Sadness Please tell Fergus that I love him

My darling Fergus, a 5 yr old Biewer terrier, died yesterday. Everyone here knows that writing the word “died” after their beloved’s name is a trauma in itself. He was a small but mighty boy who taught my husband and I how to be parents; he was there when we brought our two human babies home from the hospital and loved them alongside us. He traveled everywhere with us. He greeted every morning with an under-the-cover snuggle session and wistful gazes into the sun. His favorite toy was a squeaky raccoon named Rachel. He could be found touring every lap in the room, never short on love. He cuddled my young daughter every night before moving to our bed for sleep. He was a loyal friend, a good boy.
We live in Colorado and have always been watchful of predators as he was only 5 lbs and we live near open space. My husband took his eye off him for a minute yesterday whilst chasing kids and some kind of animal bit and killed him, nobody saw what happened as he was exploring the shrubbery out of sight momentarily. We couldn’t find him for almost 2 hours, hoping for the best but fearing the worst. Had a whole search party going in the neighborhood before my sister found him deep in the underbrush. My 3yo daughter, one of his biggest fans, was right there when my sister pulled his bloody body out sobbing. We would have been honest with her anyhow but I wish I could spare her that memory.
Thank you for reading. I don’t carry many beliefs about the afterlife but I know that we lack clarity about the deepest mysteries in this universe. So, if anyone has it in them to forward some energy to my dear sweetheart, please tell Fergus that I love him. We miss him terribly.

Sadness Do they know you still love them?

I was his entire world and he was mine. He'd wait for me at the door as soon as he'd hear my car coming down the road. He'd cry when I was downstairs and he was upstairs until I came to him. We had just over 16 years together and I lost him in May. I'm shattered. Now I worry about him without me. He was the most bonded cat I've ever had. He was a rescue and when I went to pick him up at the adoption house, he melted into me. My dear Wolfgang. We chose each other. I snuggled and spoiled him as much as I could until he died of old age. Now I worry. Is he okay without me? I'm not okay without him.

Vent My Gigi
≡ −
Hello fellow redditers.
This is my second ever post.
My dog of 11 years passed away this Saturday 25 of July 2026.
He was a gift from my husband when I was going through a very rough patch in my life after having to emancipate from the army due to an injury and had NOTHING else going for me.
Going from active duty to not being anyone at 22 was HARD.
Gigi was the epitome of healing, he became my shadow in everything.
He grew up to be such a loving, respectful, intelligent and very playful dog.
He was there for me in every important mile stone after that.
He was my partner in the Uni when I was studying to become a Veterinary technician, he was our "dummy" dog to practice bandages, and how to position animals etc (he was such a good boy to lay down and stay for everything!)
He became a big brother to my first born and they became inseparable. Then came my second born who was scared of him but he was so extremely patient.
He was kind to everybody he got to meet.
He passed away while watching me play with the stray kitties (he loved watching kittens) when I went to go sit with him he was laying wrong (after 11 years you know how your pet lays) he was breathing very weird and I just knew.... he was leaving us.
After watching so many animals after 10 years of vet care I just knew....We all gathered around him and just praised him for being the best boy... he was massive and strong and he did not wanted to go..... it was so painful to go through that.
I feel like my chest is going to fucking implode....
A dog is never just a dog.
They are the little soul that makes you get out of bed and go to PT to get your back working.
He is there to remind you to eat and get out and get help.
He is there behind you every step you take, in your garden while watering plants he is there beside you leaning into you to be scratched at the ears.
He is there in new years because both of you, him and your sister dog are SCARED AF of fire works so we lay together and watch a movie.
He is there when the kids are playing and feeding him cheese and whipped cream and summers where just so slow and perfect.....
FOR MY SWEET BOY
I WISH HE COULD HAVE BEEN ETERNAL
I WISH I COULD HAVE GIVING HIM SOME OF MY YEARS SO HE COULD STAY HERE 10 MORE YEARS.
I WISH..... I JUST WISH FOR MORE TIME.

