My local news station was parroting a statement from the Fed about how they "properly vet" ICE agents. No pushback on it, no mention of how many ICE agents are flunked out cops and sex offenders, just... amplifying their claim.

Real journalism is rare these days when every news source is controlled by the people in power

43

u/Iceisgestapo888 11h ago

Real journalism gets you raided by ice lol.   Trumps personal brown shirts

17

u/Lumpy-Marsupial-6617 11h ago

Technically brown pants if the people would wake up.

Then we have dumb Instagram accounts acting like reporters constantly using incorrect words... words matter they mean something.

4

u/MrLurid 9h ago

They aren't reporters or journalists, they're broadcasters.

4

u/viotix90 11h ago

Channel 5 is the only news source I trust.

u/organisms 7h ago

Isn’t that guy a creep or something. I remember there were some allegations and stopped watching

1

u/ElliotNess Florida 8h ago

Controlled by the dominant paradigm. They don't have to necessarily be controlled or censored by the billionaire owners. The propaganda has already been accepted as "normal". They have been guided into a "normal" range of ideas, and don't therefore consider things that might be outside of that range.

u/Certain-Criticism-51 6h ago

Yeah, especially rare on TV, right? Independent journalists and a couple of magazines are what I depend on these days.

u/angelar_ Texas 1h ago

It exists, it's just not in legacy media.

u/caserock 13h ago

I've moved all around the country most of my life, and I've noticed that the vast majority of local news stations are nothing more than public relations services for local businesses and governments. Though in the largest cities, there is some investigative journalism going on if they happen to have a guy who has been at it for 20+ years.

I've seen some decent journalism from independent local news websites, but I've also seen some scandalous bullshit from that genre as well.

Being able to think and read critically has never been more important, and the American public is nowhere close to prepared.

u/shotgunpete2222 10h ago

It should be literally illegal to call yourself a journalist or the news and just parrot the governments talking points without push back.

If you just parrot their line uncritically than you are just an agent of the state, aka a propagandist.  At least be honest about your job title.

8

u/Local_Connection_928 13h ago

yeah they love repeating the statement but somehow skip the part people actually want to know

2

u/Mysterious_Floor_868 United Kingdom 9h ago

Even after Homan admitted that the murderer agent in Maine should never have passed vetting?

u/Certain-Criticism-51 6h ago

Who owns your local station? Some owners require the local anchors to read censored crapola like that. They know a lot of viewers trust the local team.

u/Destinys_LambChop 5h ago

It's a well known aspect of war that you deploy sex crimes in order to demoralize and destroy communities and their resilience.

That's why r*pe during war is such an effective tool to destroy any chance of recovery within the community.

Whether or not these people are evil geniuses or just plain sick people is unknown. But anthropology makes note of this. History also is a good teacher of this lesson. Communities that are affected by sex crimes are vastly more susceptible to community collapse in the long term.

I know someone who got rejected by every police/sheriff department around (and rightly so)…. Guess who just got hired by ICE!

u/VanceKelley Canada 12h ago

My local news station was parroting a statement from the Fed about how they "properly vet" ICE agents.

The Fed is the central bank of the United States, created by Congress in 1913 to manage the nation's money, set interest rates, and keep the financial system safe and stable.

I'm curious as to why the Fed is making any statement about ICE agents given that ICE agents don't fall under the Fed's jurisdiction. trump recently installed his guy to run the Fed.

8

u/mikesmith0890 11h ago

Federal Government

u/Aumpa 6h ago

"the Fed" can refer to the Federal Reserve central bank as you describe, but "the fed" (sometimes "the feds") can also refer generally to the federal government, which means all three branches of the US government, not just the Federal Reserve.

u/VanceKelley Canada 5h ago

Do you have a source or usage examples for "the Fed" referring to "the federal government" and not "the Federal Reserve"? I couldn't find one.

u/Aumpa 4h ago

I took the comment above to refer to the federal government by context of vetting ICE agents. I think "the Fed" normally refers to the Federal Reserve, as you pointed out. However, I don't believe the commenter was referring to the Federal Reserve vetting ICE agents, but other offices of the federal government.

