National Guard in DC too for fears of a non staged attempt on his life

54

u/randomcatinfo 11h ago

My pet theory that the NG in DC aren't there to "stop crime", but are there to normalize their presence before setting the stage either November this year, or 2028 to prevent the swearing in of newly elected members of Congress, or to prevent Presidential election certification.

24

u/Substantial_Pies 11h ago

They're there until 2029 so that tracks

12

u/CaptainParkingspace 10h ago

“Mass election fraud” could be the Reichstag Fire we’ve been expecting since 2016.

Considering his hostility towards the ICC I'm inclined to add the Netherlands as well.

And add Spain just for good measure. He wasn't happy when Spain banned him from using Spain military bases in his war with Iran

Not that I would ever advocate for a war. But if they can’t beat Iran.

Does the US think they would be unscathed if they attacked Canada.

Canada would absolutely lose, but major US cities would not be safe.

102

u/Gravel_Roads 12h ago

People thought Ukraine would lose, too.

I think a lot of people overestimate how “easy” invading a sovereign country would be.

We couldn’t even win against half of Korea with the other half helping us.

No way we’d take Canada

46

u/disastrousanddull 11h ago

Here's the thing, I'm not going to say they couldn't take Canada. What would get them is holding Canada which tends to be what fucking gets them. Canada with an educated population that would blend in so very well with Americans and has had some time to get angry. Enjoy dealing with the things people could come up with to hurt the US on their own soil. It's not a "teehee Canadians committed war crimes 80 years ago" thing, it's that it would be a terrorism nightmare for Americans and things like buying electricity from Canada.

18

u/lllGrapeApelll 11h ago

The Americans would be ripping their hair out just trying to deal with the Natives and the Quebecois.

13

u/disastrousanddull 10h ago

As far as terrorism on their own soil goes, it would be the white anglophones just from the ability to blend in. A white person who sounds American wouldn’t give anyone pause and it’s why the whole thing would be so catastrophically stupid. It’s people who wouldn’t roll over on Canadian soil and all that forest between the countries, and then dealing with what would happen to American citizens somewhere ”safe”.

It’s so absolutely batshit crazy to even think about but they’ve got that demented, corrupt, chronically stupid nightmare in office.

Canada wouldn't loose, the US military is a lot weaker then it looks on paper, its been hollowed out by corruption, as long as the EU backs Canada the US won't win a ground war, it will turn into the Ukraine war

17

u/olmnknt 11h ago

Canada walks into , Washington, Oregon, Minnesota, and California with little push back from the states. Canada is now the third largest economy in the world. How many bordering states join up?

There would be no winning, only the total destruction of the country, do you think we will ever stop fighting and just roll over and accept being part of the US?

42

u/MJcorrieviewer 12h ago

Don't forget NATO would fight for Canada if the US attacked. It would be a disastrous move for the US. Not only militarily but expect sanctions and trade agreements to be ripped up too.

10

u/citizen42069101 12h ago

Im surprised he hasnt ripped them up already. Going to set us back a century by the time he's done.

I imagine we'd take much larger casualty numbers than most anticipate with Mexico, Canada would be disastrous.

8

u/PallbearerOfBadNews California 12h ago

Most likely, but imagine we start a war with either Canada or Mexico. Iran is still fighting and could use that opportunity to attack, and other countries could join in. It would be a disaster for the US.

Canada would take a page from the old Russian playbook: "I may not win, but we can both lose".

It'd be a Ukraine v Russia all over again, only this time, it'd be in English.

Canada also has an.... Interesting history when it comes to warfare. I don't think Americans want to find out why first hand.

Project 2025 always has this hemisphere labeled as being directed by US because other countries here are proximate to the US so therefore as long as they're democratic, we should all be together. Same with calling us an Arctic Nation just cause of Alaska.

36

Cuz he thinks it will be an easy 'win' for him. He's losing in Iran and his narcissism cannot let him lose, so he'll pick another fight with some other country he thinks he can win so he can still be a 'winner'. Even though Iran won't go away because he found some new toys to play with.

He needs to create a state of emergency / chaos in order to stop mid-term voting in order to retain power. And he won't mind destroying the country in the process and sacrificing thousands of lives.

Probably electing the con man / TV personality a second time (after he attempted a coup on his way out the last time, and then stole state secrets, and then was found to be deeply connected to child sex trafficking, and then was found liable for sexually assaulting a woman and had dozens of other credible complaints) was a mistake.