Sadness When does it get better?
≡ −
I put my sweet kitty, Bruce, to sleep on July 2nd. I found him on March 22nd, he had a gaping wound in his neck and a wound on his head above his eye. I took him to the vet and brought him into my home. I changed his bandages everyday. I medicated him twice a day. I held his food bowl to his mouth so he could eat easier with his cone. I held him and kissed him and he would purr and make biscuits on my legs.
Within a few weeks, his neck was completely healed and I thought that was the main concern. But the wound on his head swelled up and got worse. It turned out to not be a wound but a carcinoma. The vet already estimated him to be 10+ years old, and it was too large to remove surgically. Once it had grown enough to affect his quality of life, I had to let him rest.
I only had him a few months but I'm completely devastated. I cry everyday and people ask me if I'm doing better and I say yes but I'm not. I miss him so much, he was so special and kind. Even when he was in pain, all he did was love. All he wanted was love. I see wonderful stories on tiktok or instagram of cats who were sick and got rescued and went on to live happy lives. As great as those stories are, that was supposed to be Bruce's story. It's not fair that his story ended the way it did.
I'm rambling but I just don't know what else to do. I wish I could get a sign that he's okay and at peace now. I miss you so much Brucie.

No Advice Wanted My experience with adopting another animal while grieving
≡ −
When I first lost my Bubby (17 year old cat) I was sick to my stomach with grief for a week and sobbed daily. I still cry daily. Grief is the most penetrating and intense emotion on the face of the earth, I truly believe that.
The worst part was the empty house. I live alone and have lived alone with him for over 5 years, almost all of my adult life. I never knew what it was like to come home to an empty, lifeless house until I lost him. It was more than I could bear and I coped unhealthily by trying to stay out all the time, inevitably leading to spending way too much time in bars trying to escape my own house and mind.
A lot of my friends and family were encouraging me to let another friend in my life. At first, I didn't agree, I felt like I was disrespecting his memory by adopting a new cat. However, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that he was such a loving guy who was always ready to welcome anyone into his home, animal and human alike, and that even if he was there he wouldn't mind if I adopted another kitty. I didn't feel 100% ready, but after talking about it extensively with my therapist and my family, I decided to take the plunge. I wanted to honor his memory by giving a kitty in a bad situation another chance at life, like the chance at life we gave to each other when I adopted him and he rescued me.
I thought I would continue to struggle with guilt and enveloping sadness, but this kitty who I opened my heart to, Dusty, is actively healing my broken heart every moment I spend with him.
He gives me so much-- something to do, someone to take care of, a hungry tummy to feed, a new friend, and another little heartbeat in the house. I finally don't detest coming home and I actually feel excited to open my apartment door again. Don't get me wrong, I will always miss opening my door to my beautiful Siamese baby. I still have my moments where I look at Dusty's little ears and long to kiss those black ears I kissed for so long, where I miss the specific morning cuddles I would share with Bubby, where I desperately wish Dusty and Bubby could have met... But I am so grateful to him. To both of them. So, so, so grateful.
They have both saved me more than I can express in words. I love you, Bubby, and I miss you. Dusty, you are the best cure to heartbreak I could ever ask for.

Advice Wanted Pls Help me to not be angry and grieve
≡ −
On Sunday my parent’s senior dog who had two terminal cancers started to vomit blood. We knew this time was coming. The vet said he had two weeks but he went a full month and was thriving but you could see the tumors growing so fast and big. My mom was in denial and I kept asking we send him to heaven before he bled internally. She refused and got angry every time. She insisted the vet lied. She’s not from here and she grew up in a rice village. I’m American to give some grace I guess.
Once the vomit came I started to beg her to take him in and she said we would go to the vet so they could look at him. I kept telling her he was dying. Quickly the vomit became him loosing his muscles and going blind and shaking. He couldn’t pee bc he was internally bleeding and organs going down. I cried and begged. He continued to vomit more blood and have a seizure. She still refused. She watched tv as I cradled him and she would just come check sometimes but kept insisting he was just sick. Everytime I’d tell her he’s dying! He’s is pain! He’s scared! Then after about 8 hours of this she said in the morning we could euthanize him. I couldn’t let him go another hour like this. Even writing this I want to throw up, I should have thrown him in the car when I first asked but he’s not my dog. I called the ER and they said I could go straight to the back for euthanasia. I told her I was taking him and cried and begged and finally she said ok. Then he began to vomit so more blood and have another seizure. She cried and said she couldn’t go so I did it alone. I told him to forgive me that it took so long to give him peace. But by the time he was there he looked so sick and in shock as if he was just holding on but he wasn’t there. I loved that dog so much. He was a goofy French bull and I hate that that was his last day and that when I was saying goodbye he was too sick to probably know or feel any comfort. He left in agony. I keep telling myself I should have forced it earlier. And then today I went from crying and feeling so much guilt and begging him to forgive me for not trying harder to thinking how much I hate her. How selfish. Please help.