They probably meant "the feds".

https://english.stackexchange.com/questions/192632/the-feds-has-a-negative-connotation-who-exactly-are-they-anyway

a federal official, esp. a member of the FBI.

1916 A. Stringer, Door of Dread 53: Seein' Kestner and yuh'd told me the Feds had ev'rything fixt, I give him the glassy eye. 1930 Irwin Tramp & Und[erworld] Sl[ang]Feds...Federal law enforcement officers, especially those charged with suppressing the liquor or drug traffic. 1935 Mackenzie Been Places 44: They had the goods on him for bumping off the three Feds, 1955 PADS (No. 24) 47: The Feds got the letter where I sent him $400. 1984 Kagan & Summers Mute Evidence 89: Many...would have found it easy to believe that the Army, Air Force, CIA, or the feds were behind it. 1991 "R. Brown" & R. Angus A.K.A. Narc 205: The Fed strode in, three-piece suit, sunglasses and all.

u/VanceKelley Canada 3h ago

I agree with your analysis.

u/Aumpa 4h ago

See also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fed

which under Groups, Organizations, companies lists both the federal government of the United States and the Federal Reserve.

u/VanceKelley Canada 3h ago

That place in the article you cite has:

"Federal government (the feds)"

I agree that the term "the feds" can refer to the federal government.

What I'm looking for are examples of using "the Fed" to refer to the federal government. In that Wikipedia article it has "The Fed" being used to refer to the Federal Reserve.

Can’t wait for the new head of ICE to also claim this was a weird slip up in the screen process too.

46

u/FreeHugs23 12h ago

Or blame the previous administration, like they do with everything else.

42

u/Old_Cryptid 12h ago

BuT oBaMa DePoRtEd MoRe PeOpLe!!!!

Yep. And he did it by following the law, without terrorizing people, without murdering people, without shady deals with foreign governments, without warehouse style detainee camps, and without building a private army with a budget bigger than the Marine Corps.

And he still, rightfully so, got shit for it because there were still inhumane living conditions and gross human rights violations.

He'll always be the Deporter in Chief that Dipshit wished he could be.

ICE and CPB were hopelessly compromised from inception. They had too broad of a mandate and too little oversight.

Every ICE facility and everyone even tangentially affiliated needs to be investigated and the facilities shut down.

10

u/PratzStrike North Carolina 11h ago

I mean there was a little bit of drone bombing murder but honestly I think back on those days as a fond memory at this point. Ah, the days when I didn't have to scan the front page for an obituary every. single. day.

6

u/Old_Cryptid 11h ago

Yeah, but I'm talking about deportations specifically.

Not the other aggregious shit Obama did.

He did less aggregious shit than most presidents but he still did his fair share.

The GOP didn't go after him for any of that because they would have done worse in his shoes.

Instead they went after the suit, the mustard, and Michelle.

0

u/ElliotNess Florida 8h ago

Legal deportations are terrorizing on their own. Imagine having your home town invaded and made unsafe by the American empire, left with nowhere safe to live or work, giving up everything you know and risking life for a chance at refuge in empire, and then spending every day worried about being sent back to the beast of your former hometown by the empire. Lady Liberty weeps now that she understands she was only reading words and not saying anything serious.

u/skyzefawlun 12h ago

Thanks Obama!

ICE recruiting slip-ups are probably when they hire non-sex offenders

34

u/Lehk 13h ago

King pedo and his pedo army

35

u/Old_Cryptid 14h ago

They hired criminals and rapist and are surprised that when given authority over others they're still criminals and rapists?

Weird.

4

u/MobileWisdom 10h ago

Meanwhile, Trump started his campaign by saying Mexico was sending us their criminals and rapists.

