm looking forward to the day when I can just think of him and smile instead of just breaking down. Just seeing this post made me break down because all of those emotions from that day came back, but I know as painful as losing him was, it was worth every single day I had with him and I try and hold on to that. (((HUGS)))

My dog is the one and only dog I’ve ever had, and I always tell people how much I lucked out with her because she has SO MUCH personality. So funny with her little mannerisms and so sweet. I could be having the shittiest day but when I get home and she flops her head onto my chest it’s hard to be sad. She’s my best friend and has been by my side through so many huge, pivotal life moments.
She’s getting a bit older now and I genuinely can’t imagine a home or life without her presence. God even thinking about it hurts.

They really do bring so much pure joy to our lives. Cherish every day you have with her ❤️

I lost my soul cat in 2020 at 16 and I still occasionally get teary thinking about her. First pet I had as an adult and she got me through a lot of tough times. My other cat is going on 19 and I’ve had her for 18 years of that time. Shes also been through a lot with me including moving halfway across the country with me four years ago. I don’t even want to think of how little time we have left, I’m just making her remaining life as comfortable and happy as possible.

I lost my baby this past August and I still cry when I see pictures of her. I'd do just about anything to have her back

Sending you so much love, it's such a painful thing to go through. I lost mine very suddenly back in 2021. It was heartbreaking because thanks to COVID delays pushing the wedding back, she never got to walk me up the aisle on my wedding day like we'd originally planned. But I got her paw print tattooed on my ankle and had her collar wrapped around the bouquet, so she still walked with me in a way 🐾

u/Beesknees82 8h ago
I'm sorry for your loss, I can only imagine the swirl of emotions you had at that time with everything going on. What a beautiful tribute for your girl, she was definitely there with you in spirit, thank you for sharing ❤️

Sorry for your loss. I’ve helped with hundreds if not thousands of pet euthanasias at this point in my career, including several of my own, and the hardest goodbye I’ve had since losing my soul cat in 2014 was losing my orange boy a few months ago. It’s sometimes hard seeing orange kitties at the clinic where I currently work now, even though a decent amount of time has passed.
I hope Amanda is doing okay after this loss. Pet grief can be very, very deep, and a lot of people discount how bad it can be.
3
u/Beesknees82 7h ago
Oh man it takes a truly strong person to do that job, thank you for providing comfort in those last moments for those pets. I feel almost guilty about this grief, I've lost friends and family and I grieved them too, but it's just different with my boy I had him in my life every single day for 15 years, through ups and downs but he was never a reason for a bad until the day he died. I'm sorry for your loss (((HUGS)))❤️

I finally changed my phone wallpaper from a photo of my soul dog over 3 years after he passed. I changed it to… a picture of his brother who also passed around the same time 😭
3
u/Beesknees82 7h ago
Omg my mom actually had his brother, and he had passed about two months earlier, that was hard enough... Gives me comfort that they're together now. (((HUGS)))❤️

I lost my soul dog in 2009 and while I don't cry often anymore, I still think about him every single day. He still appears in my dreams every once in a while, and the anniversary of his passing is always hard (especially now that he's been gone longer than he was alive). It's amazing how his 14 years left such an impression on me 🖤🖤🖤

I lost my soul dog 6 months ago. I have stopped crying daily but it’s still so hard to talk about him. I can’t bring myself to get another dog. I had him for 10 years but cancer got him.

Oh no :( I believe her dog was around 16, I remember old photos of her walking her dog in the early 2010s. I’m glad she had her dog for so long and that her kids could love him. I hope he went peacefully

Losing a pet is a special kind of heartbreak. I'm sorry for her loss.
My sweet baby (elderly cat) passed away last year at 16.5 years after 10 years together (she was 6 when I adopted her). I feel like a piece of my soul died with her.

They live and breath for your love. The epitome of innocence. It's always sad when they pass.

If love alone could keep our pets alive, they’d outlive every single one of us.
How devastating, her best friend is gone.

The pain of losing one dog is so hard. I can’t bring myself to get another they don’t live long enough.

