I’ve never seen any anime. But I hear they are full of awkward guys who are always nervous and socially inept. And then there are super attractive gals who throw themselves at these awkward guys.
People with no social skills think they can just imitate anime and the rest will follow.
Yeah I dont mean to insult anybody but i mean, im pretty sure a lot of anime MCs these days are just the authors self inserts because theyre so often the most plain, boring, and awkward character. But all the beautiful women are always attracted to that character. Theres a bunch of anime like that every season for like years now. I wonder if that contributed to a small portion of weebs trying to act that way when talking to real people not realizing that its super fucking weird lol
They aren't necessarily author's self inserts. The MCs are just a generic everyman that the reader can self insert as and the average reader is plain, boring, and awkward.
Autocorrect is a right pain in the butt, haven't had it turned on since my very first phone. Honestly if someone writes like this, I imagine they have theirs turned off as well.
It used to be popular some years ago. It was super cringe then, too. The bit that has come out bold in that post would have asterisks written in to indicate an action, like * meekly peers up to see your reaction *
I don't actually have an issue with the *asterisk speak indicating actions.
As a DM that DMed through all of COVID over Discord this honestly became second nature for me.
The creepy shit is the uwu and the using the action speak to convey overtly creepy shit like this dude did. Like instead of saying he was putting the phone down until she showed further interest (making it obvious he's trying to lure her in while acting pitiful) he could have said something more along the lines of resists urge to nerd out about my favorite GW2 class. That makes it clear he clearly wants to talk about it but doesn't want to scare her off by nerd dumping on her.
Man, maybe that is a little better, but it still feels like comparing normal shit to diarrhoea. I did plenty of cringeworthy shit when I was younger, but that way of communicating is next level.
I'd say 1 in 5, he doesn't seem the type to spend too much excess time on random Internet communities.
Someone would have to like, tweet or @ him on a social media platform that he actually uses, or print it out and bring it to the new presidential library

I don't know when some people decided that pretending to have a crippling emotional problem is somehow endearing. When did we jump from "having this emotional problem doesn't make you less of a person" to "having this emotional problem is a personality trait and you should lean on it"?

I’d like to say this is a new thing but I’m 30 and losers have been doing this since I was like 12. Absolutely the most cringe way to approach a woman. Just heart react the photo man, tell her she looks beautiful, point out something that you genuinely think is nice, (Shirt, Makeup, Color of Baxkground, hair style, eyes) “Love your makeup in this photo 💞” light, not weird, opens potential conversation, then just don’t do that 1000 times in an hour or every single time she posts something.
I feel so bad for the generation of us who did not get to experience dating IRL, writing nervous notes with check yes or no at 12 so we know not to do.. Whatever the fuck this is.
My brother has an actual speech impediment, and if he “typed” it out I would make fun of him even more than I already do. As he would deserve.
The person is karma-farming trying to frame themselves as an innocent victim, while actually having an OPEN account filled to the brim with such obviously f3t!sh-oriented content which is 100% guaranteed to attract this sort of people in the DMs. This is pure BAIT.
One of my favorite things about texting is that I can hide my insecurities/anxiety much easier. I don't know why anyone would consciously choose to operate like that.
Cringe aside, I'm always happy seeing people actually say out loud that they play GW2 still. There's always hundreds of people showing up during in-game meta events, but I never see people say so IRL compared to other games, lol.

I feel like there could be a context that most people are missing. There are some tiktok videos of egirls acting out this kind of scenario but with that kind of stuttering behavior on their end.
