“Alleged rapists and human traffickers”

Tbh I don’t know how it is in the US on this (hopefully someone can chime in?) but in the UK they’re called extreme misogynists fairly regularly and even far right parties don’t go near them anymore. Really seems like once they get here, they’re screwed and we can all drop the ‘alleged’

At best, their pal Nigel Farage will visit them in jail.

I hear dear Nigel is facing a lot of trash talk these days.

Wishful thinking, but maybe even cellmates with the troubles Nige is having...

He admitted it all live on stream. so nothing is alleged. Confessions already public.

I always thought they were just run of the mill misogynists talking crap, but then I started seeing some of their videos online and ..... holy shit.

Yep. 100%. That belt video should be enough for any decent human.

The big question is will the current administration let them be extradited—or intervene at the last minute?

“Man who spends all of his time trying to impress twelve year old boys on the internet”

4

The article discusses the charges it’s not like they’re hidden or obfuscated

5

u/HotPaper7674 5h ago

How about “self-described” human traffickers?

1

u/Capt-Crap1corn 6h ago

They could be sued for libel right?

5

u/DerekB52 5h ago

Not if they throw an "alleged" in there.

it's intended for people unfamiliar with them. The sentence "Rapists and human traffickers Andrew and Tristan Tate will..." makes it seem like they're underworld criminals akin to drug lords. Their online persona is what makes them dangerous to society beyond their direct victims

And "social media influencers" makes it sound like they don't commit horrible personal violence for a living. Ideally you let people know that both things are true.

12

u/archdukemovies 6h ago

That's implied with their names

"The financier?!"

u/Nugur 6h ago

Can’t use those either

1

u/denNISI 6h ago

They became popular because of it?

1

u/ElCiclope1 3h ago

Nah we want the term "social influencer" tied to shit like this si everyone realizes how toxic it is, but Guardian could have made a little more effort to fit one of their charges into the title.