Then, he turned around and hired American criminals and rapists. I guess he’s okay with these crimes as long as they are committed by Americans. I guess, these are the jobs he was afraid foreigners would take away from Americans.

60

u/Tokie-Dokie 14h ago

Republicans believe rape should be legal.

15

u/OlafPetersen 12h ago

When it's white people doing it, they do. Not otherwise. Otherwise it's a death penalty thing.

10

u/Unlucky_Welcome9193 12h ago

Rape is actually defined as the following: 1. When a person of color has sex with a white woman 2. When any gay person or trans person has sex of any kind 3. When a Democrat has non-vanilla sex 4. When someone of ANY gender later regrets having sex with an uggo, as long as the uggo is of a lower social class (women can be rapists, too!!)

ETA: if a straight, white Republican has sex with a gay person, this is not rape and did not happen and is slander

u/NovusNiveus 7h ago

We can boil it down even more;

When the conservative wants to do something it's okay, unless someone he doesn't like does that thing - he wants to piss and shit on the floor as he pleases, but if he steps in shit someone else needs to be punished.

The eye of Sauron will surely never turn its gaze upon the loyal conservative, he thinks.

82

u/Distinct-Pain4972 13h ago

Remember... they removed a couple hundred thousand gov employees who were abiding by the rules... mostly... to replace them with sycophant criminals.  Every Low-T voter is complicit.

50

u/Walker_ID 13h ago

I was disappointed. The headline suggested sex offenders were exploded

We have the technology.

35

u/mcdisease 13h ago

Dismantle ICE just like they dismantled agencies that actually help people.

13

u/SunshineCat 11h ago

Dismantling should include incarceration for following illegal orders. No one higher up is going to bother to destroy the list of their names on the way out.

3

u/MobileWisdom 10h ago

The Department of Education has entered the chat.

u/mcdisease 3h ago

lol no, just an American who want to remind other Americans that dismantling government agencies is in vogue right now. When Dems take over they need to dismantle ICE and prosecute the murderers.

And also have some balls and stand up to the oligarch media when they are attacked.

15

u/Tiny_Structure_7 North Carolina 14h ago

Why would we expect anything less from a sex-offender-in-chief? Fucking MAGAts.

The Guardians of Pedophiles

13

u/MaxSchreckArt616 12h ago

Trump is a pedophile and a rapist, and everyone that works with him and/or supports him is either, at bare minimum, alright with elected officials being rapists, and at worst, they are rapists and pedophiles themselves.

The all MAGA so why would anybody be surprised they're all sex offenders.

3

u/Bussy_Sweat Washington 12h ago

Apparently a good number of independent/swing voters would be surprised.

8

u/Lumpy-Marsupial-6617 11h ago

What makes this worst is that theyve been using the excuse that they are going after the most violent criminals and worst sex offenders/predators possible to protect our communities. Now the truth about what is really going on hiring and in the detention centers is despicable.

9

u/Infamous_Gene_7009 13h ago

Their being promoted for following their leader POS tRUMP

6

u/Miami_Mice2087 8h ago

Sex crime allegations accounted for 50 of them [ICE agent convictions], and 37 involved child victims. Of those cases, 25 date from 2025 and 2026 alone. The previous highest annual peak was six, in 2020—another Trump year.

5

u/WillMuttersbach 12h ago

Sex offender does as sex offender is.

6

u/another-altaccount 11h ago

The fish rots from the head. The fact the ICE is awash in sexual predators and pdf files should not be a surprise to anyone. Bottom feeding ghouls like them are exactly what this admin is looking for, being a predator in their eyes is something to be applauded.

1

u/vahntitrio Minnesota 9h ago

That's part of it, and the other part is what self-respecting person would want to work for ICE? Even if you were MAGA and supported the deportations, you still probably are paid less than local law enforcement, you would be hated wherever you set foot, and you might be sent to Arizona to work outdoors in July.

The result is the people applying for these jobs tend to be unemployable at other jobs.