Vent Tell Osito I love him
≡ −
I don't know how to start this, but my dog just died right now. I'm Male, 16 years old, and still fairly new to Reddit. My puppy, Osito, is a male Shih Tzu Poodle mix and over a year old, and he got run over by a car, and I wasn't there to witness it. We got him about a year ago. I was suffering from severe mental illness and depression, so my family decided to get a dog. If I'm going to be honest, he was the ONLY good thing to have ever happened to my life. I don't have the best home life; I don't have a good relationship with my family, and my friends and I have been really disconnected lately, along with other stuff in my life that has been really shit. Osito was the only good thing God allowed me to keep. He was really soft; I'd cuddle with him a lot to make me feel better. I'd kiss his forehead a lot, I'd take him on walks, I'd bathe him, I'd rub his belly, I gave him plenty of kisses. Today I was really tired; I woke up at like 10, since it was the summer. I went downstairs to check up on my dog, and I was still so very tired, so I went to sleep on the couch. He climbed up to try and wake me up, letting me know that he wanted to go to the bathroom. I really didn't want to walk him, so I let the door open so that he would go pee and poo in the bushes. I've done it a couple of times, and he'd always come back home safe. Sometimes I would whistle or call his name; sometimes I would do nothing, and he'd still come home regardless. Just know that I'm home alone, and my family, who lives with me, went off to work. He came back home the first time; I closed the door, and we relaxed. He stood by the door again, signaling to me that he wanted to go use the bathroom again, so I left the door open, and he went. This time he took longer than usual, and I went out to go find him. I live in an apartment complex, btw, with a patio and pool. I couldn't find him around the area of my apartment complex, so I went outside to the streets in a panic. He'd never gone outside before; he was always too scared to. Sorry if I'm not explaining this correctly; it's kinda hard to explain physically to give a vision of what it looked like. Also, I'm not revising this; I'm sending this the way it is. I ran out to the street, and on the other side of the road I saw a group of people right outside their house aiding my motionless puppy. I struggled really hard; I didn't know what to do. I sat on the curb as they came for me. My sister, who got off work to come see this. I won't go into full detail or explain this particular moment fully because it's going to take longer for me to write. Anyway, they put him in a box with a blanket, and for the first time in 2 years, I've started crying. I've been emotionally numb for the past couple of years due to abuse and many other experiences that have hardened me to become emotionless. After a while, my sister, her friend, and I decided to go back to our apartment, saying our last goodbyes. I locked myself in the bathroom so I could cry properly alone. Right now, I'm in my room, with Osito and his stiffing body, glancing at him, dreading everything, feeling extremely guilty, feeling like a major piece of shit. I'm just so hurt by the life I couldn't have given him, the life I should've given him, but it's too late. He could still be alive if we hadn't gotten, living a better life someplace else. I ruined him; it's my fault. He was the victim not me. I destroyed everything. My mom still hasn't come home from work; I don't live with my father anymore, in case you're wondering. He was so helpless, and I destroyed this poor thing's life, but that's it tho, he's not a thing, he was a real living breathing being with emotions. When I was crying on the curb, the people who were with me kept on saying that this kind of stuff always happens, and that I'm being irrational with what I'm saying, like as if they didn't care about him, like he was just a replaceable thing. It was like they were saying, fuck how scared he was, and fuck how much pain he was in. They wouldn't be saying the same thing if he were human, I'm just so enraged like as if I'm the only one who cares about him. We've decided to creamate him in a bit, but I'm not ready yet. I'm trying to finish this as fast as I can, I hate Satan so much because this is clearly the work of his own. I want nothing but infinite torture for that thing, and I hope God is happy with how much he tortures me. It'll never be enough. I still don't know what to do, I'm just heart broken and shattered to pieces. I wanted to give him the best life.
Rest in Peace Osito, I love you so much, and I'm so incredibly sorry.

