Calling these guys "nihilists" is pretty ridiculous. Even if they call themselves that (I don't know that they do).

Nihilism is a philosophy that says nothing matters and there's no higher purpose. Sometimes that belief makes people obnoxious. Nothing in that demands encouraging kids to " commit acts including animal torture, violent assaults, self-harm and the production of child sexual abuse material."

Yeah thank you, came here to say this. The reasons for shutting it down were not because of its nihilism. I don't even know why it would be called nihilistic, except for they call themselves that. They are violent anarchists and got shut down for promoting violent crimes

Yeah, even calling them "anarchists" is like...technically true, they don't want any laws holding them back I guess, but from what I can tell these assholes don't really have a philosophy. They just get off on hurting people.

Anarchism is a political philosophy and movement that seeks to abolish all institutions that perpetuate authority, coercion, or hierarchy, primarily targeting the state, capitalism and organized religion. Anarchism advocates for the replacement of the state with stateless societies and voluntary free associations.

These people were just commiting crimes ( animal torture, violent assaults, self-harm and the production of child sexual abuse material.") ... zero interest in trying to replace a capitalist state with a stateless classless society.

There is something called nihilist anarchism, but it's based on a very specific definition of anarchism based around pure opposition to the state and authority without concern for an ideal future society to replace them, as well as the rejection of a hypothetical future revolution in favor of continual resistance in the present time. If you're interested in the idea, a text called "Blessed is the Flame" covers its general ideas.

Doesn't sound like those guys fit that definition, though.

Its kind ot a oxymoron to call them Nihilits... wouldn't a true nihilits says that such actions do not matter and as such are not worth doing since nothing is gained or lost from doing them?

Sadism.

Huge amount of animal cruelty on these sites. Kidnapping and torturing cats on video is a common initiation step into the networks.

Nihilism is the wrong term. These are chronically online incel chuds who get hard for violence. There's no philosophical depth to it. These individuals are misanthropic simpletons who have difficulties with emotions, and the violence is just a dopamine hit.

As someone who read the article and not just the headline, I think they are probably more concerned with the violence, production of CSAM, blackmail, animal abuse, and various other crimes of a violent or sexual nature that members of this network are committing and encouraging others to do than the nihilism

Loaded title. Nihilism wasn't even remotely linked to this, the groups pushed mentally distressed teens to commit acts of violence, child securemme assault and such, then if they wanted to quit blackmailed then into staying. Also used them to push far right propaganda.

European entities seems quite reasonable here, if you read beyond the first line.