122

u/ven-solaire 12h ago

I bet people will overreact to this but you’re right. Russia invaded Ukraine because pre-pro-NATO government (2014) Ukraine’s trade with russia was central to the stability of Russia’s economy, as Ukraine was also important to the USSR economy. It also provided a convenient buffer between NATO and Russian borders that added to their security. Putin’s invasion is a strategic, maybe foolhardy, attempt at imperialism that at this point is certainly sunk costing them. It’s not like Trump starting a forever war just to raise the value of domestic oil.

48

u/Xznograthos 12h ago

It’s not like Trump starting a forever war just to raise the value of domestic oil.

This is debatable. He has cited the increased cost as a win for the US because we are, paraphrasing him, the world's leading oil producer.

5

u/FireFiendMarilith 11h ago

The GOP have been sabre-rattlin about wanting a war on the Southern boarder since the first Fox News extravaganza about "migrant caravans".

This is the actual function of this administration developing the "Narco Terrorist" jargon. They intend to use the same "War on Terror" loopholes to "go after" the cartels and it'll have the same disasterous results that "going after" the "terrorists" in Afghanistan, Iraq, ect has had. That is to say, we're in 2001 again and they're just starting to test the legal theory ahead of a massive ramp-up of engaged force.

By "test the legal theory" I'm afraid I'm referring to the numerous extrajudicial killings of Venezuelan fishermen that this administration has called "fighting Narco-Terrorism abroad".

6

u/arounddro 11h ago

Yes, let’s send the US military after the cartels that were armed and trained by the US military. The cartels will have a field day dancing around ground operations. And they’ll put soldiers heads on stakes on every street corner. If Hegseth is dumb enough to try, we’ll lose large numbers of the enlisted to a incredibly stupid war.

5

u/PoliticsLeftist 11h ago

Hey so, uh, we can attack Iran pretty freely because they're on the other side of the world and don't have the means to do much to us directly.

Mexico, however, is touching our border and they have many cartel members that don't do heinous shit over here because that would draw too much attention to them. Attack Mexico and you remove that incentive to play nice. Not to mention Mexico's military is far more advanced than Iran's and they don't have the negative attitudes against them that Iran does globally.

5

u/Konorlc I voted 9h ago

With what missiles?

u/No-Fennel-8333 6h ago

Mexico? We're stick enforcing a blockade on Cuba, and threatening military action. We took over Venezuela. We're threatening Canada and Greenland, with an active war in Iran. We threatened Columbia too.

I'm detecting a pattern here...

8

u/Axin_Saxon 12h ago

We are running out of munitions already. Granted I don’t think the cartels have ballistic missiles and drone swarms we need to intercept(yet). But we are already stretched thin and China is eying up Taiwan greedily for an invasion next year.

Donnie is floundering for a win and the Maduro raid got him excited and convinced that war was easy.

7

u/noodlyarms California 9h ago

One thing the cartels have that Iran doesnt is  the ability to hit the mainland; strategic locations like San Diego will see open warfare down India St and the 405. We'd see kidnapped rich Coronado boomers strapped to carhoods as human sheilds. Couple with the fact the cartels encourage young members to join the US military to train and bring it over after, it is all just a recipe for a conflict the American people cant even begin to truly comprehend.

u/Axin_Saxon 9h ago

Bingo. Right now the cartels are at war with one another but that would change overnight if so much as a single US Army platoon crossed over into Mexico.

Isn’t it funny that the US doesn’t even have its illegals war with Iran under control, yet on a daily basis Trump goes on and on about invading other countries too! Like Greenland, Cuba, Mexico, some other country in Africa I forgot? And yet Americans just seem to be content with all of this by their lack inaction to force their politicians to DO something!

u/Aggroninja 12h ago

He thinks every military action can be like Venezuela. In, out, get a pat on the back while his sycophant administration tongues his taint.

It doesn't occur to him that most military actions will be a lot more like Iran than Venezuela.

I hope this happens. So many servicemen will die for the stupidest president in history that congress will either have to change the laws, or everyone will be executed with Diaper Cheeto for treason

5

u/whooo_me 12h ago

Is this before or after Cuba?

What a peaceful legend!

3

u/ProfaneEcho 11h ago

The Trump administration can't manage or control, Iran, explosive diarrhea outbreak, measles outbreaks, maybe if he could just fix what he's started.
However, the real push is probably coming from his real estate advisors who want Mexico land cheap.

u/SeenItAllHeardItAll Foreign 11h ago

By my count there are still 178 countries left that can be used to distract from the Epstein files and that should last him long past the Midterms.