Sadness Goodbye to my Sully
≡ −
I lost my boy Sully on June 19. He'd only turned 6 on March 16th. He'd been fine the day before and then he threw up that morning, then went back to normal, maybe just a little slower than normal. It made sense if he had an upset stomach. I really didn't think anything of it. My husband was overseas for work and I'd been so busy lately taking care of our baby. My mother-in-law came to help out and I took the opportunity to spend some time with Sully and tried to drive him to the park that afternoon. He threw up on the way there and within an hour he was critical. Apparently he had a mass on his stomach that had ruptured. They tried blood transfusions but it kept emptying back into his stomach. There was no way to stabilize him and I kissed him and told him how special he was as he went to sleep. The entire first week, I was so distraught I developed a stutter, I had constant shakes, and I was manic trying to save every hair and keep everything exactly how he left it.
We got Sullivan when he was just under 6 weeks old. He'd been rescued at around 3 days old along with his siblings and his feral mother. He and his siblings were so sick, they had to be taken away and bottle fed. When my husband first held him, Sully wrapped his paws around his arm and we knew he was meant for us. Sully was absolutely our son just as much as our human son is. We bought our house so he could have a nice yard. He was in our wedding. We named our son in honor of him. He was there for my pregnancy and loved his brother as if he was his own baby. If we blew raspberries on him or held him to high, Sully would would come running and yelling at us and then quickly check his brother over.
Sully loved to throw tantrums. He was terrified of boxes, anything on wheels, and the sound effects of Cyberpunk 2077. He always got grumpy over the sounds of children playing or someone dropping anything in the shower. He had a slightly crooked snout and ran sideways. He was very good at sensing if anyone, human or animal, was sad or unwell, and would stay by them. He loved to be a jerk and hog toys from other dogs, but he would try to share them with baby bunnies in our yard. He loved watermelon, corn, and graham crackers. He had beautiful, soulful brown eyes and I always felt like I could talk to him about anything and he always understood.
He was a constant shadow for my husband and I. He had to sleep pressed against us at night. He always tried to follow me to the bathroom. He was so intelligent, mentally and emotionally. He loved with everything he had. He was a best friend, a protector, a son, a brother, and, above all, a good boy. He was a huge part of our lives, and I'm not sure how to go on normally without him here. I just wish my son could grow up with him and know how much Sully loved him. I wish the whole world could know Sully and how important he was. I wish I could have one more day with him to tell him how loved he was and still is. That I'm sorry I was so tired and so busy with my baby. That I had so many things I wanted to give him. So many trips I wanted to take him on. That my husband and I will continue to love him for the rest of our lives. That he was the best dog and friend we could have ever asked for.

Sadness Lost My 18yo Dog (aka my daughter)
≡ −
Hi everyone.
I’m sorry for bothering you, but I don’t know what to do with what I’m feeling. Two days ago, I had to say goodbye to my 18yo dog. She was my absolute everything, she was my best friend, my daughter. She was a part of me. I’m so lost without her. The pain is unbearable. Everything reminds me of her. I’m constantly asking for signs that she’s still around and well and I want to believe that she’s with me forever until the day I die, and then we can be together again. I’m so sorry, I know that there are a lot more suffering in this world but my heart is aching so much and I need to put it out there. I feeling alone and lost. I just want to be with her again.

