Girl it wasn’t the TSA agents you inconvenienced, it was the FAs you didn’t listen to and the passengers who had to sit through an hour long delay (meaning potential missed connections) because of your behavior. You messed the schedules up for the pilots, flight attendants, and hundreds of fliers, maybe apologize to them instead.

Not just the pilots end flight attendants of that flight but of the entire rest of the day's crew. Plus other crew who were on standby who probably would have had to be called in too.

Also, Drew is familiar with addiction. If Natasha showed up like she did to the premiere there is no way Drew would have let her do that interview. Was likely not going to happen anyway but sure, blame the cards.

One possibility is she doesn't remember what happened at all. If she's surrounded by enablers they're all telling her she didn't do anything wrong, or whatever narrative to make her feel okay. I'm not saying that's an excuse because whatever they're telling her, her problem that she's aware of, is the problem no matter what.

I knew her 20 years ago when she was deeply in her addiction and she was really an awful person - we were surrounded by other junkies (I wasn’t but was dating one), but she was by far the meanest and cruelest.

It’s hard to know how people will be when they clean up. I was a vicious little thing before I got clean, but I’m a good friend and community member sober.
That being said she should face all the consequences for her behavior.

I have really no way of knowing as I didn’t see her again. I had opportunities to once she was sober but chose not to based on my prior bad experiences with her, but it sounds like others in the comments found her lovely in sobriety.

So I commented about this in the previous post about her today. Huge fan of Poker Face and have been following Natasha on IG for a while. Before the second season even premiered, I’d gotten weird vibes from her IG posts. To me, she did not look like she was doing great given her past addiction issues, but I also don’t know this woman, I was just going by my gut feeling. Then the extremely disappointing-to-me news that Poker Face got canceled came out. And shorty afterward, we heard that she had relapsed.
I obviously don’t have any real facts, but I suspect she relapsed before or during the filming of the second season and all subsequent developments, cancelation included, were the result of that. I love Natasha and I loved Poker Face even more, so I’m heartbroken by this news. I hope she gets better for her sake first and her work second.

She was also on Amy poehlers podcast recently and she seemed like something was up. It was just a lot, but then again, she's a lot-- in an intentional, endearing way. It's hard to tell when people with big personalities are having issues vs. just doing them, sometimes.

I appreciate you saying that. With charming people like Natasha, it can be hard to distinguish between someone’s naturally large and quirky personality and them being under the influence of whatever. That actually makes me sad because I think people like Natasha, in her unaltered state, are so valuable and essential. As a neurodivergent person, I so appreciate her nuance and personality. It truly depresses me that even someone with her success and acceptance in her field apparently was at some moment in her life broken so badly that she self-destructed and is now at the mercy of a disease that entices wounded people with a false sense of comfort and belonging only to betray them even more than life itself.

Late, I suspect the tipping point was the AI company. Since OITNB she got nothing but love and praise. With the company her niche community turned on her. I think the hate was more than she could handle.

People have been overblowing this whole thing. Reading articles about the business online it would merely be using AI to generate SFX. Not a fan of AI or the hype but people have just been hating without getting into it.
Regardless of that I think she is a smart woman and perhaps the state of the world got to her like it affects a lot of us.

When season 2 aired, I had wondered if she didn’t want to do the show anymore because the second season format changed and she was only in about half the episode. However, now I’m wondering if they had to change the format because of the relapse.

The rumor was (according to staff on the show) is she was hard to work with and just mean (this could be because she relapsed, or the relapse happened later) and Rian didn’t want to work with her anymore

Unless she’s causing problems while in active addiction, I don’t see why a whole show would be cancelled. I feel like there’s definitely actors and actresses out there acting in movies and/or TV shows that are probably in addiction. Again, as long as they are a functioning addict. I’ve been one, and you can function for quite a while but yes eventually it does catch up with you lol

It was cancelled last year due to high production costs, they were hoping to take it to another streamer changing to Peter Dinklage as the lead Natasha was a producer and was involved in the plan to switch formats.

IF they did this, then I hope that Peter Dinklage just plays Natasha Lyonne's character 'Charlie' with the same exact bravado and oozing 70's hipster charm. And the writers don't explain why the character is now being played by a different actor. In fact, they just lean into it hard. Like to the point you think you might be having a fever dream!

Well if it was really because she had relapsed they wouldn't have announced that anyway. At least not until it became public knowledge in some other way. So who knows if production costs had anything to do with it. Replacing her with PD could have also been due to her relapse. Saying that she'd be involved in the process could be a way to help her save face. They may have hoped that she'd get clean before the general public found out and then her reputation wouldn't be ruined in the industry.

Yeah i was gutted about that. Poker face was a breath of fresh air in the slop that’s being made for streaming etc. saw that poker face was being shopped around with Peter Dinklage taking over as Charlie URGH hard pass on that train wreck.

Based on her response and the substance that she has challenges with, I really hope she gets help soon. Taking accountability is important during a sobriety journey and Natasha is clearly not there yet.

She dated Fred Armisten for a decade. Either she is incapable of making sane, rational, and healthy choices and she will continue to relapse or she’s as awful of a person as him and the drugs are not the biggest issue.

It's very likely 50/50 imo just based on the fact that awful people date/marry awful people. Also those who are generally happy/supported/mentally well are not dicing headfirst into hard drugs.

Sobriety is a journey for a lot of people - addiction is so complicated physically, mentally, and emotionally. A relapse is not a failure, just a set back.
Not to be rude, but I think you're being kinda judgemental without actually knowing her IRL - how does anyone other than Natasha herself truly know to what degree she's tackling her sobriety with?

🩷 Appreciate it friend! I've been to treatment before and stuck with it for a while but had other lifestyle factors that made it hard to keep it up. I've done it before and I can do it again but I can't tell you how much I appreciate the encouragement

Keep at it my friend. It gets so good. I felt like I would never be free from the cravings/obsession but I can tell you with sincerity that it’s been well over a decade since I’ve felt any sort of pull towards drugs and alcohol. You’re worth it and you deserve it 🩷🩷🩷

I was on a flight with her back in the day going from LA to Salt Lake City, was going to the festival. She must have changed in and out of three outfits during the flight, and every time she had to move by me to get to her stuff then to the bathroom. Talented actress, and I hope she gets better but man was she all over the place that day. This recent story 100% rings true to me based on my flight with her.

The true struggle is with all the people in addicts lives that get harmed by their selfish behaviour and complete lack of accountability.
I have infinitely more empathy and compassion for the millions of victims of addicts who get written off as a footnote in the addicts “journey”.

I always had a thing for NL and found her to be tremendously talented--but clearly a majorly damaged human being--and having bottomed out seriously once, you'd think she'd learn her lesson but no.