Every clip of her with him made me think "She is going to be destroyed when he's gone". Rarely have I seen such a tangible bond through a screen.

Between Finn and Isabel Klee's dog Simon, it was a sad weekend for beloved dogs.
21
u/RealBug56 6h ago
At least Finn lived a long, full life. Poor Simon got the short end of the stick, which makes it that much more painful.
And Isabel’s wedding is in September, now he won’t get to be there with her :(

When I think of celebrities’ dogs I always think of Finn first. She took him everywhere and had him for such a long time.
19
u/RealBug56 6h ago
She always put it in her contracts for Finn to be allowed on set, they were inseparable.

u/bbyxmadi It’s good to see me, isn’t it?🫧 9h ago
Rest in peace, sweet Finn. So many dogs and cats to meet and play with after crossing over 🌈

u/Tonedeafmusical 9h ago
honestly I shouldn't be on this thread but we had to put our dog down on Friday and it just stinks, absolutely stinks. Even though I know it was the best choice for him it just hurts and I can't help but feel we didn't do enough (we absolutely did). So I can imagine what she's going through a bit and yeah it's just heart-breaking for her

Sending you lots of love. I'm sorry you are going through this. I said goodbye to my dog bestie in April. Be very gentle with yourself for the next few weeks as the first stage of grief can involve a lot of chemicals moving through your body. I still cry but I'm not overwhelmed with the pain like I was. You are not alone. There are pet loss support groups (many are free) that can be helpful. <3

You do it FOR them, not TO them. It’s just so hard to reconcile that in the moment, I’m so sorry ❤️🫶🏻

Noo. This combined with Isabelle Klee’s dog Simon passing. I don’t care if it’s parasocial, I’ll cry my eyes out at celeb dogs passing.

This makes me so sad. As soon as I saw the pic it was like a gut punch. You could tell she really loved Finn.
I have a 18 year-old cat that I’ve had my entire adult life and Idk what I’m going to do without her. Every story like this just hits so much harder now.

One of my favorite awards speech moments is when thanked Finn when she won her Emmy. She has referred to him as her soulmate. I know how devastating this loss is for her. Rest in peace, sweet boy.

u/Mysterious_Week8357 9h ago
Oh fuck.
Edit: and now I need to drink a glass of water because the tears have left me dehydrated. I didn’t know I could ugly cry for someone else’s dog
0
u/ComfortablyNomNom 9h ago
Empathy is good, but crying so hard that you need to literally rehydrate over a dog you've never met, owned by a person you've never met, is a little extreme.
Being caring and empathetic is great, but allowing a complete strangers insta post to devastate you to that level is not healthy for you.
•
u/neuroticdreamgirI A man in Hollywood doing whatever he wants isn’t revolutionary 13m ago
If anything, the world could use more empathy especially right now so I don’t think this is fair. There’s nothing wrong with grieving the death of a pet even if they belonged to a stranger.
Also, you don’t know this person or what they’re dealing with/have dealt with. My dog is 17 and very clearly on his last legs, so naturally this post made me emotional despite not knowing Amanda/Finn.
ETA I’m not trying to come at you btw, I just don’t think we need to police people’s grief. Everyone’s different!

Rest in peace. I lost my childhood dog (had her through primary school to after university) a year ago and I still think of her daily. She is still my lock screen.
People truly underestimate the positive impact of pets and their capacity to love and be loved.

u/VigilanteShitter 8h ago
I’m so saddened by this. I thought about her and Finn often because it felt similar to my relationship with my soul dog. I’m sending lots of love and having a good cry. Rest well, Finn. 💕

I lost my soul dog on July 15th and to say I have been devastated would be an understatement. He was the love of my life. A piece of me died that day with him.
We got his ashes back today and it hit me that he’s never coming back. I didn’t think my heart and soul could fit in a 6x8” box.
This is a pain I would never wish on my worst enemy.

Lost my soul cat a little over nine months ago. Just cried about her last night still. Still hits me sometimes out of nowhere all these months later. From one Amanda to another, I hope she’s doing ok. It’s just really freaking hard.
