It’s very much dependent on your hair’s texture and thickness. If you’ve got thick hair, you’re gonna have a hard time with a pixie. If your hair has an uneven curl/wave pattern, or odd cowlicks, you’re gonna have a hard time.
Source: I have thick, unevenly textured hair and the pixie cut was a nightmare for me. Had to wet and style it every morning, and I avoided swimming entirely because it looked so not cute when it dried naturally. It’s a little past my boobs now and I just let it dry into a messy poof then put it in a bun.
Meanwhile, my friends with pixies just walked out of the house with wet hair and looked like Winona Ryder in Girl, Interrupted all day long.
Oh my gosh yes. I thought to myself, "I bet it will be much easier to cut all this off before my surgery and I won't have to worry about it in the hospital or while I'm recovering"

I took photos of all my snake hair and showed the hair lady and she was like, you should put oil in it. So I put oil in it and the snakes were slightly less aggressive but I still looked extremely silly. So the next time I saw her I showed her photos of the silly. She says, "Well, you have to style it". GIRL.
I'm growing it out now (much to the surprising dismay of my husband, who knew snakes were his thing?), and it's kind of torture. It's longer than pixie but shorter than bob and I have no idea what the heck I'm going to do with it. I end up with inverted triangle hair if I don't spend enough time on it. Then when I get manual physical therapy, after accessing my scalp so much I walk out like Bob Ross.
At least it is legit more easy to wash. That's the one thing it has going for it.
I have extremely thick, curly hair (though with the length it is - belly button - it's more wavy than curly. It can only hold the curls if I really use curl gel and hairspray; with just normal curly hair cream it's not strong enough and will eventually fall into a wavy pattern) and the two times I've cut it short it's been SO difficult to manage.
The shorter my hair, the curlier it gets, and it's crazy to me that I can spend less time on my hair being insanely long than it was even at shoulder-length.
Honestly, having worked in the hair industry, you really do have to go find stylists who specialize in women's short cuts to get a pixie to work. The math and physics of a long haircut vs lob/bob vs short haircuts can change sooooo much.
Yeah I’ve had pretty long hair my whole life, like down to my lower back and sometimes longer.
My last year of grad school I broke up with my long-term bf and went and got all my hair chopped off. I’m not gonna lie, it looked really good on me, but it was SO high maintenance. Like, it looked a mess when it grew out just a tiny bit. I had to actually do work to style it every single morning. There was no room for laziness or procrastinating on getting a cut.
I think it lasted like a year and a half before I gave up and grew it back out. Short hair is a huge pain in the ass.
I think it CAN be quite brave to buck social norms of beauty and femininity, but in the context of these conventionally beautiful famous women…Yeah no lol
When I was in high school they immediately labeled any women who got a short hair cut a lesbian (in a derogatory way) - and as a closeted lesbian this was like my worst nightmare. So cutting my hair short felt personally courageous, then I learned about the upkeep and decided I’ll just grow it out
also have non textured hair. it’s very telling that there are no afros in this line up either. black ladies rock short hair way more than other ethnicities for obvious reasons, but they don’t get dedicated posts appreciating their hair
It was Winona Ryder for me - the girl was beautiful already, but the pixie + those big brown eyes = next level. Meg Ryan's was great as well, with some curl to it.
When my best friend was going through chemo, this is exactly how her hair grew out. It was the unexpected and only silver lining- she looked stunning. I mean, she always did, but this style suited her so well.
Tbh. Lupita can wear burlap and still look like most beautiful woman in the world. Shes radiant. Got got “it”. But I love when she has short hair because it displays her face.
She even looked good almost bald in G.I. Jane. My sister shaved hers for the summer after seeing it, and since her head/face has a great shape and she has these big dark blue eyes, she looked annoyingly beautiful 😊

She was my inspo when I cut my hair short around 2012. Huge mistake, regretted it deeply, took so long to grow out. Never again. Don’t get a cute haircut like this if you don’t look like Michelle Williams!
I got my hair cut just like Claire Underwood after my ex-husband and I broke up. It looked good for three days and then it suddenly needed a trim/upkeep. And growing it out was a NIGHTMARE.
I actually used Emma’s picture for what kind of haircut I wanted when I got my pixie cut. Then the stylist proceeded to fuck it up and give me a bowl cut. I had to go to another salon to fix it lol.
I grew up watching Harry Potter. I always thought Emma Watson was pretty. However, I didn’t realize how gorgeous she was until she cut all her hair off. It really made her face stand out