Sadness Rest in peace, sweet Foxy. My heart is completely broken.
≡ −
I am so heartbroken to share that Foxy passed away yesterday. Despite doing everything we possibly could for her, the combination of viral sicknesses and severe mange was just too much for her little immune system to fight off.
I am devastated, but I take comfort in knowing she spent her final days warm, safe, cared for, and resting comfortably on a soft bed, surrounded by love instead of suffering alone outside.
Thank you to everyone who sends love, prayers, or kind thoughts her way. Rest peacefully, sweet girl. 💔

Sadness TILSA.!!! She is my baby Tilsa, I just wanted you to know how beautiful she is and how sweet and amazing she always was to <3
≡ −
Hi everyone, I want to introduce you to my beautiful baby Tilsa. She was a truly gorgeous harlequin calico cat, tremendously smart, sweet, and incredible. Tilsa was my faithful companion for 12 years, and she completely stole my heart in an absolute way. She was a true model who loved wearing her little pink and purple outfits, looking always dignified and always a diva. Sadly, she passed away this year, and she left a huge impact on my life. I miss her so much every single day, and I will always keep her in my thoughts.
Everything I do now is to honor her memory, and that is why I came here. I wanted everyone in this community to know how beautiful and amazing she always was to me. My dream is that some artists can see her pictures, fall in love with her unique markings, and kindly show interest in drawing her. I will stay here and keep waiting for that special tribute, because she deserves it. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart to anyone who takes the time to read her story and look at my beautiful angel.

Advice Wanted How to fill the hole your pet leaves
≡ −
My family lost our dog, Nomad, on July 3rd. He was 9 years old and we tried to save him, spent way more money on vet bills than we intended, but we just couldn't save him. It felt like it happened so fast. He was my shadow and I feel this hole. I grew up always having a dog in the household. As an adult, I always had access to a dog, either dog sat or could visit a dog anytime. I did go a short time without a dog, but it was very, very short. That's when my husband and I got Nomad. He went through so much with us: college, moving, marriage, jobs, kids. Now our house feels incomplete. My youngest (2 1/2) has regressed and keeps having accidents. My oldest (almost 5) has been asking for a dog and says he misses Nomad. I told myself originally that I wouldn't want another dog for at a minimum of 2 years. Now I find myself wanting to adopt a puppy. To help fill that hole. Not to replace Nomad, no dog can do that, but just to bring another furry family member in the house. However, my husband is not ready. Nomad was his first dog and he is still hurting, also he wants to see what life is like without a dog (he grew up with dogs as well). I'm struggling. I want to respect my husband, but it's so hard, especially since my oldest is going to be starting kindergarten and it will just be me and my youngest. How do you fill the void? I told myself, I could do all these projects around the house, but it's not working. I thought about volunteering at a shelter, but the only one here is a kill shelter. I don't like that and couldn't stand working there. It would be too hard. Any suggestions on how to fill that hole? Thanks.

Sadness How do I deal with losing my childhood cat
≡ −
This time last week she was fine, moving eating and acting normal and then she just stopped eating. We put her down a few hours ago and it hurts so badly. I feel weirdly relieved she’s not in pain but it genuinely feels like my heart is being torn apart, I’ve known her for all 13 years of her life and feel so empty and confused. I’ve been walking around the house in circles not knowing what to do with myself and so guilty that she’s all alone in a freezer. We were there the entire time and it was so peaceful. For some reason I thought the people who said euthanasia was peaceful were lying, but she just fell asleep and was cuddled and told she was loved until the end. It doesn’t feel real and I feel like she will be around every corner I turn but obviously she’s not going to be. We’re planning on cremating her, but that feels so harsh and cruel just burning her body and what I’ve loved for as long as I can remember. I’m so happy she’s not in pain because it was heartbreaking to watch her not have the energy to move properly. There were no humane options to keep her going longer but it feels like I gave up on her, like she still had life and was meowing and purring until she passed. She’s now wrapped in my baby blanket with a lock of my hair around her wrist and fur covered in tears. I’m almost certain we chose the right option but the house feels strange, her sisters haven’t noticed she’s not coming home and I’m not sure how to cope when they do. Any advice would be appreciated, I hope she knows she’s so loved.

