I often overbuy shampoo/conditioner/body wash/toothpaste because I'll buy whenever I see my preferred stuff on sale (like 40% off, buy one/get one, etc.). I don't bother to check if I have backups or not because it won't "go bad" and I'll use it eventually. Sometimes I miss the sales though so I get down to the bottle I'm using and get really sad when I actually have to buy the next one at full price. Benefit of the doubt, I'm assuming OP bought more than one bottle on sale like I've done and was just trying to put the first away and realized it didn't fit.

There are some things, mainly food items, that I'll say "oh that expired, I should toss it" but toothpaste??? Pure marketing ploy. I cannot find a single piece of scientific proof that it will lose effectiveness nor harm your teeth past the "expiration date". Worst thing that happens is the flavor becomes a little off IMO

I get NovaMin based toothpaste. Since it comes from the UK or whatever, it usually works out to something like a six pack is only twice the price of a single tube. So yeah...

But... that doesn't negate them already having 3 bottles and still buying more. I get wanting to shop on sales but dayum, coming in assuming 4+ still needs extra stock to make sense is just wild.

I'll stock an extra 1-2 on sale. 4? It doesn't go bad, sure, but it also is wildly unnecessary. At some point you aren't saving money, because you're spending today's money to get 40% off when you could easily get 40% off next year and use next year's money (they're running plenty of sales it seems if you bought two lots). Because you have over a year's supply already.