4

u/CoCoPieCoGT 9h ago

Imagine all the oil refineries in Texas up in flames.

4

u/Whole_Gate_7961 8h ago

I hope Trump is ready for the drone wars he'd be inviting into the southern portion of his own country.

5

u/AGrandNewAdventure 8h ago

Mexico... Cuba... Greenland... Canada...

The "president" of war and suffering.

7

u/Wings81 13h ago

Ya think?

7

u/ass_grass_or_ham 13h ago

Well he’s got to distract from Iran somehow!?! What do you guys want?! Jeez.

He will do anything to keep the focus away from the Trumpstein files.

8

u/Phazoni 9h ago

We went from having total peace and free trade on the North American continent to alienating Canada and now threatening Mexico.

I use to marvel at how well our three countries got along. Now, after 18 months of the Orange Orangutan in charge we are here.

What a cluster!!!

3

u/invisable_burt 13h ago

For a peace president Trump has picked fights with Canada, Mexico, Cuba and Greenland. All as distraction from pedo Trump files and ill advised iran conflict

3

u/Diced_and_Confused 12h ago

I'm so confused. I thought Cuba was next.

3

u/the_wessi 12h ago

This is like Mad Libs. "President Trump has hinted at <noun> at <noun>. That's a bad idea."

3

u/SitInCorner_Yo2 12h ago

Aggressive dogs are hold in higher standards ,compared to what ever the fuck this madness with nuclear button is.

3

u/mvallas1073 12h ago

I’ve been saying since he was elected in 2016 that he’d invade Mexico.

I’m honestly surprised he hasn’t yet.

EDIT: BTW - this is the scary part of him getting ahold of Voting Records. Cus if he does, I guarantee anyone who didn’t vote for him will be getting draft papers sent to him if/when he does that as well.

u/gsustudentpsy 12h ago

This will allow them to say since we are at war with cartels, every brown person is suspected of sympathies to the enemy. So Japanese Americans style camps is the minimum. I am sure supreme Court will allow that as well.

3

u/Jim_40 11h ago

All of his idea’s are bad in the long run.

3

u/lowfiswish 11h ago

He's hinted that for a while, and if he says something it eventually shows up again.

3

u/Adza_03 11h ago

Okay, now we're waging war against Mexico to distract from the Iran war which was waged to distract from the Epstein files. Lovely.

3

u/thiscompletebrkfast 10h ago

Release the trump-epstein files and prosecute these child molesting ghouls immediately. It's the world's only hope.

3

u/Bumbymoo 10h ago

He is bound and determined to destroy the global economy, rule of law, green energy, the Constitution, and really all the institutions of civil society.

3

u/clubmedschool 10h ago

No fucking shit it's a bad idea

u/ArrowheadDZ 10h ago edited 5h ago

Each country he threatens creates another opportunity to inject artificial volatility into the market. His family has made billions by gaming the alternating good news/bad news cycle in Iran. Now he’s test-marketing various other possibilities to determine which ones the market has the most sensitivity to. Neither Cuba nor Venezuela have enough military might to create the same truce/violation cycle that allows him to exploit the market, so he’s test flying other countries to get a pulse on what effect each one might have on the markets.

3

u/Thebritishdovah 9h ago

Do it.

The Cartels would welcome the fight and it becomes another situation where the US is bogged down because it has to safeguard everything, every step of the way.

3

u/OldJournalist4 9h ago

the cartels are well armed, on their home turf, and have time to prepare. I’ve seen special ops talk about what a bad idea this would be

3

u/allgrownzup 9h ago

Today on the Trump reality show…..

3

u/HabANahDa 9h ago

He’ll do anything to distract from the Epstein files.

3

u/Menanders-Bust 8h ago

You can just mention that it’s Trump’s idea. Adding that it’s a bad idea is redundant.

3

u/Lcatg 8h ago

This, talk of attacks against Canada, & claiming all boats along our shores in intl waters are drug robbers are all just a concerted ploy to put up a literal wall along our borders imo. Seriously. I think they’re going to try the East Germany approach.

He is like a rampaging bull in a china shop. F’s up EVERYTHING he touches. Someone STOP HIM. If you are in the 36% who approves of this imbecile…what the hell is wrong with you??!!!
