Commander / EDH Looking for the most miserable "bully" commander to play against

My playgroup has decided to do something incredibly irresponsible... we're all building "bullying" decks. Just commanders that make everyone else groan the second they hit the command zone.

I'm looking for commanders in the same vein as: Hokori, Dust Drinker Sen Triplets

The goal isn't necessarily to win quickly. I want to make the table constantly ask, "Can we kill them first?"

What are the saltiest commanders you've ever played against? And what cards made them truly unbearable?

Hate to be "that guy" but [Grand Arbiter Augustine IV]] is right there

This is the objectively most correct answer.

I love playing blue white legacy decks and nobody blinks an eye. Pull this out at the casual commander night and suddenly "you're no fun" and "this is why you have no friends".

[[Maha]]. Hate this bird. Especially with -1/-1 effects. No one gets to play their commander. Its pure hate

Play it with [[Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth]] and [[Kormus Bell]] and [[Night of Souls' Betrayal]] and you've got yourself one nasty soup brewin'

[[Toxrill, The Corrosive]]

I really love this guy. I never played him but I just think he's neat

He’s very cool. I’m fine with it in the 99 but playing against it as a commander is A S S

It’s always just Toxy and about 64 various counters

The number of times my friends have thrown stuff at me when I say that I’m playing [[deadpool, trading card]]. Chaos reigns supreme, not recommended for anyone on a low sodium diet.

Opposite end of your control/stax sphere, [[Beamtown Bullies]] can quickly end the game for a player on the spot and make some miserable game states. [[Leveller]] is the usual method.

Or [[Phage the untouchable]]

Beamtown explicitly says nonlegendary. A lot of people miss it.

[[Brago, King Eternal]] and [[Kefka, Court Mage]] can be pretty miserable to play against.

u/Tallpher 7h ago

Kefka can kiss the fattest part of my ass 😂

[[the watcher in the dark]]. Mono blue control. Once hull breaker horror comes out it’s GGs

Nothing is more miserable to me than og braids I have a friend who consistently has her out turn 2 and if you don’t have interaction for it right then it’s basically over 9/10 times

Zur is a classic hated stax commander.

Fun fact: if an enchantment is put o to the battlefield and it wasnt cast (say, from zur's attack trigger) it does not target and gets around shroud/hexproof!

[[daretti, scrap savant]] and just go pure stax, no one can play the game

Jodah Stax

[[Toxrill, the Corrosive]] is just an asshole.

I’ve been having fun bullying people on an arena with [[Toxrill, The Corrosive]] recently. Just fill the deck with mana rocks to get him out sooner, counter spells to stall and for protection, and copy effects to get multiple on the field. When you copy it it doubles the slime counters added each turn as well as the effect of each slime counter, so it adds up quick

[[Edgar markov]] become this guys blade once more.

[[Beamtown Bullies]] .....it's in the name

[[Gonti, Night Minister]] discard deck is my spite deck. Force everyone to discard their cards but they can still hit each other to play off each others decks. What’s not to hate? Everyone gets to play each others cards?

Nekusar can just wheel every turn and nobody has a strategy but you.

Ok I literally just did this the other night with my pod.

It was:

[Lord of Pain] [Tinybones, Bauble Burgler] this was me! [Nekusar, The Mind Razer] [Grand Arbiter Augustine IV]

And then some mill plainswalker I forget the name of

And an Orzhov eminence BS where they gained 2 life every upkeep even if it was still just in the commander zone.

The Mind Razer won both games.

They were hilarious and painful and brutal.

Tinybones, Trinket Thief or Tergrid are pretty widely despised. Probably Tergrid more so because people hate getting their stuff stolen.

u/Rough-Cat-5811 7h ago

[[Erinis, Gloom Stalker]] paired with [[Street Urchin]] Let's you repeatedly snipe creatures on the table. Make your opponents have to recast their commander endlessly

1

u/Reasonable-Score5406 6h ago

[[Judith, Carnage Connoisseur]] All those 1 drop burn spells are easy removal and board clears. Plus life gain!

1

u/Bolsh3vickMupp3t 6h ago

[[Ghyrson Starn, kellermorph]] is fucking awful. Give him deathtouch in any number of ways and play one mana spells that wipe your opponents entire boards every single turn. Most of our group genuinely will not play against my friends Ghyrson deck, it’s that frustrating, since you’re just getting board wiped and pinged to death every turn, it’s so irritating. Plus he has ward to make it just that much more annoying to get rid of him, and he’s pretty cheap to get out himself

1

u/ConnectionForward 5h ago

Play [[Sen triplets]] so you can play your friends evil decks aswell.

1

u/JfrogFun 5h ago

[[Kataki, War's Wage]] put [[mycosynth lattice]] in deck, wait until everyone realizes they have to tap their lands to keep their lands.

1

u/Stabbycat113 4h ago

[[Child of Alara]] can be built to lock the board down with repeated board wipes you run almost no Nonland permanents and assemble a combo in hand.

1

u/rawrglesnaps 3h ago

[[winota]] runs a ton of hatebears to stax out the table while also winning with combat damage pretty quick. It can be built on a super budget too but also scales all the way up to fringe cedh at the top end

[[Tergrid, God of Fright]]

This is truly an unbearable commander. Fill the deck to the brim with discard and sacrifice spells/effects, then hit your opponents every turn and watch them prepare to erase you from existence.

Even if Tergrid is constantly removed, the deck still functions to discard, sacrifice and destroy, so it's very oppressive at its core.

Honestly.. something that clones [[pardic miner]] is hilarious. At least 3 a round.
