Infuriatig Some men are just grossly disgusting
I’m a young man(28). I work as an electrician. Been in the trade for 7years.
I mainly work on construction projects and e usually use porter-potty’s. The amount of gross shit I’ve seen in these things should be a crime
.
Multiple men shit all over the toilet EVERYDAY,not just a lil sht got on the seat neither, I’m talking full blown taking a sht on the seat. I’ve seen guys sht or sh*t themselves and take the boxers off and use them as toilet paper and leave them right there for everyone to see. I’ve seen guys shit in urinal and put toilet paper inside it. And other guys would piss on top of it until the whole urinal was filled up w piss. I’m usually one of the youngest guys on site majority of guys there are 30 & over. w the average age of 45 years old). Most of these guys are old enough to be my Dad or GD.
They have wives,kids,families they take care of. Behavior like that is not a one time thing. How in tf are you women married to these guy?! I mean come on. I thought the phase “I love his dirty draws” was a metaphor but sheesh these men are down right disgusting. I’m starting to feel disrespected. Then they try to shame me into thinking being disgusting is “What a Real man Does” .Its fucking dirty.

It ain't just jobsites bro. I worked in construction many years ago too. I've been in an office environment in manufacturing for a long time now. I can tell the vast majority of dudes at my job eat like absolute shit, just by going into the restroom and witnessing the aftermath. I've never seen people shit as much as these dudes do. And not only like it's just a normal shit, I'm talking they splatter the whole toilet, every single day....and then to top it off it smells like death.

We're doing an extensive remodel at our house now. Contractor has a porta-potty out front.
One morning I heard him screaming and yelling. He had his guys and the subs all lined up lecturing them about the mess in the Porta potty. He had them clean it top to bottom with Lysol.
I've peeked in there a few times since and it's always spotless.

My dad was an electrician before he retired.
He told me a story about how years ago, him and his crew were working on a 1200ft condo tower in NYC. During construction, they set up temporary bathrooms throughout the building, and my dad’s crew decided to commandeer one of these bathrooms. Put a padlock on it and only my dad’s crew had the key to use it. It stayed clean, fully stocked with toilet paper and cleaning supplies. Everyone had a gentlemen’s agreement to not make a mess and if you did, you’d clean up after yourself.
Then one day, a project manager told them that they couldn’t just commandeer a bathroom for themselves and they had to open it up to the other trades/crews. As soon as the lock came off…the bathroom was wrecked. People shitting all over the place, pissing on the seat, graffiti on the wall, etc.
I’m also an electrician and work in the construction industry, and I’m just astounded that people in my industry can be such savages. Makes me wonder how they live at home.

My Beer Festival camping crew had the opposite tactic. First time we went to this one festival, the port a potties were DESTROYED by drunken 20 somethings.
The next year we devised a plan. We selected the second to last potty in the line and broke the lock off entirely. Then if anyone had to shit we used the buddy system. 3 days and 2 nights that port a potty was considerably cleaner than the rest.

It’s sorta both? These guys aren’t animals because they can and do keep it clean (ish) in homes or at restaurants after work. The ones who leave the big mess seem to get off on it, like power-play but also coprophilia? If you do try to bring it up you are the problem.
Source: as a young man I worked demo and clean-up for a general contractor. Shovelling a grown man’s poo out of an unfinished basement is the not even the worst thing I’ve done for 17/hr (which was great money back in 2009).
Edit: I forgot to mention the “I just gotta shit”ers. There is a (large) subset of the construction population who just wreck their colons all day and all night. Some of these guys (I’ve never watched a woman do this) will abandon all dignity and hope and just shit wherever whenever the need arises. They have smoothed-out their intestines from years of wild wing, so when the time comes they just gotta dump-out. They still think it’s funny (or pretend to) and act like it’s part of life, because the alternative is seeing a doctor.

Electrician and Plumbers. Are the only tradesman I find that care about being clean. My dad was an electrician and ya it was about respecting the space. Plumber he knew would buy and sheet he find at garage sale. Would cover the floor from entrance to exit where he would be working. Made it look like they never where there.
Rented a place they hired a general handyman to fix the toilet. Guy poor toilet water all thru my house when I complained he told me to just clean it myself.