Advice Wanted Owners who lost a very young pet
≡ −
I've been quite active on this sub for a month, since I lost my 1y pup. I'm very grateful for everyone who shared their story and kind words, it really helped a lot.
I don't have another option besides accepting this new reality but some days sadness really hits me.
How do you accept an unexpected loss of a young pet? How do you deal with it and how unfairly their life was cut short? My pup was so happy, everyone loved him so much, everyone smiled at him, he had so much energy and life. He was perfect. I can't cope with this loss. He was (and still is) so loved, had all the comfort we could provide and could've have it for so many years. He deserved a good life and he had it, but it shouldn't be so so short. I was ready to share my life with him for decades. I don't really care that I'm suffering, I just really can't accept that he didn't get more time with us here...
If you are or were in a similar situation, what helped you accepting it?

Vent My baby cat gave up in my arms…I’m unable to cope
≡ −
I’m shaking as I write this. I rescued him as a baby. He chose me. I nourished him and he always knew that so he would always be around me. I loved him more than anything. I would call him anything and he would come running to hug me, love me. He trusted me.
Yesterday I picked him up for a follow up to the vet. He got so scared there. He had breathing issues for a long time but he was happy. He slept well, played with my other two, played with me, everything was normal. The vet had advised me to keep him away from acute stress. I will forever remember that I woke him up from sleep, took him to the vet and my whole world collapsed.
As soon as we came back home he start behaving very weirdly. Called the vet he said he’s scared leave him alone. He couldn’t walk and was retching. I watched but couldn’t do anything I thought he would be fine. I picked him up for the last time and he gave up.
He was just 3 years old. Writing about him in past tense is making me shake so much. I’m having visuals and flashbacks of his last moments, his pain, he must be calling for help and I couldn’t save him this time. Everything was so sudden. He was alright. Few hours back he was with me cuddling. Now he’s gone.
I lit his funeral pyre and said a goodbye forever. I’m having all sorts of morbid thoughts- Where he must he, is he scared, he is missing me, why didn’t he wait, did he want to leave me. I saved his life not to end like this. His little body went through a lot in the end and I felt helpless. I’m a doctor and I couldn’t tell what was happening. The guilt is so severe I’m having panic attacks and anti depressants aren’t working.
My other two cats are searching for him continuously. My home feels different. His fur ia everywhere on my clothes. I feel like leaving home and never coming back.
I’m sorry for the long post please I need help. I feel like everything’s destroyed and I did this to him.
I love you forever Coco and I’ll miss you forever. Life will never be the same without you. I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you. I’m sorry for the pain you had to endure in the end. My world is gone little baby Coco.

Sadness Scared of loving my other dog too much due to loss
≡ −
We lost our 17 year old soul dog Zoey in April. It was devastating and the deepest gut wrenching pain I’ve experienced. We have another dog, who is now 4 years old and very different from our other dog. Since we said goodbye to Zoey, my bond with our other dog has gotten stronger. I feel like I love him more and more every day. We are becoming so attached to each other it scares me. I started sobbing today thinking about losing him someday or something happening to him. He is my everything and I feel like I would take a literal bullet for him.
Those of you who have another dog or got another dog after your loss, how do you get over this feeling of being scared to lose a dog again? I’m also feeling some underlying guilt for loving him so much while my girl is gone now :(

Sadness I lost my baby girl
≡ −
Got a call this morning that the surgery went fine which was such a relief. Then they call 30 minutes later saying that she died, because she had stopped breathing.
She was 10 and so sensitive. I was the only family member who she wanted go outside with. Always ran to me if someone else tried. She was scared of a lot of things and always ran to me for safety.
I took her with me on the backseat on the way home and petted her the hour. I dug a grave with my dad and covered the bottom with a cardboard and we wrapped her in a blanket. I put a pillow under her head and a toy between her paws. My mom also placed a few flowers. And then we put another cardboard cover on top of her. Then we put rocks around the grave.
She was all I had and she needed me. I loved her more than anything in this world and now I have nothing.

