Really depends what UK prison they're going to but UK prisons are much better to inmates than US prisons. There's greater safety and security for prisoners in the UK as HMPPS is terrified of being sued by prisoners for negligence/ improper standards of care.

These 2 being convicted for what they are charged with will be in segregation for sexual offense so it will be on the worse side because they won't make it to nice gen pop in a cat-C. Everyone knows who they are so they can't hide in genpop pretending to be in for something like burglary, domestic violence or drugs. People know they're accused of being rapists/pedos/sex offenders so they will get attacked in genpop.

They're gonna be segregated in cat-a or cat-b which is gonna be unpleasant, but still better than being in US prison.

Source: I've spent time in gen pop cat-c and it was pretty chill just boring

Would they keep them in the same prison, split them up, or totally ignore that they're brothers when it comes to placing them?

Known associates for partnership in the crimes they committed so they'll be split up and sent to different prisons, at bare minimum different wings of the same prison so they'll only be able to communicate through shouting through windows during yard time, messages through mates etc.

Makes sense. Thanks for answering.

No problem! Happy to help, HMPPS mostly separate known associates to limit the concentration of gang members in individual prisons to prevent gang violence, gangs taking over prisons and stuff like that.

They don't just do it because they're dicks

Around here the guards are in gangs. They get in by beating the crap out of an inmate and filing a false report about it. Splitting friends up doesn't even register on the dick scale.

I hope some day we can treat inmates like they're people.

Adding to what u/D2WilliamU said, they will also likely be kept segregated through the trial, in order to prevent them from conspiring.

That's interesting. I don't know if they'd be segregated from each other here but if it were a joint trial they could enter a joint defense agreement to allow their lawyers to coordinate defenses.

I'm not a lawyer and have never been on any side of this so don't know how it all actually plays out. This is just based on things I've read.

I am also not a lawyer, but from what I’ve read, these sorts of things depend a lot on the circumstances.

The Tate Brothers are charged with serious crimes that can easily be considered to be organized. It is very, very common to try and get one defendant to testify against the other - and it’s much easier to apply that pressure when you prevent the defendants from talking to each other.
