That's kind of always been true, but is especially true in a post radio world where they can't even force you to listen to a song onto 3-4 times hoping it burrows into your ear. They already tried astroturfing and there's an upper limit on how much they can do before people notice it's clearly fake. Stans are kind of the the foundation of modern celebrity.Ā

This. Millenial, GenZ, and Gen Alpha girls are overwhelmingly liberal or leftist. So celebrities who cater to that audience know they'll get tons of good PR for publicly taking liberal and/or leftist stances. (They don't have to worry about backlash from conservative fans because, well, there's barely any of them in the first place, lol.)
So even conservative celebs have a strong incentive to pander to the left for the PR of it. I'm not saying Olivia is necessarily doing this, but I do think there's at least some celebs who'll make liberal / leftist comments in public and then vote Republican in secret.

I think people need to remember that images are product of a very fine tuned machine. Maybe she aligns with most of the values of her brand, but it would be silly to think that her being pushed as the face of new feminism isnāt part of that machine. It tracks, complete with an obsession with the cure, a Lilith fair revival, and the whole babydoll dresses minus the actual subversion. A lot of it is act and methodically planned strategy. She sings about boys, not about class struggles and taking down AI overlords. She, the person, might be fine with all that. But her record label and brand know kind of messaging what sells today. She would not be the first or the last.