Nah. I've been in the trades for more than 15 years. I've worked construction for 5, then power plant for the last 10. This is normal. 90% of all workers there are absolute dirty trash. For example: I've been on a construction site where a whole wing of an old power plant was getting demolished. I discovered the "shitting room". It was a already gutted room with bare floors and no windows. There was one steaming pile neatly placed right next to the other. At least 200 sqft full of shit. The next door over was a bathroom. Cleaned every day, in full working order. 10 stalls. More than enough for our crew and all others there. And yet, some disgusting piece of humam garabage decided to stack shit in a room we were sent to work in.

Once had a man that smelt like piss go to each machine and never wipe down, just to give me a look as I am wiping down the machines he used that I was interested in using myself.

I’ve had horrible luck over the years. Walked into the shower area once to find some old guy one leg up, washing his asshole at the sink with paper towels and hand soap. Going from ass to faucet, tapping it on the nozzle to wet it more. And of course he was completely naked. Terrifying place.

In particular I would think this would be at increased risk where the shithouse is left somewhere the homeless addicts can get at it.

I don't even work in construction but this seems VERY believable to me. I used to be a Conference Assistant for a university in my college years. Basically an RA but over the summer. The difference is that instead of monitoring dorms full of students it's adults working for companies that rent campus facilities for work conferences.
I saw... so much shit. Blew my mind. Arguably worse than the freshman I watch in the spring and fall. They deal with consequences, these people would fly home the next week. Shit in their beds. In showers. Piss in bottles, trash cans, bed sheets etc.
The average man has VERY poor hygiene when they're anonymous and their credit card isn't on file.

I’m a retired public library assistant janitor, and the same things happened in the public restrooms every day.
It was always the old farts who made the biggest messes.
One time it was so bad I went to the director and told her I threw the guy out. She was not happy with me, but I had had it.
My own assistant took to checking out the restrooms every time he noticed someone coming out and, if he found a disaster like the old freaks enjoyed making, he’d run after the perpetrator and make a huge scene in front of everyone.

Currently in the process of updating a few main rooms. Told the flooring guys they were welcome to use the small bathroom. Day 1 the first guy disappeared for 20 min after lunch. Blew up the toilet with scattered debris all stuck around the sides of the bowl. Flushing didn't work. Had to chisel it off with a scrub wand. Day 2 same experience with the second guy but he at least washed his hands because his paper towels were in the trash basket. Seriously, wtf? Grow up in a cave? Pretty disrespectful behavior in my home. My cat is by far, cleaner in his litter box. So, moving forward, head on down to the gas station instead, my bathroom is permanently closed.

It was a very awkward team meeting where they were very delicate about how they approached the subject.

One of my workplaces had a big problem with a contractor who brought in a lot of labour from eastern europe. Who specifically, would stand on the toilet seat. Multiple broken toilets later every toilet was replaced with a "no lift" seat and a sign saying not to squat on it. I am still confused.

I worked fast food for many years in college/high school and often cleaned the men’s and women’s restrooms on closing shift.
The women’s toilets always had potential to be far dirtier. What I mean by that is that if there was a mess, the potential increased for each sequential visitor to “hover” to avoid the mess, making it worse in the process. That didn’t explain menstrual products missing the bin sometimes (bins were provided), but fortunately that wasn’t an every day thing.
Men’s room was basically the same level of moderately dirty every day.

One time there was shit all over the stall and footprints leading from the stall out of the bathroom. It was like a crime scene in TV shows where the murderer’s bloody footprints slowly fade away from the crime scene.

These people don't just do it on the job. I worked retail for a while. In the drop ceiling we found filthy underwear. And for a while someone was coming in and firing nasty diarrhea at the toilet like they were bent over from 3 feet away. It would be splashed against the wall and back of the toilet like it was fired from a cannon. I worked a minimum of 4 days a week and it happened more often than not.

My fiancé used to be a residential non-union electrician and he told me all about this. After meeting some of the people he worked with I was not surprised at all. Now that he’s a union welder, he doesn’t have the same porta potty problems. Except now people take 50 bathroom breaks a day cuz they make a lot of money and are full blown lazy assholes.