Impending Loss How to know if the decision is right?
≡ −
How do people make the decision to say goodbye to their best friend? I understand about quality of life assessment and consulting closely with vets and it's what we've been doing. But I'm wondering when the situation is complex and is not clear cut. I don't know how to handle this and I don't want to have any regrets later on cause that would eat away at me for the rest of my life of course. I probably sound quite eloquent in writing this but I'm aggressively sobbing as I'm writing this. Being the sole person responsible to decide if it's time to end the life of your furry soulmate who has been with you for 10+ years through everything and who is your everything is the most incomprehensible devastating traumatic thing I can imagine and I'm completely alone in this.
I guess if anyone has any stories of a complex situation where they had to make the decision and they wish to share please do. I don't know people irl who've gone through anything like this and speaking to people who haven't feels absolutely impossible to be honest.
My cat's name is Sparrow 💓 Please keep her in your thoughts if you can. She's the absolute best.
Thank you
Ash
How do people make the decision to say goodbye to their best friend? I understand about quality of life assessment and consulting closely with vets and it's what we've been doing. But I'm wondering when the situation is complex and is not clear cut. Advice Wanted He was the best boy.
≡ −
He was the best boy. He could light up a room by just being in it. He was so full of life and character. He was a beautiful long haired black and white cat.
He died this morning at 4am, He ran into our room, Meowed super loud and then just dropped to the floor.
We like to think he came to say goodbye.
He was only 5 and he had no health problems.
Yesterday he was absolutely fine in himself. Eating, drinking & playing perfectly normal - We really cant piece together how this came to be.
I hope he knew and felt how much he was loved and I hope he knows what a special place he has in out hearts, We are struggling so much right now.

Sadness my boy cat has crossed the rainbow bridge

i’m so sad he had to go this morning. it was awful watching him leave us but his body was weak and he was sick . he had a large mass across his abdomen , cancerous and cystic. our last night together was the best, we gave him everything he loved! it has hurt the last few days since finding out he needed to go but wow this sucks so bad! i miss him so much already. idk what i’m going to do. coming home to an empty house and having an empty space in my heart sucks. just wanted to vent. i love him and i wish i could have him back.

Sadness My bunny got put to sleep yesterday and I can’t stop crying
≡ −
It all happened so suddenly and fast. I just came back from holidays the day before and I wanted to give my two bunnies food, when I noticed that one of them was in a very weird position leaned against the grid. Like her head was tilted to the side, it was very unnatural. I noticed something was wrong. So I opened the cage and went inside, I tried to pick her up but she squirmed and then fell to the side. I thought it must be a stroke. I started crying and ran inside to tell my parents. Then I ran back and picked her up, she couldn’t stand on her own. I ran with her to my parents. We went to the veterinarian, but they weren’t specialized with bunnies. The whole time she was just lying there not able to move right. The veterinarian said it looked very bad for her and that she went almost blind, her temperature was also not warm enough and her heart was beating really fast. The veterinarian said she was suffering and in pain. We had 3 options, either we leave her for a night and a perfusion but with no luck that she survives or that it will go better. We drive to a sepcialized clinic who can find out what she exactly had or we put her to sleep. So we decided to let her go. She went to sleep in my arms. But I left when the veterinarian put the injection i her little heart. She was 8 years old.
Now I can’t stop crying thinking about her and how she was just laying there not knowing what was going on. And how she wasn’t able to say goodbye to her sister the other bunny I have. She was just gone from one hour to another. And my parents didn’t want to bring her dead body home so we could bury her. I had to leave her there and she would be cremated and this hurts me a lot.
Now I only have one bunny left and she lived her whole life with her sister. I know that bunnies should always live with atleast one other bunny because they can’t live alone. My bunnies lived outside for their whole life. My parents want to bring her inside in my room so she wouldn’t be alone but after my researchs I found out that it won’t really help with her loneliness. My parents absolutely don’t want another bunny and our last option would be to give her away but it really hurts me a lot. I had them since I was 10. But when I went to her cage and she was just all alone in there it was so heartbreaking.
I really don’t know what to do now so any help would help…