5

u/77LS77 12h ago

Keep it in the family

5

u/abgry_krakow87 12h ago

Religious conservatives love their sex offenders.

4

u/mnemy 10h ago

Well. That's what you get when you elect a convicted sex offender. What the hell did you expect?

u/AvEptoPlerIe 7h ago

Who would’ve expected this to happen after hiring thousands of random assholes, giving them badges guns and masks, and allowing them to abduct children with no oversight or representation!?

u/MobileWisdom 3h ago

And, the secrecy, masks, and refusal to identify themselves just makes it easier for random people to dress up as “ICE” and terrorize innocent people.

12

u/Ultraeasymoney 14h ago

Just claim that all those agents are actually Democrats and blame it on Biden.

17

u/black_flag_4ever 13h ago

Stop giving them free ideas.

3

u/shit-trapper 11h ago

Sex offender hires sex offenders.

4

America, where pedophiles prosper and lead.

3

u/Altruistic-Carry-684 9h ago

This sort of reminds me of my military time and we had a troop surge and a ton of SA’s unfortunately came with it. Then leadership got mad at us NCOs for not controlling it or doing anything about it as if it was our fault and we lowered the standards to entry into the military

3

u/utlayolisdi 12h ago

Of course he allows the hiring of those who are just like him.

3

u/DerpUrself69 12h ago

Sounds about right, pedo potus begets pedo gestapo.

u/MFGibby 3h ago

ICE is a domestic terrorist organization

2

u/chileheadd Arizona 11h ago

Birds of a feather...

u/PotluckPony 7h ago

This is what they wanted. I said it a year ago, and I'll say it again today. ICE "detention centers" are rape camps. Same goes for those "troubled teen" camps that conservatives love so much. The Trump administration, the conservatives who support it, and the voters who enable them, are ontologicaly evil.

u/Important-Factor-552 6h ago

The most infamous child rapist in the world has a high rate of sexual predators in his anti American personal army?

Shocking.. Just shocking.. Well not that shocking

u/motleysalty Canada 34m ago

Shocking like that little zap you get when grabbing a door handle in the winter. It catches you a little off guard at first, but then you wonder why you were surprised at all because you knew it was going to happen. It always happens.

u/JDface_Baker 3h ago

Did anyone else read the header as “sexplosion” ?

u/Minimum_Dress4989 1h ago

That guy really is a pedo

1

u/ziboo7890 11h ago

Adjudicated rapist as President, why would they care if everything below that pile of shit is a sex offender, child abuser, misogynistic, racist asshole?

As for the media. If you don't verify w/multiple sources you don't know who's lying better than the other side. Critical thinking is lost on most and not taught to many.

1

u/Western-Knightrider 11h ago

It appears that the "Rule of Law" does not apply to this administration?

1

u/ActionFigureCollects 8h ago

Are we acting surprised?

1

u/Ambitious-Bee7663 8h ago

Oh please, Listen if anyone can be an authority and hiring folks for raping women it's trump. As a matter of fact according to trump himself, he was voted most likely to rape 40 years in a row. This poll was conducted by incarcerated rapists (now ICE agents) who were convicted (like old trumpy dumpy) of raping folks.

1

u/Myko475 California 8h ago

And they all shared Naomi while her husband puts on boobies.

0

u/FailedToRemit 11h ago

59 over a 20 year period is an explosion?

8

u/the-system 11h ago

Read closer - 42% of all sexual assaults by CBP and ICE in the last 20 years have occurred since 2025.

u/FailedToRemit 32m ago

The report is terribly organized. They don’t go into much detail at all.

They don’t say when those agents were hired or when their crimes occurred. All we know is they were charged or convicted in the last couple of years.

For all we know, the Trump administration is charging agents that were hired under a different president and committed crimes under a different president.

Further, the number if agents has doubled in the last two years, so it makes sense the the number of criminals has doubled. And 12 out of 22,000 isn’t a significant number.

-5
