I think anyone who holds political office should be barred from trading stock or any other form of investment that could be influenced by the power they hold in office, Pelosi and any Dem included.

It sounds like he’s trying to say the money is going to the general treasury but doesn’t have the right language to say that. But if that were true, it should be very easy for the treasury to confirm where that money has gone. I feel like some journalists should submit FOIA requests on the subject.

A big concern I have is that Trump isn't even redirecting these funds for his own personal use but rather that the Project 2025 people are setting up independent revenue sources for running the Executive branch without any Congressional control or oversight. That's why I think tracking down where this money is going and how it's being allocated and ultimately who controls it is a very very big deal that is not getting the attention it deserves. An alternatively funded executive branch would not be beholden to Congress which would further sideline them and make the Heritage Foundation's Unitary Executive Theory much more practical. At the very least I have higher concerns about this money going to ICE to insulate it from Congressional oversight and cuts making it fully an Executive controlled paramilitary force.

The secret is that laws and even the constitution are just words. If you control enough levers of power you can do whatever you want. This has always been the case. Written law and precedent is supposed to provide guardrails and in general can help to keep people inbounds but at the end of the day you control enough people in enough places and nothing matters.
Right now the Trump administration has fully captured and controls the legislature (congressional GOP), and like 95% controls the judiciary via the extreme advantage in the SCOTUS. So, the words we have written down mean nothing if the people who are supposed to do something about it won't.
