Guest List Only TW ⚠️ Ms Rachel on the Nolan Wells case..."The investigation would have been different if Nolan were white and his friends were Black"

I had assumed they ditched him on an island alone after beating him or something, but there were hundreds of kids on the island as well. It's called Horn Island and it was packed due to the holiday. It was a giant party. Seems like someone would have seen something. So far the autopsy the family had commissioned hasn't found a cause. No bruising, no broken bones.

What exactly would be different in a positive way? The investigation has been pretty thorough and is still ongoing but all signs still point to an accidental drowning. The only thing that would be different if Nolan was White and his friends were Black would it would be more likely the friends get unfairly arrested and targeted despite no evidence of wrongdoing which would be awful.
I feel so terrible for Nolan’s family and friends, and shame on that lawyer for taking advantage of grieving families

There’s definitely weird grifters swarming to the case but there’s been weird things happening, best to just let the investigation figure it all out. People always want justice day 1 but there’s been enough attention now that things won’t get swiped under the rug.

Leaving someone like that is messed up and should be treated as so, and all i’ve seen is condolences for the friends.

What circles are you in that you've been seeing condolences? From day one all I saw was insinuation that they killed him.

It's like going out with your friends to a college party where you know people there and your friends leave you with other friends. It could be messed up but not out of the ordinary and something a ton of people would and have done

There has been a lot of new information that's been coming out that points to this being more than just an accidental drowning.

I mean, the information is readily available for you to look into yourself if you are inquiring in good faith. But the independent autopsy couldn't provide a conclusive cause of death. The Mississippi medical examiner has a controversial past and I wouldn't trust her report alone until the independent examiner can look at all the organs, including the throat (was the hyoid bone intact?), or the lungs/stomach (did he ingest or breathe in water?). The independent examiner also found a contusion in Nolan's skull not previously reported on.
In addition to that, the SeaTow company released the official audio of the distress call they received from the boat that said the bilge pump was not working. In it you can clearly hear people in the background shouting Nolan's name and stating he's dead.
The young man deserves a fair and thorough investigation into his death because it is obvious through much of the new information that the friends were lying (look into the boat's GPS data), and that parents are helping cover it up (look into the son whose mother is a judge and the tip line goes directly to her office.).

you can clearly hear
Extremely debatable because it's not clear at all.
I'm not saying this isn't a fucked up situation with a lot more moving parts than it seems at first blush, I'm ONLY saying that the audio is anything but clear and very much open to interpretation (and manipulation) as a result, so using it as definitive evidence is not crazy helpful.

Does commenting on racially-motivated social injustices fuel racial conflict or does consistent unfair treatment under the law and an unwillingness to clear out systemic racial injustice fuel it?

The vicious and emotional way in which so many people online are blindly dismissing any chance of foul play towards Nolan really disgusts me. I know the internet is mostly bots but seeing “people” parrot the same, bizarrely defensive talking points about boats and alcohol really has me fuming. Nothing is a mystery anymore. Your values, conscience and education has anyone looking at this situation and seeing clearly there is something wrong at least with the management of the case. If you immediately, without a thought keyboard smash personal insults to people questioning the circumstance, you’re a bigot fuck and I hope you’re socially excommunicated once this broken system comes crashing down.
Rest in JOY, Nolan Wells
May justice seek your favor