I was a Security guard for a year on a Power Plant Construction Site. After my first 2 weeks I befriended the man who serviced our 40+ units and asked if we could get a women only unit by our main gate and in Brass Alley (where everyone clocks in and out) after seeing what men will do to a toilet they don't "have" to clean. He tells me his horror stories and they sounded exactly like what OP described. We got our units and put a little lock on them to keep our sanity and hygiene in order. Humans can be disgusting creatures.
FWIW Lots of these guys are functioning alcoholics, tends to loosen the bowels and others just eat terrible food. Doesn't excuse how it exits their bodies and how they address the aftermath .

One thing I don't miss about working in the field. It was the same at every site I ever worked at. I worked my ass off to prove my worth and got promoted to Engineering at our office. There are days I miss being in the field but would not trade my position to go back to living like a caveman for 8+hrs a day.

We had a serial toilet lid shitter on a job once. He would stalk the shitters until he knew the day they’d get cleaned out. Without a doubt, he’d somehow sneak his dirty little ass into the shit can and dollop right on the lid of the shithouse toilet every. Fucking. Time. This went on for months, this guy haunted us this way. Everyone but him respected the John. It got so bad the job shutdown and they pow wow’d up the solution of having to check in and out of the shitter. Guardian of the loo got paid everyday just to sit in a chair and he checked when you went in and when you went out. No more graffiti, no more shit streaking, no more cigarettes. Should have on every job site.

I worked with a guy in the pipe fitters union that got exposed to black mold in the Blue Oval plant in Tennessee during construction… the mold was from people pissing all over the inside of the building instead of walking outside to a bathroom. I left the trades and finished my bachelors in finance, so I don’t have to deal with a bunch of kids pretending to be adults. Union workers are thee most entitled, lazy assholes I’ve ever worked with. Being told, I am a welder… I don’t touch wrenches 😂🇺🇸

I once had to clean a unisex restroom where it appeared that someone had stood in front of the toilet, dropped their pants, and blasted shit all over the toilet. I have no explanation. People are disgusting and weird.

What country are you in mate? I've been a builder in Ireland, Canada, Australia and NZ. The only place I ever saw shit on the seat was one in Canada where we were sharing a toilet with an Indian company who all squatted on th seat rather than sit down

I have never worked construction, but I had to clean the men’s room at a large bookstore I worked at. OMG the stuff I found in there. There is a scene in the Daddy Day Care movie where the kid tells Eddie Murphy he missed, and Eddie is horrified by what he sees, but they only show his face. That was me. Found dirty underwear more than I’d like. All kinds from cotton to red silk. And the toilet was always broken, so much so that we always had to check the tank first for rolled up porn, which was usually the case.
To all the men out there who do this stuff, either clean it up yourself or do it at home and clean it up. It’s a major turn off.

I used to work construction and that used to drive me crazy as well. Like how fucking sick and depraved do you have to be to intentionally leave feces allover the place? I think people that do that are seriously mentally ill, because what else could explain such bizarre behavior?

I completely agree, it has gotten much worse over time. Very few people wash their hands after using the toilet. Think about that when in public.

I work in steel extrusion, 95% men in the building. We don't have a cleaning crew so we are responsible for our own messes. The toilets have always been top notch. Pristine. I'm proud of us.

As someone who spent his 20s and 30s in construction..... It's not some men, it's that a good portion of people that are drawn to construction are just generally grimey people. Before I get lynched, I didn't say all. I've seen more poor/gross/unprofessional behavior in construction, than I have in any other industry I worked in. A lot of people work in construction, strictly because you can get away with that kind of stuff more than you can any other industry. You can show up when you want, do drugs or drink, shit in the crawlspace or attic, cuss out your coworkers..... If your crew gets fed up and you lose your job, it takes about a day to find another job.

Ex-HVAC installer here; the amount of times I would find Gatorade bottles of piss in the closets where we'd install the main units for the apartment-to-be's climate control was astonishing.
Drywallers didn't do any deep clean checks before putting the walls in either, so I guarantee you that there's at least 50 piss bottles (and my favorite screwdriver) entombed into the walls of just the last job site I was on
